When I watched the Bumblebee movie back in 2019 and when I saw Optimus doing the 1986 jump in the air from the '86 movie, I was amazed and every Studio Series Optimus Prime can do that pose is amazing. Love the review!
I grew up with the bayformers and I am quite attached to the designs, I can see why people don’t like it but it’s an interesting take on the transformers. I am a g1 fan but the bayformers hold a special place in my heart.
Same I grew up with the bayformers I admit I don’t like the last knight but I do like 1,2,3 and 4 they are awesome they will always have a place in my heart yes if you want to know I love g1 it’s amazing. I just hope that rise of beats will make a comeback for the transformers series I am confident it will though.

It's Good. I own the Mass released OP and wasn't planning on getting this one. Then I watch your review and now I have him ordered. I wanted A Live action G1 Optimus and this Guy hits all the right notes. Painted Yellow triangles, silver face plate, white striped truck... Now I need to find him a good Trailer
I’m getting this figure because I missed the mass release and the mass release versions are all super inflated in price now. It looks like they improved the head mobility a bit on this one because some reviewers mentioned the mass release one not having up and down head articulation at all.
I love that mold. Would buy another one if I can find this premium finish version. It's a shame the TF Bumblebee movie didn't do well. That might be why it's hard to obtain the toys from it. I remember seeing the masterpiece bumblebee (from the movie) and not having money to buy it but now that I have it I can't find him anywhere in toys stores. Grrrr
This "premium version" still lacks paint compared to the original pre order photos. The back thighs (gas tanks) are supposed to be silver, the inside of the forearms near the elbows are supposed to be painted. You'll notice the difference if you compare it from the photos.
It's kinda crazy that the weathering is not done with dry brushing, but with some type of printing process (either slikscreening or tampoing). Also, I disagree with 7:36 , the 35th anniversary Optimus is meant to be G1-esque and not movie accurate, hence the brighter colors and cleaner paint apps.

I've just ordered this from Ebay. I plan to do a little custom painting. Nothing serious, just some shading, giving some definition to the more plain pieces, maybe a little more weathering and chipping to "expose more metal" to show Prime's actually been thru a few billion years of war.

It is a fantastic figure at voyager price point, but I wouldn't want to pay leader class price for the toy, unless I have some sort of discount that I have to use and this is the only toy applicable. Then I might change my mind. Edit: I just realized the side tank are supposed to be painted, at least it's there on the prototype. But no, we don't have enough budget despite us charging you 70% extra for the same figure.

I love this mold. I am very interested in seeing...and most likely buying, the Optimus from the new movie. I've grown to except and even like the Prime from the first movie but this design is superior. Michael Bay Transformers look like C3PO from the Phantom menace.
If it's the same plastic, I ain't buying it. Both the red and grey plastic on the first figure were so melty and bendy, they wouldn't hold a tab worth a shit and any part that could pop off, would. Getting it into truck mode was misery.
Whilst I don't really care for the bumblebee figures or G1 in general, I love that they are re-issuing a popular character- and with a better paint job. This opens new possibilities for another Ironhide and others :D
honestly my only real criticism is in the arms having the awkward door panel part on it, was surprised at how compact the chest was and no huge backpack either!!!
So basically, it's just the Aoyi Mech h6003-8 but official and with "battle damage". It still looks the best of all the premium finishes, though. Nice review PVP.
Outstanding review! this one of the greatest Optimus figure ive ever seen and own! Its almost perfect, the lack of head swivel is a bummer, but thats my only gripe. It really feels great in hand and it poses wonderfully!!! Till all are One!
I got the premium finish bumblebee and was pretty disappointed, which lowered my expectations for this optimus figure, but after watching this review I think I should get it as it looks a lot better.
Many people seem to dislike the feet, but for me they are an easily acceptable trade-off. Less massive feet are easier to hide, and in this mold they don’t stick out in the truck mode at all. Clearly visible robot feet in truck modes have always greatly bugged me in G1-style Optimus Prime -figures.
This comment was written in 2024. Gamestop recently re-released the mass release Optimus at retail price, and it is an AMAZING figure. I think that that's funny because now the premium finish ver. is pretty hard to find as well.
one thing i found out today i dont know if u know is that u can store his gun in truck mode by rasing the flaps underneith and having the gun fit in the middle
Lucky for me, i do not buy that main line Studio series Optimus Prime because the colouration at original version is not accurate at all ☹️, plus make the original version look like boring for me 😒. I wish, i can find this super cool premium version Optimus Prime at my country because the colouration at premium version lot better or i can say Ultra-awesome 😁. I like this Optimus Prime more than Netflix Optimus Prime, because Netflix Optimus Prime's characteristics so terrible, plus he looks like childish because he do not know how to make it a plan, so shame ☹️. The only thing I hate about the Studio Series Prime is that the truck mode is nowhere near accurate to what we saw in the film. The truck is more accurate to the invasion mode for Prime was AoE and vice versa
The blaster fits between the legs in truck mode making the drive train. Most people don't know this. I don't think it's in the instruction manual either.
It's interesting to me how they managed to make this figure so good but no one points out that it's design is very inaccurate to his look in the movie and based on concept art .
This is definitely an improved version, although the promotional images do show a lot more paint on the arms, I'm not pleased with Takara lying like this.
Awesome review of Premium finish Optimus Prime (Bumblebee movie), PVP! Keep it up! Personally for me, I'm sticking with the regular SS38 BB Movie Optimus Prime figure, but for those who could not find a BB Movie Optimus Prime, this premium finished version is an option for them.
i hope we got a new mold or a retooled version of him on transformers rise of the beast. still won't pick this guy up he's too boxy for me and the feet is killing it for me 😂. nice review btw.
hoping for a heavy retool . hope they see the lemon three optimus prime. it's transformation is almost the same as the studio series and the proportion of the lemon three is better it kinda look like a mini mpm optimus prime.
