Something kind of interesting I've found is that the higher level disparity you have, the more exp you get even if the characters are killed and are extremely low level. So, if you bring in a low rank (stone or iron) character and they do anything or tank 1 hit (with resilient) and you can get upwards to ~400 exp even when you die.
As a person who finished statistics faculty myself i just love these kind of videos you do. If everything is counted for it gives you much better perspective
I like this video DB. I change my arena team based on who needs the exp… especially on double exp days. The most exp I’ve ever gotten from one battle for one character was my D1 Maugan on my ~800k arena squad killing all 5 enemy D3 characters of a ~2.4m squad. My Maugan got 1800 exp. I don’t want to throw those away.
I do try not to use too many D3's in CM league - Usually the buffers so that I can win most/all of my battles - The big thing is to be able to stay in CM league as the guaranteed legendary badges are far and away more valuable than the xp lost on those D3 characters. Towards the end game, badges are so rare! At least with books, you have a continuous source of them via the guild store.

Counter point : the amount of XP you need to get a character from 1 to 50 would take multiple years of arena battle even considering you get a lot of xp each match... Yes you technically waiste xp, but it really doesn't matter in reality, books are the only true source of xp at that level
@@DBPreacherTacticus yes of course, personally when possible I bring 1 to 2 lower level for xp purpose exclusively, 1 to 3 high level non max for power and 0 to 2 max but usually buffer type that don't usually do kills or even damage to make the lower level being able to do high damage or get kills and thus some good XP relative to them, but trying to maximize XP for 45 to 49 level characters in arena is so inconsequential it is much more of a waste for the risk of loosing placement in leaderboard and wins for rewards
@@user-jv4ll5og7j you need 2,485,200 XP / 200 XP books to get a character to level 50, at 150 000xp = 12 books, for 5 weeks it means you're looking at 83.33... weeks to make it, or 583.333 days... So more than 1.5 years and that's assuming a character capable of doing enough damages and getting enough kills to get those kind of numbers which most aren't, especially considering you probably favored that character specifically to get the most kills as you know he isn't maxed So tell me exactly how that's a gross exagerations
Another reason to play one or two D3 (Eldryon, Calgar) : it helps winning harder battles and making D1-2s make kills, so it maximises the amount of XP gained

xp is not the hardest thing to get in the game, legendary badges are the hardest thing to get and are the last bottleneck. to get those badges the best position possible in chapter master is the best way to get them in arena. also, the is the gear. top 50 in arena gives 2 guaranteed lego gear. yes, I rather have lego badges than xp.
I use only the characters that require xp during the missions for the quest completion then raid when theyre all completed unless its double xp day in which i complete each level to the end when grinding for character items. In arena, I may use a couple of my D3 characters to help ensure the win, the rest of the team is filled with those again needing the xp. The rest of my xp is bought from the books via the guild raids and archeo store
Thank you for the heads up! I completely discarded the idea that one can get a reasonable amount of XP from playing after lvl. 40 and just focussed on the tomes. changed up my line up for arena great idea/video :)
High level arena is entirely about item rewards, and the top bracket gives legendary items of which D3 is a requirement. Suggesting normal arena is for XP is wrong
I cant be asked to fool around you know. Time is valuable, I want the AI Arena to be over asap and for that I dont care about this garbage XP they give out, especially now there are fewer battles and more rewards, one of the best changes ever to this game. They could even go to 5 Token a day, I wouldnt care. So its not always about being smart.

Regardless if you love or hate Arena, Preacher is bring great information to our attention. Preacher spent hours making this video for the community. Just to have players make negative/dumb/moot statements.
Great video DB! Love your content. But This makes me think of times when people were boiling their leather belts and were spreading shoe polish on bread to eat in ww1. We really scratching at the bottom of the barrel with xp here. Sp does poor job at handling xp problem. We dont gain any xp in battles. The only ones that get are strongest and the ones who need it, end up dying. We also cant allow our selves so much playtime especially in one game mode. If you have strong revas, no matter who you bring woth her, she will be the one gaining xp and not the others. Xp gain concept needs a rework completely. And we, the players must remind sp about that.
Solid advice as always! I prefer actually using my D3 Eldryon and Ragnar/Calgar to boost others that I’m funneling XP to. Right now that’s Kharn with Aleph and Maugan as backups. This way you can also bring lower levels in and they can still nab kills. Use the Biovore mine to draw enemy AI aggro and drag the fight out to ensure kills :)

Nice video yet again. I sometimes use Calgar as a buffer for Re'vas, even thou he is D3. It normaly gives her at least 3 kills and sometimes more, depending on the teamcomp of the other. The benefit for using Calgar is pure powerlvling and seeing the 1500-1800 xp/match on sundays.
As your own spreadsheets show, the XP rewards for winning are ridiculously low. To the point that I don’t even count them. It’s still all about tomes. I don’t have the patience to level over 8 months 😅
@@ClipsFromMaine I guess now that they have greatly reduced the number of arena per day your point is well taken. Still, with my D1 Ragnar team (circa 700k power), I killed more often than not teams with over 2m power, which gives well upwards of 1k XP per game over the whole team. That's roughly 1 more XP book per day, that's nothing to b sneer at ! Even more if you manage your Sunday well and spend 20-25 tickets on Sunday, you can easily gain 3-4 XP book worth of XP on Sunday alone
My current arena team are level 44 to 47. In about two months revas and abraxes have gone from 47 to 48 and all other are almost about to level up... . For free while I level other chars for raids... . That is about 5 tomes per week, not bad since they are free. I am just so bored with arena, is good they lower the number of needed matches and added some epic tomes to compensate.
Like you said, key is difficulty AND keeping characters alive. But there are also nice rewards in Arena. So I play a mix of D3 for win/survivability and characters I'm currently building
That seems to be a common strategy and definitely one I can understand. Not sure about 5x D3 characters in honour guard league though like some people are doing 😂
I wouldn't say I'm flush with xp/ books (gold/ badges are my biggest bottleneck) but I've built up several characters with this method to lvl 50. I still keep lvl 50 revas, calgar, and Thad in my team however just to make the battles easier and faster. Also I'm in chapter master league regularly, and would get splattered if i didn't.
I have no idea about what to run in arena I left after 6 months in game couldend progress in any event log back in now stuck in Sargent league and facing everyone about 50k more power and no idea what toons to work on or use
What’s the best way to recruit, in guild wars we have 11 spots open and it makes it hard for us to win. Our team is called Biffy Clyro . I think Tacticus should put in a better way to recruit, we are a fun team but like everyone else it’s nice to get a win…
correct me if I'm wrong, but you didn't address why using D3 would result in less XP. I am assuming since that would drop the skull difficulty rating, but I don't think you said that. This is an assumption, but I fail to see a comparison between a normal load out and a D3 whale load out. maybe i missed it tho or maybe you consider it common knowledge. I only speculate though, because it is not common knowledge to me a level 49 player.
Arena still needs an overhaul. I’m in honour guard and the chests after 30 wins should drop legendary XP books not just the last chest Also SP, let me exchange legendary items for legendary XP tomes. I have 6 legendary Tyranid swords sat around. Let me get rid of 3 of them for say 3 legendary tomes each
This is ridiculous just how hard it is to lvl up in Tacticus. The amount of XP you're getting from playing is absurdly low. Devs pushing buying books on us hard
Haven't lost an arena game in a couple of months using 2 or 3 D3s. High level buffer to help my D1s and D2s rack up as much xp as possible, and the others let me recover if i make a mistake. Used to appreciate the xp gains but game experience changes over time. Although xp is a bottleneck, legendary badges are a bigger one for me nowadays. Easy 4 to 8 legendary badges per week from staying in Chapter Master, yes please
I have one gold right now, Bellator at G1 and like 9-10 silvers. I am in Honor Guard and have been for 3-4 seasons. My team is 105K power: Bellator, Arch, Eldryon, Aleph, Angrax. I rarely see teams below 100K in this league, most are 200K plus but I've seen plenty of teams over 1Mil. I look for teams that don't have all golds or better and these are usually under 300K rated teams...I don't like my chances unless the teams is 200K or less though. Also, for me its 50 wins to get the last chest, not 50 matches played. This is a pretty big distinction as with the nerfed token caps and regeneration rate you only get 70 tokens per season. The most recent season that ended I was 50-20ish. I got the chest and quit playing and had like 6 tokens left...not sure how many I entered the season with, but I know I was nowhere near capped at 15. FWIW I have tried using Re'vas a bunch of times but mine sucks. Underleveled I guess but even when I time the active right, he never kills anything as it's always tankier shit triggering the overwatch. However when I run into a Re'vas I'm fucked if it's a small map. Enemy Re'vas' destroy my team when in overwatch or if I sit through it the rest of his team destroys me.
Revas is overrated. Enemy ai is adaptated to enemy player's gameplay. Be sure if you meet my ai in arena, my chars will never throw themselves in revas overwatch.
@@Bammeaxel Yeah I can't get him to 'work' the way people discuss him. Like, I understand the mechanics and how to activate his overwatch...he just is not effective for me. Again, mine is under leveled but people act like he is a win button.
@@Bammeaxel I can't say that I've played an HRE where he was an option. I have used him on Onslaught but that mode is literally trivial and anyone works there given that you just have to avoid a total wipe on any wave and you get a replacement... As for LRE, again when I have deployed him on Flying tracks or flame or whatever multi hit he can do, he just dies.

On another note, it’s really discouraging how negative/pessimistic the Tacticus Community has become. You are trying to help the Community and it seems like players abandon all logic just to say ”no”. It’s a great idea so just hit the like button. No one asked if the Community will change their ways in support of optimization. This Community is going to ruin the game before SnowPrint’s errors or undelivered promises.

Only D3 character a use in arena is eldryon and depending on map and enemy team rewas. Otherwise a have 3-4 character highest lvl that a want exp to. Att moment thats abraxas, snotfloga, corrodius and tangida

Revas if se enemys team not optimal for may 4 other exp characters cant handle a swith revas in. And slowly geting having highest lvl characters D3 means start go to other lower characters that Will have harder time. Geting close be belator, maladus and rotbone next put in arena. Abraxas is 50% away from lvl 50 and snotfloga is 90% away be lvl 50 to. But exp go up fast for summoners get fast exp of all characters in game. Highest a had avraxas get on duble exp day was 2400 exp last week. Highest a get normaly in a maths is 800
I am managing to hover on the top10 hall of fame of Arena, and to be able to do that I gotta just win every match. I was doing as you say and avoiding using my L50 guys, but, as you also say, playing without Re'vas is shooting yourself in the foot. I decided to bite the bullet, eat the huge XP loss in exchange for guarantee easy wins, and a top 50 on chapter master more often than not (that is two legendary items per week, and a ton of badges!)
full D3 puppies in arena. for the flex on the profile card, obviously ^^ :p Also, I don't care anymore. I don't play a lot of arena nowadays. and I just like to play full-wolves. :-)
I do D3's in arena to come 1st in CL. The rewards are great. Just got 10 Leg Xenos badges and a Leg Weapon. Worth it for me. I hear you on the XP but I just use books for that from GR credz...
Yeah I think it’s a balance between the really experienced players going for those rewards and the weird ones who are in honour guard league playing d3’s for no reason 😂.
