The Anirudh Varma Collective presents to you - 'Stories of Kalyan' - A live single from our 2nd Live Production, at the Sathya Sai International Centre in August 2018.
Stories of Kalyan is an interplay between the two facets of the 'Kalyan Thaat' or family in Indian Classical Music - Ragam Kalyani in the Carnatic context & Raga Yaman in the Hindustani context.
The arrangement is a 4 part movement, depicting 4 broad perspectives in 'Kalyan'. The track features 11 wonderful musicians, who come together to create 'Stories of Kalyan'. Hope you enjoy this one!

That auditorium sound of people moving, coughing before the song starts and then the total silence, makes me feel I am in auditorium. Beautiful sound design.

Your compositions and arrangements are so beautiful that it made me fall in love with Hindustani. In classical I mostly only listened to Carnatic until I started listening to your music. You have brought together an ensemble of so many brilliant artists. I never comment on RU-vid videos, but I had to for a video of yours that I wrote this comment after listening to so many of your videos in a single stretch for almost an hour and a half.

6:43 and 8:25 onwards - the guitar work is just fabulous on this. Shrikant Biswakarma nailing them grooves! Amazingly written to not overpower other instruments and at the same time pop out fabulously throughout the mix.

Anirudh hats off to your arrangement and composition, I have listened to a couple of them and they all invariably touch the soul. In this one Prateek and Narasimhan were a revelation. And what do I say about Soumya, one of the richest voices I have heard, what depth, resonation and add to that her mijaz, she is just steeped in sur! When are you guys coming to play in Delhi next?

Fantastic work!! Been following your work for quite some time now, and this one really is an epic fusion between Carnatic and Hindustani Classical. Could you please tell us what are the names of the bandishes you've played, and are they your compositions? Because the melodies are absolutely mesmerizing!!
