I played a couple of rounds this weekend with the Vice Pro (Sam's Club, $48 for two dozen) and really like them. They seem to spin less off the tee for me but have plenty of spin greenside. The Srixon Soft Feel is a solid choice for a soft ball, I just find they spin a lot off the tee for me.

Very good insights! Personally, I always found that Srixon spun a bit too much for my liking as well. Happy to hear you are enjoying the Vice Pro, solid ball for the price! Thanks for watching.

I play the yellow Kirkland ball which I pick up for $17 a dozen. I hear they are too spinny for some, but they work great for my game. I play to a 12 and haven't found these balls cause any issues that affect my scores.

+1 kirklands. I'm a 6 and I find them to be fine. Sometimes they aren't super durable, but they're so cheap that its ok :D

oh and one more thing that I found out yesterday watching YT. What do Lin Grant and Lee Westwood have in common, that is most relevant to this video? They both play Ping. They both have only played Ping How many people do you know who have only played Ping? When I first started playing I had a set of irons made up with PMII heads, one club at a time, nice, big heavy heads, I could hit the ball a mile with the compared to my current DCI 981 irons, but I had to get rid of them because they had too much offset for my taste. Anyway the first two or three I had made, 1/4" over standard, I went out with a set of Ping demo irons. Hated them, went on to finish the set. Eventually decided that I had to try a set of "stock, traditional" irons so I picked up a set of DCI 981s at stock length using stock normal flex shafts off eBay for $100 for PW-3 iron. Still have the PMII 2-iron. Why don't you try a video comparing a set of new expensive Ping, Calloway, Titleist, whatever irons, blade or performance-enhancement irons, whatever, to an old set of the same mfg? You can talk all day long about the pros and cons of that comparison. Show your stuff. Get in on the Kirland scandal. $500 Kirland Taylormades vs an old used set of Titleist irons. Have at it. You can even hit some new and scuffed $4 balls and show that there is a real difference :)

I just got the pro V1 at $44 a dozen. So I olay the Pro V1, chromesoft, or tour response stripe. I don’t mind spending money on a good ball. I don’t lose golf balls often so it doesn’t bother me.

$44 for a box of ProV1s is a great deal! It's certainly a great golf ball, and at that price I think a lot of people would buy it. Thanks for watching!

Unpopular opinion: When you hit well, and understand the softness or hardness you don’t have to worry about what golf ball you’re hitting.

If you need some discount golf balls, come to hole 17 at the club where I play. Not a driver hole, but many people hit driver there anyways. Bring a ball retrieval tool or some wading boots 😂

Ok, if you are going to over spend on golf balls at your club or your favourite muni you are supporting the club professional. Looking for budget balls that fit your game is the best option. And shop the deals, right.
@ScratchGolfTips
@ScratchGolfTips 3 месяца назад
From my experience in working in golf, the club professional does not get any cut of merchandise sales from the pro shop itself. They are generally paid on a salary or hourly rate, and can make extra money from lessons, sales on balls and apparel just go to the clubs bottom line. Thanks for watching!
@brianclark3503
@brianclark3503 3 месяца назад
Must be different up here in Canada then? Some pros have the carts, the merch and lessons they also have the liability and overhead to deal with. Others are called "Director of Golf" when the club keeps the revenue from the pro shop and the cart rentals. I hate overspending on balls but we don't have to go in for the big names best golf balls. Shop the sales!

My goal was not to come across that way, and I'm not sure if you watched the full video but I say, “I’m not telling you how to spend your money, your money is your own, I’m just giving you the different options that people use to save and spend money in golf. @@ScratchGolfTips ...thank you, Captain Obvious. So let's watch your video all the way through and see if there are any other obvious comments. Sorry, your video is just too verbose, irrational and stupid to watch all the way through. And forgive me but I''m a math major and we are trained not to sit and tolerate irrational bullshit on general principle First, you video is full of iinane and obvious factoids. Second, your personal commentary is irrational. There are pros and cons to every perspective. You choose to see consistency in playing the same ball as pro in and of itself, when in reality its a con. And I'm not just saying that as a YT commenter. I've played a lot of golf with a lot of different balls on a lot of different courses, at several levels of play, from the high 120s to the low 80s over the years, and one thing I can definitely tell you with a lot of shots behind it is that it is a great thing to play different balls especially when you combine that with finding a lot of balls which rarely are going to all be the same type much less the same level of quality compared to factory-fresh balls and compared to each other, not to mention generations. For most players spin is not EVEN an issue except hitting driver and even then into or across a stiff breeze. That is where the heavier balls like the classic Pro V1 really shine, because they will spin off the intended flight path a lot less then the lighter newer ping-pong like golf balls. They are not that rare either as they tend to find their way into the woods where players who are too lazy to go after them will leave them for more adventurous players. Players with suitable ball-retrieval equipment, players willing to go into the woods, even into the thorns to get balls. You're advising players to stick to a certain type of all and miss out on all the benefits of experimenting with free balls? Get serious. That's one of the best things about playing golf: finding spots where people have abandoned buckets of balls and loading up the bag with good balls and not having to pay a cent for good balls to play for months. Just plain stupid not to do that. And if you decide to play some in preference to others, there you can make some points with your playing partners by graciously tossing them a few of their favorite balls. Because golf is not all about score. And sometimes if you're that unsure about a shot costing a ball, you learn to take a better drop and hit a less-risky shot rather than trying to Joze Maria Olazabal a shot into a tight pin adjacent to a lake. From whatever distance. Just not worth the risk if you care that much about that ball. But probably you have a ball hat you don't mind losing, sitting in your bag that you found lying behind a log somewhere. Old nasty-looking balls are great for sacrificial shots if you must take them rather than taking a much safer shot with near-zero chance of losing the ball and the one or even two strokes that go with a lost ball. You might even make the shot because you're not worried so much about losing the ball. On the other hand when you think that your game is up to snuff? Go ahead and spend the $55 on a pack of 12 Pro-V1s. Test your mettle. But remember whatever you buy at the pro-shop that's brand new, you can ind in Wal-Mart or Target for a fraction of the price especially off-season, a great time to load-up on good new balls. But even so, sometimes I still will walk into a pro-shop and buy a dozen balls "just in case"...you can do that much more easily when it's a "once or twice a season" event.. The bottom line is that finding a cache of used balls just waiting there for you is not an event that you should pass-up, it's like getting free money when you go to the bank. It may not be the exact denomination that you want but it's still good money. Just be careful when picking one up that's in play as it could be a wayward shot from the guy heading that way through the woods from the adjacent teebox. So sorry just too much stupidity too often.to sit here and be assaulted by another 6 minutes of rank stupidity. I'm sure that you can do better than this and I hope that you succeed. ...and golf balls, could you find an easier subject to pontificate about? Try breaking this into multiple parts so over time I might randomly stumble into something worth listening to. You can always make a video like this about golf clubs that would make far more sense than this one. Are those $15 clubs in the barrel worth buying and playing relative to the $300 clubs that you can find at a golf warehouse? Sure! Hell I should do that comparison myself a few times.
