If you want to make your playing partners “ooh and ah” you need the one-hop-stop wedge shot. Nothing riles up the crowd more than high spin around the greens. Not only is this an exciting shot for everyone involved, it is highly functional because it gives you stopping power. When you know how to stop the ball quickly around the greens, your game will improve, and those scores will come down. In this video, Michael Breed explains why you’re not getting spin on the golf ball, and then shows you how to solve the problem. He’ll show you various methods to increase your spin that can all work together, and can also be used individually. When you master all of these techniques, you’ll be able to add maximum spin, and varying levels of spin you can use to handle all shots around the greens.

Another great video. Two questions: 1. How open do you make the face? Is it slight vs quite open? More open brings the edge in play and potential blading of you don’t hit it perfect. 2. How do you control distance (obviously with practice!) but kind of thinking around the green vs 30 or 50 or 75? Oh, I it looked like you kept your stance square while releasing left. Is that correct? Or did you open stance a little too? Thanks for all the great tips!

I often use my 60° most anywhere around the green and am pretty good with it. With a 3/4 shot (55 yards) I can generate 11k rpm. I tend to hit it lower so the one hop stop works quite well. I don't care to have it land and rip off the green. Chuck it late helps so much.

Very informative video, Michael, as usual. When first trying out this technique on the practice range, especially the "chuck it late and left," I figure that I may skull it once or twice? Any advice for when that happens?

Sauce? Awesome 🎵?? Spin for me, MAMA?! Yabada-do?!?! I think I may have woken up to an alternative universe. Joking aside, I will be chucking it left with the face open
