2k16 had the perfect amount of story in mycareer. When vic died I was shook. Now they go too over the top.

The stories in the beginning was cool cuz they at least gave you some feeling of what the life of a player is in and outside of basketball but tbh once they did away with the post game press conference and took summer league and the invitational out it’s like bruh why? Those are cool real life features. What id like to see them do is have the McDonald’s all American game after your high school career then like in the ncaa games choose a bunch of schools but wait to signing day to choose who u play for

Just slide over the "Choose your Era" function, to replace MyCareer Story Cringe. 2K, who also creates the WWE 2K series, can easily add a curator mode to MyCareer. They are so greedy and scared to have their greed suffer, they prevent their players from having any control over their experience.

I think stripping mycareer down to the bare bones like we had in 2k10 is a bit extreme but I see where you coming from. Ideally they do something to a mix of 2k13 and 2k16. You're a top high school prospect who gets recruited to multiple colleges, which shouldn't be that big a problem now with NIL, and play out your college season that determines your draft stock. From there you interview and workout with teams and get drafted with your on court play and post games decision deciding your teams chemistry. You can still go and talk to management once you have enough influence over the team and push for trades, certain changes in the rotation and even talk to your coach about the way you are or are not playing at the time. There could still be a practice facility for practice events, a weight room where you can workout in and grind for different boosts or upgrades and a home for your player that you can customize to your liking. If you want to layer in an optional story to all of that to give the character some depth that's fine but don't force it down the throat of the audience or make it something unbelievable like someone being a DJ one day then in the NBA the next. Keep the story simple and more decision driven than anything else allowing for how the player responds to certain situations or questions come to develop his over all behavior and his demeanor, for instance you could be someone who is super flamboyant and responds to questions in a bombastic way and have a character who acts and behaves like a Magic Johnson or a LeBron James or you could be super mellow and grounded and have a guy who acts like Tim Duncan. Just my thoughts.

I think there should be 2 modes (mycareer) and (mystory) in mycareer we can get the 2k10 type of game and with mystory they can give options and backstories to choose from.

Forcing you to do the storyline they want ironically leads to less roleplaying ability. Back in the day where you just made a character and played basketball, it allowed you to come up with your characters story yourself. Now you have to be one thing

Storylines are just there to lead you to buy VC and take part in ingame advertisements

This may piss alot of people off, but 2K17 had the greatest PURE MyCareer and offline MyCareer experience, in 2K history. Horrible gameplay, loading screens, and copy and paste parks... but a memorable MyCareer mode.

I actually want a better more expanded story mode, however there should never be a quest preventing you from playing NBA games, or getting anything else the story should just be fun and maybe extra VC/clothing

2K16 2K17 story lines was 🔥🔥

I have a strange, extremely open but weirdly specific idea for a new my career. I want it to start at birth, you pick your parents, height, race, occupation, highest athletic skill level played and "talents" they can pass down/ teach.. then you are like 7 we don't know how tall you are gonna be yet, you're basically randomly sized competing against other young kids, your skills improve solely based off of your performance.. (made shots help scoring stats, assists help passing stats etc .) After 5-6 kids games you move to middle school with those skillets you developed, based off your genetics of the parents you picked your either small medium or tall for a middle schooler, you may be some short kid who killed it scoring at the basket and you equate more to a driver even though now u may be growing or not, play 4-5 games around that age and based on what ur "working on" or what your play style is more of your skills are developed, then you move on to highschool where it gets more complex, based on your parents genetics that you choose you will find yourself playing within your grown height range, say your dad is 6'3" and ur mom is 5'7" pretty tall genetics, you may be anywhere between 6'1"- 6'8" it will be luck of the draw how much you grow but u come into highschool on the low end and progress and grow through those years finding your true position, say yu luck out and you grow to 6'7" you now based upon play style and skill be assigned your more permanent position based on the skills u have utilized in the past (inside scoring dominant=C or PF, combo scoring= SG or SF, excess skill at passing= PG likelyhood also based on genetics) based upon your growth spurt and performance in highschool you are evaluated by college scouts giving u a 1-5 star rating and list of colleges you can go to with more options being presented to those who have played well.. you go into college as a 55-65 overall with skills tailored to how you have played thus far and based on ur success, you now have 1-4 years of 10 game college seasons to earn your playing time/ draft status, when content with ur level to enter the league you can declare for the draft, based off of your stats and achievements you can now improve your overall to something worthy of your draft status determined by the games vc calculator.. considering you are considered a high level talent you are then taken in the draft into the league, even if ur character sucks it earns atleast a g league deal and it goes from there on the traditional vc system as always based off ur in game performance whether that be in the G league or NBA. Once 75 overall is achieved you are signed by an NBA team if in the G league still.

It's why I play NBA 2k14 on the PC, no story BS, no BS to go through, just play games and build your character

I stopped playing when they had me going all over town doing random BS quests. Them: "Why don't you go gain rep with Rando_Man so that we can open up the opportunity to gain rep with Rando_Woman so that you can go ride a skateboard ... " Me: "Why don't I just go play a different game..." /Uninstall

the story became too heavy compared to the gameplay. I remember college feeling like a drag because of all the unnecessary drama. like you say, if it were a situation where I could choose how I wanna be off court then it wouldn't feel like I'm stuck playing a character I didn't ask for. I think if they want to put in a story, then they should do it how they did 2k7 but have the blacktop become a story mode where you build a rep playing in tournaments across the world, let alone the US and you can use them in the park. that way your nba career character can be focused on the NBA aspects aswell as being able to bring them to the park and not having a dragged out narrative to follow if you don't want to.

I want my career mode back into original state let me explain from frist my player mode we got nba2k10 witch rip kobe Bryant in that cover on that myplayer mode in my career mode i will love to see i hope nba2k see it

I am on previous gen and maybe things are different on current/next gen but I felt like the past couple of years have been really good with the story. There is a story to play, but it's mostly over by the time you get to the league and you can skip it completely without it really holding you back.

Bring back 24/7 mode from 2k4 - 2k7..... or just give us the 2k10 my career with just the games, the combine, and no story.

Also, get rid of the park bull shit and just bring back lobbies, so we can match make and hop right into a street game. Instead of having to walk around a stupid city just to get to the park and STILL have to wait inline at the court just to get a game going......that's why i play nba live 19. I can matchmake right into a park game instantly.

I miss the 2k11 mycareer the special match ups the rivalry matchups shit was fun the endorsement deals everything it’s still fun to this day whenever I load up my 360 kinda tired of the city and all of this super extra stuff I miss loading up my player and just jumping into the games and stuff

The other problem is the ai gms idiotic signings and trades. I made a 6'3 point gaurd why the fuck would you sign jalen green who does the same thing I do and is also undersized? If they made the gms better they would make it that they build a team around your needs

I definitely feel the same way the stories I never pay attention to or really care about I’m just trying to upgrade my player and get badges (though you get virtually no VC for anything but that’s a different video). But everything is tied into the story which I understand because it secretly gave a lot of VC but it’s just irritating like you couldn’t pick your teams uniforms until after you did courting calloway or the basketball tournament and how you had to do those 3v3 games with Tyler Herro J.Cole like those were so irritating and pointless. You really have no creativity in MyCareer but I will say 2K16 the one Spike Lee made that had to be the best one because you still had somewhat control from high school and college and even though you only played I think 8 games your rookie season you had free agency where you were free to pick whatever team. Then your off-days you could choose what to do customize your gym the 3 parks that one was A1. 2K14-15 were good MyCareers but the best imo was 11 that was probably the most realistic. You had the showcase games vs John Wall Evan Turner Boogie all them then your performance affected your stock and just because you got drafted doesn’t mean anything. You had the summer league and if you were trash you got sent to the D-League just straight basketball if it goes back to its roots I don’t think anyone would complain. But the internet and social media has too much of an influence now they want people to do MyCareer to see J.Cole or Quavo Lil Yatchy Dr. Disrespect people we don’t care about in a basketball game. On top of them knowing it’s their cash cow.

I wanna pick my career since it’s supposed to be my career let me be a once in a life time generational talent whose been on the radar since middle school but there’s a catch I stayed 4 years in college in order to win 4 national championships 4 in a row breaking multiple ncaa records now that the 4 years is up I have no choice but to declare for the nba draft as a no question 1st pick but do I show why I didn’t declare for the draft sooner because I would fail in the nba or do I show why the nba wasn’t ready for me
