I'm just buying travel sizes and stuff. Yeah you miss out on the presentation but you get a good idea of the fragrance. With my collection, 10 ml will serve me a long time. And if i do finish it within a year, that is a sign i should get a full bottle

Another tip. Start out with a high quality, versatile fragrance. I started with Terre dHermes and it stopped me from buying a lot of other possibly cheaper fragrances because i ask myself what situations would i prefer this fragrance over Terre dHermes. Its good at work, good most of the year, etc.

I agree. After a lot of fragrances, the ones I still go for are the more versatile fragrances. You just can't go wrong with profumo for instance. I'm loving Chanel platinum egoiste too at the moment which is more of a more mature vibe.

I know Omar recommends quality over quantity but I have chosen a hybrid approach of cheapies, clones, designer and the odd niche to come up with a 30 odd (seems about right for my usage). Sometimes the quantity does help in terms they are good for daily drivers (where you just smell better than everyone else by virtue of wearing something) but the perceived higher quality is reserved for special occasions (smell fantastic). I luv watching these vids for the expert advise and one day I do plan to but Amoauge Interlude Black Iris

Great tips. I don’t mind the clones tho, esp if someone really doesn’t have the budget. There are some clones I’d rather have bc they offer something the original doesn’t or the twist is preferred (Asad vs. elixir)

Clones are amazing and I am a huge advocates for clones. There are several high quality clones out there that smell amazing on their own for much, much cheaper than the original. Plus, nobody can tell the difference anyway. Do you want to smell good or brag about what cologne you’re using and how much it cost? Once I came to this realization, I was pro clones!

Clones are the way to go f9r more expensive sent, if you like the "original" fragrance, period. I've tried many "Clones" while having the original, and decide Clones are the way to go, because sometimes they are even better.

I own some expensive and great niche fragrances. But why do you hate on Nautica Voyage?! It’s not mind blowing, but it’s not a bad fragrance. I don’t wear it on a date or a special situation. But on a warm summer day I’ll occasionally throw it on for running errands, etc. It’s like comparing a Casio G Shock to a Rolex. Both good watches, but obviously way different price points and for different circumstances and situations.

Bought spicebomb infrared edt to barely wear it bcse the openining smells of bug spray. Then the edp came out not to long after which smells 1000 times better.

Great point on clones which loops back to the first point of cheap perfumes. I understand wanting to smell a certain way but not having the money to afford the original. But for me I get tired of one perfume quickly and I always have to change it up. I'm wearing even my favorite perfumes maybe 3-4 times per month. So at that point when a bottle lasts years before running out, getting the original will always be worth because for those 3-4 times per month I want that 100% perfect smell of the original and not the 80-95% of the clone. But I realize that not everyone can or wants to do it like that. If you love a certain perfume so much you go through a bottle a month, sure get the clone so you dont go broke.

i would love to see a beginner fragrance collection video, and by that i mean, a top 10 fragrance a beginner should have, you always split the collection into versatile, date, etc. but i feel like even though there might be overlap its worth for a beginner to smell (lets say) prada luna rossa black (to get the nose on pure tonka) and la nuit de lhomme (cardamom) even if they are both used on dates, or for example DNAs like sauvage or Acqua di gio

I tend to think of what occasions I could wear the scent first and then decide if I like it or not. For clone house they tend to be better overtime so there's no fear of missing out.

I don’t appreciate clones but for some perfumes the price is ridiculously high. IFRA is the fig leaf where perfume houses hide after having done not one but fifteen reformulations. It is a mockery only to increase profits

I've realized that, for the most part, clones are good at smelling very similar to original fragrances, but it stops there.. Other factors, such as the quality of the scent and the way it smells off the skin, become more apparent and important.. I'd rather own a couple of originals rather than 5 clones..

I know he hasn't advised clones but I can't see a better option than armaf iconic. I've owned both bleu de chanel edp and iconic. Chanel is better blended and slightly better quality but iconic lasts so much longer and a quarter of the price. The best dumb reach out there imo

Don't hesitate to go to a shop and trying them on your skin, because the dry down made me realize most of my seemingly favorite perfumes are horrible and cloying in the dry down. Especially from Indian Summer perspective sweat is a given. That literally narrowed down my choices. Thankfully I did not buy a lot in the beginning out of excitement from yt reviews.

Every nose is different. Trust your own senses and wear what you really like. And get small bottles first. Your nose will develop over time and sometimes a fragrance you used to really like, can even start annoying you. Regarding redundancy: it is okay to have a preferred fragrance type. I personally like dark and blue scents a lot. Be careful to not only buy those types of fragrances though. As Omar said, you will end up only using your two favorites.

Just speaking for myself, I had to learn all these lessons the hard way. I too bought tons of cheap designer fragrances at the beginning, I still like them, but I prefer the high end perfumes nowadays. And yeah, if you love the DNA just get the original, I have a handful of clones and I'll end up giving them away, waste of money and space.

Respectively disagree with you regarding clones. In some markets (South Africa), the originals are incredibly expensive. Plus good clones are a good way of gauging whether the OG is worth it. Blind bought Lattafa Asad recently (eq $20), I think it's fantastic however since people say it's 90% close, I don't think the Elixir is worth it's crazy price. (eq. $150) P.S I think all fragrances are over-priced at the moment.

Consider your local climate, what do you do for living and your social bubble; and OF COURSE your own criteria. *What I do is buying originals of fragances I like and use most, then decants 10ml/20ml of the "ocasionally use" ones, and dupes/arabs of the "mmmmeh but i'll like to use" fragances. Have fun!

Some youtuber said it's for régulation. It's easer and chaeper for a compagny to keep the same recipes. They have to pay perfumer to make the tests for getting close as possible from the og recipes.

Evething is synthetic these days stop saying fragrances smell synthetic, synthetics in fragrances can smell natural . Get samples . Although I grudge paying for them as they should be free , sometimes companies will send out some though. Buy fragrance oil versions there only a few ££ .Don't listen to Jeremy fragrance, you'll be ok then 😅.
