There's also bankroll management for raising with the draw. If you can't afford rebuys or you don't want to give back everything you've won in a long session I don't like to inflate the pot even if I am small favorite. Also when counting the 14 outs you might not have that many as some of the outs could have been folded by other players or have been the burn card. Also villain could be on a bigger flush draw then there goes most of your out. I'd only.raise super deep or super short stacked.

Hey Nathan, thank you for all those videos you share your experiences with us. For me it's the most helpful way to get better on the poker table. I am impressed that you always find new ideas for new video's. If you need I have a question it's maybe worth to create a video with. You always mention the different player types like Nit, TAG etc. Could you make a video where you compare all the important types and how you adapt your strategy to them? Secondly I am from Germany. We have regulations that pokerstars for instance can not provide table or seat selection. You always say, it's basically the key for profitable poker. Do you have any ideas to fix that. Or is it impossible to play profitable poker from Germany. Thanks so much for creating your experienced content.

Nathan, thanks for the valuable videos. you keep making the point that you are up against a single type of player, the reality is that in $1/2 and $2/5 poker cash games you will have 4 to 6 players in each hand ( the Nit, the Tag, the Fish ..etc.) it's very seldom that you are up against one player, so how do you deal with these situations?
@BlackRain79Poker
@BlackRain79Poker Год назад
Glad my videos are helping you Issa! You are right, every situation is different. I try to mix up the player types in these videos to hopefully show you how I approach common situations vs each one.

disagree somewhat on first example. if you just call, you open things up on the turn for him to make a bigger bet. i would minraise , ifd he cant beat your ace, like with pocket kings, he would just call, then probably check river. if he reraises large, then fold.
@stirfrybry1
@stirfrybry1 2 года назад
I agree with you. If the C bet is tiny I'm going to see where I'm at with a raise. If the C bet is bigger I'm calling or aborting if I sense danger. On this hand I'm not folding with ace high flush potential but I would call to save any bets for later. It's not one size fits all

Two problems... 1) you're not getting max value as a favorite in the hand and 2) you're not giving TT, JJ, QQ, QJ, QT or TJ a chance to fold. This is a hand that you raise and you're happy if opponent calls or folds.

I am really bad at knowing how to bet. It's hard to keep track of how much is in the pot to calculate the right amount to bet?
@ChiariLife420
@ChiariLife420 2 года назад
Just average it out as the money goes in and that helps a little. Like count $8 each to $10, etc...that's has helped me with trying to keep an idea of how much is there.
@donpickett202
@donpickett202 2 года назад
My personal approach to counting goes like this: When a Bet of, let's say 100 is made, I say to myself "bet hun" And repeats after each caller, like next caller, i will say, "bet hun call," next caller I will say "bet hun call 2" And on and on. This helps me in numerous ways. I've trained myself to consciously talk out loud in my head. Repeating my phrase over and over during every hand, This helps me in numerous ways. I'm now aware of how much cash is in the pot. I'm sure of all the players in the pot. I also know each players position and what action they took. It gives me great info into their betting patterns, when and how they raise or call. How they play in each position. This takes practice, it will become normal and functional. This leads to truly being able to "read" a player. You'll no longer have to study other players so hard. It will happen so naturally and gradually, that one day soon it'll become instinct. After that, Never ignore your instincts. From one little phrase that created so much knowledge. BET $Amount, CALL, CALL 2. BET $Amount, raise $Amount, fold. Call etc. I hope it helps. If not, at least you'll have seen a different perspective. Good luck

I got to know the games where hand 1 gets raised on flop. Seems more of a 2005 Limit move. Nothing wrong with a smallish turn bet in hand #3 vs someone who is never bluff raising imo. KK/QQ/KJ/QJ aren't folding plus even nits call 1 raise pre w Ax suited.

Best overall advice I can give anyone, is this: if you don't know when someone is lying to you, don't play poker. Because you're already in real trouble in your life. Any time you get a weird feeling about a story anyone is trying to sell you. Get away, get out. Those are natural instincts of danger. In poker, if you don't recognize a lie, and don't get that feeling, then you really shouldn't be playing poker until you further develop your life skills. Good luck all

Dear BlackRain: I have an incredibly awesome stupendous idea...well, not really, but it sounds good, to make you some money and perhaps those reading this too. Take your poker books, but them into a hardcopy form, and sell them over the Internet. Then take your videos, record them onto a hard optical disk, and sell them over the Internet. I do not purchase "downloadable" dribble regardless of how inexpensive it is. But I will buy hard copies of everything you attempt to sell and I speculate that others will too. You make money selling your books and videos, and purchasers win money by reading your books and buying your videos. Nuff' said.
