Hit markers, armor penetration, weak points, and damage can be confusing in Helldivers 2. Let’s explain how it all works and how that will make you a better player.
When I hear somebody saying like stop doing this or stop doing that I hear ,,nooo you are not supposed to have fun playing, you need to tryhard and learn every thing about the game and enemy armour and enemy weaknesses and use meta guns🤬🤬,, xD
@@gnat4999 i meant more in general, not targeted specifically this video, and from recent experiences when ppl kicked from lobby when you didn't had a meta guns or something like that ;)
The red and white hitmarkers will still show up when using projectile weapons to shoot at the "squishy" part of larger bugs even though it deals 95% less damage.
Weapons that do explosive damage do their full damage to "squishy parts" for those unaware. For example, a stalwart will do reduced damage but an eruptor will do full damage.
@@croom332 not quite, all explosive weapons have two damage components - the actual projectile and the explosion. the explosion deals its full damage to durable targets, while the direct hit portion is still reduced by...the mechanics of durable damage and durable HP, which is actually more complicated than "non-explosives deal 10% of their damage to durable targets".
Weapons have more than one Damage value. Normal Damage Damage VS Colossal Durability Damage The squishy parts do not take normal damage, they take Durability damage. Weapons without the "Explosive" trait will only do a fraction of their normal damage value as Durability damage. If they do, the durability damage they do is 100% equal to their Normal Damage value.
for the walker, you can often see a litte of the operators dome sticking out. If you get enough time to aim precisely you can shave that bald spot straight off with a single shot.
A chargers back legs take insane damage after his charge while he skids to a halt. The hit markers don't change but even small calibers can snap the armor off.
For the laser cannon, you'll know if you're reflecting because youll see a white and blue sparkshow coming off point of impact. I say this because you don't get a marker using the laser. It is, however, pinpoint accurate so its a bot killing machine.
There's a slight viewing slot at the top of the scout strider armor. If you can get it in that slot, you will get a head shot. I've done that a lot, but it's hard to hit.
Rule 1. Liberating a planet is never a waste of ammo. Rule 2. Never listen to a gaming media outlet for actual gameplay advice. They're not speedrunners.
Thanks for the info, but ima keep doing what i want. It's just way too fun watching rounds bounce off and my friends more worried about my ricochets than the actual enemy 😂🙃
If you think your a veteran, and you just learned this, your not, also mech front plate is medium vehicle armor, not heavy, hence the hmg pen on the plate.
Situation doesn't always allow that. Sometimes you end up in a situation where going for the flank means you leave yourself open to getting shot in the back...
I don’t waste ammo, I merely get it off my teammate’s back so I can actually hit it without them needing to be reinforced 12 times for a single charger or tank
one correction the front plate of a strider is still medium armor. not heavy armor. it just just T4 medium instead of T3 medium. Heavy armor starts at T5. if you dont believe me you can see this by shooting it with a dominator/liberator penetrator, deflects, shooting it with an AMR, penetrates, but then taking the AMR and shooting a chargers head, deflects. AMR has T4 pen.
It also depends on animation cues. Due to bad coding, many enemies drop up to T3 armor during rotating motions (because the movement is not aligned correctly with their armor indicator). Most noticable with the Charger. While it's turning its body after each charge, its leg armor is negated.
@@LocherYT Bugs are not a sign of "bad code" Just incorrect code. Algorithms smarter and older than this entire comment section combined have bugs. It happens.
as someone who uses the Stalwart on the highest setting and trained on the M249 irl we machine gunners have a saying "Accuracy through volume", wasting ammo is apart of our culture
Nah, it's an AT-RT from the prequel movies. They're clone trooper walkers. An AT-ST has a fully enclosed cabin, but an AT-RT is like a roman chariot on legs. You have to stand and it only has any cover to mention from the front.
You're going to be sent to the re-education facilities for slander like that. Try thinking more democratically, and you'll understand the tutorials are flawless.
It’s actually smart to shoot back at the robots even though you’re not killing them because they have a suppression mechanic which will make them hit you less. It’s wild that some people don’t know this and it tells you in the tips
I'm learning another language and that's what my helldivers is in - I cannot understand the tips, and when I can it's * always * something like: "Never Forget.... LIBERTYYYYYYY!!!" Or something about democracy or people committing treason. Never seen (understood) a * real * tool tip before 😂😂
Fr. My favorite loadout vs the bugs is breaker incendiary with supply pack and grenade launcher then whatever I decide to bring to take out bile titans
Well i mean the game actually incorporates a enemy suppression thing when fire at them they tend to miss more like in real life its perfectly okay to hit some shots that're in the armour if you're looking to suppress the enemy
Would be nice. Monster hunter has had several diagrams over the years for monsters to show how effective say slashing / bludgeoning is on each section of the monster and how it differs Even a basic one for some of the tankier enemies would have been nice here
I like spraying bullets in HD2 Its the best part of the game I looove seeing the flashes as the bullets hit and ricochet away from chargers Besides...its pretty hard to run out of ammo in this game, there is ammo laying around every 30 m or something
@@Will_Forge with new players we start them off at dif 7 until they can handle 9 you know...the difficulty where fighting is meaningless cause enemies are never ending? where you use ammo not for kills but for supression? which is where the super epic spraying comes in :) also, i feel like maybe you play without supply daddies
The only time it actually gets confusing is splash damage. Use the punisher plasma and you get a lot of deflection symbols but since it does splash damage it hits multiple areas.
You can shoot the soft tail of the charger from the front, shoot below the mouth and it will go straight through, I do it all the time with the autocannon.
Tbh this is helpful as i didn't know about white and red. Kinda wish we could adjust the color as I'm used to red Crosshairs meaning something is dead in other games
@@mega6076 Compare the stats. The last buff , and them moving it to the assault rifle class, made the penetrator not worth picking over it. The penetrator was the only assault rifle to not receive a buff, making it's damage the lowest of all assault rifles
@@mega6076 Yeah, it's basically just a better Liberator Penetrator, with the recoil being the only reason you might not use it compared to the Lib-Pen. Otherwise it just has outright superior damage output even regardless of the smaller magazine.
They are not wasting ammo shoting on automatons and bugs even if you dont pearc armor can slow them make they accurance(sorry if i write that wrong)worst or even stop them from shoting at all
