STOP PUTTING PRODUCTS IN YOUR LOCS!!! 

I can understand why not putting products on your locs is important now. I think when you have all the build up thats when people assume that locs are nasty or dirty, when actually if you are doing right by your locs they can be a beautiful extension of yourself. Too much stigma on locs!

cleansing locs: Dr.Brooners peppermint shampoo and lemon scented dish washing liquid to cut the grease and build up in the locs. i tried it and maybe a few more cleanings my locs will feel lighter. now i just need to tackle the flaky scalp. fresh aloe leaf has done the trick for me before..I'm going back to it with the oils! Ms. Yannies site really will answer your questions. And the Witch comment..?? For real?? Disrespect.

I couldn't agree with her more. That was my biggest thing I wanted to avoid as much as possible when I got my locs were thinning and product buildup. I wash weekly and interlock every two months and only use essential oils in my hair that I mix together in a bottle myself. I find its much cheaper just to buy all the oils and mix them yourself. Other than that I let my locs do what they do.

Wow that is nasty the more u squeeze my stomach turn....so glad I freeform and just wash-n-go and separate as needed. I'm so bless to have found adette wellington e-book....it save me from dealing with nasty dreadlocks....

Yannie. I love your free form and emphasise more on loc and hair health. In one of your workshop videos you encoraged the use of lemon washing up liquid to wash locs to avoid build up. I'm based in the UK. Is there any particular brand I should use? The top brands here like Fairy, Morning Fresh etc do not actually have lemon in them but the fragrance. can you pls advise me on this as I'll be washing my hair this week. I'm about to share this. I've been searching for business tips for starting a business doing locs and I've ran into so many vids with so called professional locticians put all kinds of stuff in people's hair and encouraging them to do so. Couldn't believe it. I tell people when I do theirs not to put anything in their locs. Wash it with residue free shampoo when necessary but nothing else. Oils on the scalp if needed. I personally have oily skin. So I don't need oils

this client was not washing his hair on a regular basis and just kept putting product on top of product, that's why she could do that with the buildup. that's the reason it looked that way there's no way your hair will look that nasty if your actually washing it

I don't know because he sees a loctician every two to three months and I'm thinking these are the only times he washes his locs. I think not washing once or twice a month will keep buildup in locs.

I've been trying to adhere to this by putting oil only on my scalp but my locs now feel really dry...I'm not sure how I'm supposed to moisturize them. What do you use to wash the hair? I've had buildup and dandruff caused by shampoos and now I'm looking into doing ACV rinses or black tea rinses with essential oil. I did a black tea rinse with baking soda and my scalp is so clean and the build up is lifting.

I would also use gloves in the beginning. Those nails must have been filled with that gunk..Oh dear..
