Stop Unwanted Puppy Chewing with a Chew Toy

Your puppy needs to chew so it’s your job to teach them what they should chew on. The easiest way to do this is by filling a hollow chew toy with food and then giving it to your puppy. Your pup will smell the food inside the toy so they’ll want to investigate it. At first, you may need to help your pup get the first few pieces of food out, but pretty soon your pup will be off and running! Every piece of food your pup gets from their chew toy will reinforce them for playing with their toy, which will make these toys much more interesting and attractive than all the other things in your home.
We still love the original hollow chew toy, the Classic Kong, but we’ve also started to use the Planet Dog Snoop a lot as well, it’s made of a softer material that some dogs and puppies really like. (We are not sponsored, we just love these two products)
Food-filled chew toys are a great way to teach your pup to love going into their crate and spending time in their crate, and they are a great way to give your pup a fun hobby that they can enjoy when no one is available to play with them, or when it’s time for them to settle down for a nap. Anytime we confine a puppy in a crate we like to leave them with a food-filled chew toy. It’s easy to do and it will help your pup develop good habits.
