THANK YOU for watching and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Just as a side note, I received some worried comments thinking that the last bit of the video ("yada yada Patreon") is a glitch (wrong voiceover inserted), but it actually isn't. Everything is fine and as intended, I just wasn't feeling creative enough for my Patreon marketing speech 😏

I really enjoy your honesty. You don’t pretend to be someone apart from yourself. e.g. ‘too lazy to stow the dinghy’ and showing a potential crash landing at the dock. We have all done things that we later regret (or were lucky to get away with). Thanks for taking us on your life journey. Would love to have swum with the orcas though it may have been a tad cool for a dip. 😳

As someone born and raised on the Norwegian coast [and having spent most of my career as a merchant mariner across the globe], I'm time and again struck by the fact that you're actually serving as a _tremendous_ 'ambassador' to my country and it's very long stretched out coastline! . . . . (Fun fact; The entire Norwegian coastline along the mainland, in and out fjords is a bout 24.000 Km [or roughly 14913 miles, or appr.12959 Nautical miles, or _half the distance around the Equator,_ if you include every single island, the sum _total_ of Norway's coastline - reaches a whopping 102 937 km!) BTW; That getting alongside in Nyksund was done by none other than a bona fide _natural!_ . . . 😉👍⚓

Love seeing your videos. Your cinematography has been improving very quickly! I once had a similar experience with a pod of orcas and it made all the work and upkeep that comes along with a sailboat worth doing. They stayed with the boat for 5 minutes or so, in the early morning moonlight. One came up along side for a closer look and covered the cockpit in some pretty gross spray. It was like something out of a National Geography Film. Keep the content coming and keep us along for the ride!

Rusty steel poles are the Norwegian trademark. You can see them all over the coast. Usually Navionics help you out anyways.
@AlluringArctic
@AlluringArctic 3 года назад
Yep, just that this time the supposed colors of the markers were not in Navionics, found them in local charts though! Good thing about the iron poles is that they can not move (like floatable markers sometimes do, especially in areas with ice)
@MiQBohlin
@MiQBohlin 3 года назад
Quite! I noticed that they weren’t in Navionics - and still aren’t. I know several fairways along the Norwegian cost where you can’t tell the difference, but combining visual with charts works well in most places.

Mesonychids were similar in size to a wolf, but their feet were ungulates. Looking for food they started getting deeper into the water and in an evolutionary process that took millions of years, they developed fins, lost the fur, and the shape of their teeth modified until they reach an anatomical design fully adapted to marine life.

That was a challenging harbor entry, but at least the weather was nice. Strange that these markers did not use international practice, port hand has red can (square), starboard hand, a green cone. That way the shape would guide you despite these rusty poles.

The lateral system is not “a standard”. As long as there are two different standards: Region A and Region B. Region A is Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania and Greenland. Region B is N & S America, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hawaii, and Rapa Nui.

Those poles are a bit low so if there were markers attached to the top they might be carried off bu storms. The few poles I've seen in Maine are all leaning over at some angle from battering by waves.
