In this video, I'm presenting a new way of thinking about the very popular jazz chord progression the 2 5 1 progression. It’s a concept that you can use in both your comping and improvisation. As it turns out it’s very easy to play although you may get a few blisters on your brain thinking about it at the start. We also include some concepts from previous lessons so we have that ‘connected’ learning process happening. As always, I hope you get a lot out of it!

Im just getting into the Barry Harris approach and this was exactly what I needed to show how useful that approach is, and musical. Any recommendations for newer students of Barry’s approach on guitar?

I'm glad you found this lesson helpful. For students interested in this type of approach I'd start with our Jazz Guitar Chord Melody Playlist: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ehH2dK6QsvI.html they are a series of foundation lessons presented in a progressive sequence that gives the student a way to apply theoretical concepts to the guitar fingerboard. I hope this helps you. Mike
