I find much of the time (not always) raising with my AA leads to folds from all players. If I know there is a very aggressive player at the table, I still raise and then slowplay post flop. And yes I have been caught by a coordinated board vs a tight passive player!
@stephenglover8828
@stephenglover8828 Год назад
this strategy is good but too simplistic. I always fast play my aces, but there are certain scenarios (opponent dependent) where you should just call (not a 2 bet or 3 bet obviously) but if someone has 4 bet you, I think that's a good time to flat call because if you go over the top again then he knows you have aces. Plus if he's 4-bet you his hand is transparent and easier to play post flop. Just let him bet into you for several streets and then shove him on the river (obviously board dependent) but he's definitely going to call you because there is no way he's put you on aces apart from that yes your strategy is fine

Mistake #3 is Gospel. Continued aggression into coordinated Flops that "complete" on the Turn or River is more Frustration than anything...and a great way to get Stacked.

Thanks for the tips. I actually had this realization last this year. I showed after the table folded preflop. I only bet 3x bb. The table, mostly fish, not sure why they all folded, something scared them, said I should have slow played the rockets. I told them "that's how rockets get cracked". They folded to my 3xbb bets for another hour, expecting high pair in my hole cards. :)

In the live 1/2 games I play, there is a lot of raising and a lot of (over)calling raises, but almost no three-betting. If someone three-bets, they have pretty much KK+. I regularly overlimp AA preflop, wait for a 6x+ bet, three callers then I 3-bet. Usually everyone folds, but occasionally I get exactly one caller. If instead I make it say 3/4x pre, and face four callers, I find I don't win as much money. Online I would never try this.
@zackcovert2547
@zackcovert2547 2 года назад
I can't count how many times I've limped AA and gotten got beat on the flop. People will hit random 2 pairs and get huge draws they won't be able to fold lol. I would rather steal the blinds or getting it all-in against KK, instead of slowplaying and getting sucked out by the turn/river
@jt4391
@jt4391 2 года назад
I agree, i think this line works very well in live cash games but you have to be good enough to fold your AA as well. The reason it works well is because u can pick up a lot of live tells during the hand. Also pp entering the pot with different stacksizes need different approaches as well. U don' t want your AA go all in preflop against somebody with an awkward stacksize who is pushing all the big stacks away.

@@zackcovert2547-I haven't played live in almost 2 years but we were 6 handed briefly and i made it 20 pre with about $750 in a 1/2 game (i know, but it plays like that) BB called, K95 flop she led 30 i went to 130 n she called, 4h turn & flush draw now i just shoved cuz she had a few $ over a pot sized bet left...she called with KQhh n i held. Strong top pairs pay off AA quite a bit too.
@gabrielboily2641
@gabrielboily2641 2 года назад
You need a really good reason to limp in with AA or other premiums. I only do it when I'm up against aggressive opponents who will attack limpers and I have enough of a sample size to know this. I typically target regs with this strategy to confuse them and I've stacked many because as soon as I limp/ raise I've seen some shove 99+, AQs+ and AKo because they believe I'm weak. I do this sometimes against regs in heads up situations so SB vs BB and occasionally when it folds to me on the button.
@G0DofRock
@G0DofRock 2 года назад
Right, just try limping at some tables and watch everyone fold because they know what you are doing.. It's like when a passive fish min raises lol "oh no he min raised me.." then jams on flop. Sometimes they are just garbage but wait for the flop shove or rapid checks then shove on river.
@gabrielboily2641
@gabrielboily2641 2 года назад
@@G0DofRock Yes but there are always regs that play 4-6 tables at a time on auto-pilot. Limping in on the button from time to time makes you harder to read and will allow you to maintain positional advantage because you take away the 3-bet from them so all those hands you want to play but are scared to get 3-bet with by the blinds you can limp/call them sometimes but mostly raise. (Hero) Small blind vs Big blind you can mix in some limp/raises with your premiums limp/call with your good but not great hands. Now against fish this strategy doesn't work a passive player won't build a pot for you.

I might also add...If I min 3bet with say...AK or AQ from early position and get 3 bet from certain players (4X plus), I'm usually folding. They have KK or AA. Why play a board with them at a disadvantage? These regs do not bluff 3 bet, their 3 bets are, 95% of the time, very strong holdings.

Absolutely how you play Pocket AA💯💯
@stravs8097
@stravs8097 2 года назад
Eh, it really depends on who you're playing with. Some dude is tilting or maniac ahead of you - constantly raising pots. I limp AA in that scenario and just call his raise. He's usually smart enough to know if I re-raise I have something worth re-raising. Or, scenario 2...regs at table. I'm 1st position preflop. Limp AA. Board comes KK2. Checks through. Turn A. Pot bet. Called by only player left. River brick. Shove. He calls his whole stack because 1) I didn't raise preflop and didn't bet flop and 2) He has Ax so he assumes we are chopping. Bad news that I have full house. Had I opened from 1st position with any bet, he's going to play more cautious. The guidelines you provide are good, but they have to be tailored to situations of kinds of players you are up against.

I notice a lot of live recs and bad live regs (guys who maybe win, but have many leaks as well) love to slow play AA. Especially as a limp, looking to reraise. What’s great about live poker is that they can always justify to themselves, by omitting the math, that their strategy is working great.

About two months ago I was in an extremely aggressive 1-2 nlh with optional 5$ button straddle. It plays like a 5-10 game easily like one nit 2 tag and 7 Lag … I’m on the bb , sb folds and I limp( this is situational due to the 5$ button straddle which is raised in this game more often than not(obviously) couple of callers for five bucks and the hijack goes to 25$ the button folds so now I’m no longer screwing around and reraise to 80$ and the hj flats me! Flop came JQK rainbow I’ve played with my opponent for a few years now and he could easily have me crushed here already ! My instinct is spot on when it’s turned on and the whole energy shifted on me (it had to be something he did although sometimes I don’t recognize what it is I picked up on I just know I’m right) so I downbet the flop which I do a lot in this lag fest to induce action or obtain information…. I bet 60$ and he moved in for 320$ which had me covered by 6$…. I folded…. And not hmmmmm haw well maybe… instantly went with the energy of the hand and never second guessed my actions! Although I wish he had showed me whether or not I made a grand error but he did not! However I think that says it all really , he didn’t want me getting the satisfaction from my amazing read!

That's okay, that's going to happen sometimes you'll get aces but nobody will have a hand to call a raise. The biggest problem with limping aces is it's very hard to try to figure what anybody else has whereas if you raise and get called you can start to put them on a range of hands, you don't want to limp and let the blinds in for free because they could have literally anything making it really hard to determine where you stand after the flop.

I had pocket aces and made a mistake of not raising high enough pre-flop. They paid to see the flop, then they called on the turn and they went all in on the river. I missed the obvious straight draw on the table (probably because I got over confident with my pocket aces) so I called. I lost and immediately realized I should have bet way higher pre-flop so they would have never had an opportunity to see the flop in the first place and make a straight! Or else I should have folded once they were giving me huge hints that they had a better hand. Lesson learned...Aces don't always win if you bet incorrectly!

I almost always slowplay AA preflop. If your table doesn't have many preflop raisers your right, you must always raise. However, if your table is an agressive preflop table, and there is a very good chance that there will be a raise after you limp, THEN you reraise. Sure there is a downsize when you just limp and there is no raise, i get it. However, that rarely happens anymore. 9 handed, 3 limpers @ $3 (plus the blinds) and a raise to lets say $30, folded to you, pot is now $43, THEN you reraise BIG. Either take it down and be happy with a $40 profit or heads-up and you are a big favorite. I like my odds, all the time. Will i win every time? No, but i like my odds.

You should raise no more than 10BB with pocket Aces, but never go all in pocket Aces, as it's just a pair. Not enough equity vs KK or QQ to go all in 200BB or more deep stacked, as that risks your entire stack getting 2 outered. Smooth call bets up to 10BB and get pot odds. Flop a set or wait for them to flop their set, then you know where you are at. Never go all in as many hands beat a pair of Aces

Playing and crushing micros isn't really a thing here in 2024. Most sites don't even offer anything below 10nl anymore. I understand that you've put your whole life into this one basket but ... it's time to move up in stakes and get good enough to coach people on things they legitimately need help with. A whole video on not slowplaying AA in 2024 is ridiculous lol.
