Same droughty conditions here in NW Indiana. Been doing the sprinklers in the morning on dry days. Totally forget about the hydratain maybe that can assist coming through these summer months. Cool last name.

The Hydretain pls
@ShaneHeath

You can apply anytime, but I would shoot for the time of the year you are dry and not getting alot of rain. I wouldn't apply if ground is frozen and temps are low

Good advice. Nitrogen can’t drive the bus anywhere if the pH is too high or low.

I would also suggest not relying on the same soil test company. You can get the same soil from the same hole, and have several different results.

I’ve used the Yard Mastery soil test kit for the last 2 seasons. It’s very helpful in getting you the numbers you need to make decisions about your lawn care.
@programmingchicago
@programmingchicago 3 года назад
@@natewalls4850 I have used it too. Then I did another, and the numbers don't match. But, they always say try your local extension office, so that is what I will try next.
@programmingchicago

@@natewalls4850 Not saying it's wrong or right, just make sure to use others too, and see if it matches up.

Great advice Shane ! Last year I couldn’t understand why I was struggling to get the results from the products I was putting down. Did a soil test and found out my ph was at 3.5. Raised it up to 6.5 (after 420lbs of lime). Made all the difference in the world !

When's the best time of year to test your soil??
@ShaneHeath
@ShaneHeath 3 года назад
For me best time is spring so I can perfect things before peak of my growing season but a soil test can be done anytime of the year, no wrong time
@vjgarozzo

@@ShaneHeath Got it. How long to get your results? I have the same kit. Have just never used it. I have constant thatch and fungus issues. Think it's time for a soil test lol.

Yeah here in South Texas my Bermuda yard is looking good , about 8 inches of rain in a month or less. We just need the heat and sunshine to really push it. I know in July and August here it's going to be struggling though. Also a soil kit is a must have Imo to get your yard to that next level.
@ShaneHeath
@ShaneHeath 3 года назад
I need about 3 inches of that rain, we have maybe got an inch of rain in about 2 months

@@ShaneHeath I'm sure our luck is running out soon lol, last year once July 5th hit it was 100+ for 3 weeks straight and no rain..... Bermuda Yard went from amazing to Meh even with decent irrigation.

Humic acid does not help with soil compaction. Sorry. I thought it did too. Check out the video about Humic acid in The Grass Factor channel.
