I’m 64 years old and I’m so glad there is some body in my age group even though you’re younger than I, felt I was too old for this you give me motivation. After going back to school after thirty years to get my BA in film studies this should be a breeze. This video helps me a lot thanks Mellissa mom!
You all prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
Love that I just found you and love how generous you are to all of us out here who are considering this very Ebay re-seller's life to supplement our lost retirement income and the new taxes we have had to pay beginning last year. This year's taxes were 8x's more than last, which we have to pay in 4 months. Disasterous! Many thanks for sharing the hopeful possibilities!! About to buy a denim jacket from you for Fall. Hugs!
Not even lying, you look in your mid to late 40s. Woot woot! I just became a full time reseller in April, after doing it part time for about a year while working my full time job that I had for 10 years. Now I need a house with a massive basement or a good garage. LOL.
I watched the entire thing! I justified it by telling my husband I was working! Hahaha! You know like a safety video for a new employee?! This was great Karen. I completely love your basement warehouse, the keeping it real room with backlog inventory, and your office packing room. You’re so organized. Everything you’ve shown in this video is invaluable, thank you. I am sure there are videos for editing the sound, so that you can take us shopping with you. I can’t wait for that. Great video.
Safety video lol!! I agree such a great video I spent so much time watching videos I need to flip it around and do my listings but it’s so hard to resist
I have tried to get in touch with you Karen. I am looking for a green clear lamp I saw in your basement. I really want the green lamp and a lampshade is not needed. Thankyou francescmills1@aol.com
I love watching you shop and your clothing hauls I have been watching you for several years now, and want to tell you that I am not seeing your labels like I used to, something about your lighting, please see if you can do something about it, I will greatly appreciate it, you are amazing, keep up the great job!
Omg I’m so happy to have found a reseller that keeps their items like this... I do it this way and when watching other resellers I feel like I’m doing it wrong! Thank you for showing us this!
I'm in year 3 of full time, I'm blown away with how organized you are. I think I have some work to do in that department. My major issue right now is the death pile is using up too much of my space.
Thank you for sharing you store. I just love Mellisa. She is lovely. I enjoy seeing her and her talented husband on RU-vid. Mellisa’s channel has helped me very much with the resale world. I was a dental assistant for 20 years and I’m just thrilled to here about you getting a new smile. How exciting! Take care, Leslye
Love all her videos? So much fun and I love how she says this video was so long.... honestly it wasn’t, you’re teaching us all and we love that!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi. Found your channel after a post on Hairy Tornado's channel. I'm so impressed with your organization & how nicely decorated you have your office & shipping space. You have obviously invested quite a bit of money in keeping your inventory organized. It all looks like great quality and will last for as long as you need it. I just started my eBay store ON Apr 1, 2021. Watching this video gives me something to shoot for. I look forward to learning more from you. Gonna go check out your daughter's channel now. Have a great day!!!
I am a brand new Lavender Clothes Line fan! I’ve been enjoying watching you and Mellissa the past couple of days. I looked you up after you ran into Drew, Crazy Lamp Lady’s boyfriend in yesterday’s flea market video!!! I want to jump into reselling and you give me so much courage. Mellissa’s videos answer so many questions I have about photography, postage, shipping, etc. You are both so generous sharing your knowledge and experience! Thank you for being you!
Thanks for a great video. I needed it. I watched another video from a reseller who has decided to stop doing a lot of things for her buyers and it made it so sad. It's great to see you maintaining such a professional approach to your business.
I think I saw that one too. I think if someone is tired of work that goes into clothing, they can find another niche. I personally clean just about everything because that thrift store smell is so strong. I can especially tell some thi gs were donated dirty and they are not just stuffy.
Thank goodness for Melisa. We have a dymo printer because of her recommendation. Love your sweet daughter and her channel. I pray she and Bear were safe in the recent storm. I am actually preparing to move to Florida. My hubby is busy enclosing our carport to a nice heated and cooled garage. When we had a new AC unit installed last year we had them run the duct work. Our back porch is becoming a sunroom. And he has built gorgeous decks for a pool , hot tub and soon an outdoor dinning area. Our neighbors ask why don’t his if you are moving Florida. It is to be able to get a lot more money for our house. Looking forward to the new place we pick out in Florida. Hope I get to see Melisa when I move. We are looking more north closer to Ocala but we love to visit the beach in the area bear and Melisa live In. And our daughter is finishing up her internship. She earning her doctorate. So we tag along with her to the wonderful places she gets to work all over beautiful Florida. I do love where you live. Basement s are so nice. Our new garage will be our storing / shipping and photographing area. I am turning 58 next week and I am get excited about each year I get older. I’m disabled but I have quality of life. My husband is doing resales full time after 30 years as a Union Journeyman electrician. I love to wrap things very pretty with ribbons. Melisa taught me that, I do want the person who bought it to get excited. Like it’s a gift. And I always put a little something in extra. And I try to make sure everything ships out in cute packaging. I love it when I have a good day and I get to help. I buy shipping supplies from a sweet girl on poshmark. She makes custom stickers. And always sends something extra. Her name is @custmmaildesign. She is awesome! So if you need poly mailers or labels please check her out. Enjoyed being in the basement with you. Thank you ! Leslye
Soooo very professional! Anyone receiving an item from you is a very happy customer! Excellent way to store your inventory and ship. I am so impressed!!
Thank you so much for making my husband and I feel that we are not the only resellers with inventory all over the house. Let's face it, the more room you give us, the more stuff we'll get to resell. Very nice to see how you have things organized, you have some good ideas in there! I do like that pink dish and the light fixture was dreamy!!
This was SO inspiring! Love some of your packing tips; even though I've been selling for 6 yrs....one can always learn new things! New to your channel; will catch more of your videos
I love the floating box method. I shipped an entire set of dishes very carefully wrapping each dish separated and wrapping Styrofoam around each plate. After that I wrapped with a sturdy clear wrap protecting each plate. It all survived going to the East coast.
I do my inventory just like you do..I have learned so much from you about shipping, you are so good to share your process. I can’t wait to see you trip to the dentist and I am so proud for you. You are just so smart and kind! Thank you!
Again, these videos are excellent. You are soooo thorough & precise. Really like your concern for customers, which of course translates to more profits & fewer problems. Thanks
Impressive organization. We're passing 400 listings and in the process of renovating a garage into a heated space to move our "hustle" into. Appreciated the insight.
Wow! This video was completely amazing! Thank you so much LC!! My brother MJ told me about you and I will definitely be tuning in to you and Mellisa! I’m a new reseller and just love all the gold Nuggets you provide!! Have a wonderful day! :). AJPG
Wow, that's quite an operation. Much respect for all the work you do. I actually think your system better. The default categorization is so logical. You inspire me to keep going. 🥰
This was a great video. I watched the entire thing. You’re an awesome teacher. This was extremely motivating and helped to alleviate a lot of my own fears when it comes to shipping. I’m 61 yo and have been a terrible procrastinator when I comes to actually starting my business. I have everything organized pretty well, but had hit a roadblock of FEAR when it came to shipping. Thank you so much, and keep up the great work. ;)
Just discovered your channel yesterday. I've been binge watching your videos! I love you soft spoken appropriate & simple straight forward info. Thank you so much for all the helpful videos!! 💗
You are such a sweet genuine Women. I’m so lucky that, we’ll even though I don’t know you personally, I’m able to spend time with you shopping, picking, Flea Markets etc. I think you are such a “Breath of Fresh Air”. If only we had more People like you in the World!! 🦋
Nice to hear this! I often feel quite guilty when shop owners give me funny looks for checking out with piles and piles of stuff :( it sometimes feels as though they feel like im ripping them off or that I know some kind of secret they aren't in on.. But like you said it's so so much work being an online seller, so much goes on behind the scenes!!
I agree. This is a lot of work. Yes you buy it for a few dollars and you sell it for a lot more in some cases but from shopping, listing, sorting, storing, pulling, packaging, whew, a lot of time and labor invested beyond what you paid originally. Honestly, the things look brand new in most cases and you've taken such care through the entire process. I could never do what you do.
I appreciate so much that you took the time to show people how to pack that's been one of my main concerns and doing this business and I thank you so much for what you share and what you do
I love the cart & if I were you I would stick with it. At least there is an option to move it if you want to, takes up way less room then a table and easier to tuck off to side rather than a table always in one spot taking up room.
Love seeing how you organize everything!! That is definitely my weak point- so I love getting ideas of how to do it better! I am so impressed with your system and how on top of things you are! Especially with so many items and with such good price points! I can't wait to watch more of your videos! I have so many questions for you! Thank yo for sharing! Lots of success in your business!
Karen, I just gotta tell you, you have the most awesome voice ever! I love it! And I love your videos because I literally learn AT LEAST 2 things everytime. God bless you girl
This is great the way you have everything is how I try to store mine, I pre pack most of my items like you do yours, I add a label with the item number as well, i do have lots of toys that don’t fit as nice and only have a garage to storage. Love your space and your organization skills. Thank you for sharing
I used to have a business where I manufactured breakable items. I had an account with UPS, they required double boxing. I had that business for 12 years and hardly ever had any breakage. I’m amazed how the cost of shipping has gone up and ya I need to learn how to best ship now days. 😊
I would be so excited to receive an item packed with plastic grocery bags! Bags cost 10 cents each where I live, that is actually a high cost void filler here 😂
Great tips. I would of cut the large box down for the boots, 4 slits and fold over. Of course I don't sell a fraction of what you do so I have plenty of time. Love your storage area and how organized you are.
I love this video, thank you for sharing. The interview you did with Melissa really inspired me to go at Ebay seriously earlier this year. Thank you for the inspiration. Hoping to have success like you. I said a prayer that all goes well with the dental journey.
Hi Karen! Thank you for another informative and wonderfully presented video. I am 77, so I E Bay, just a bit. But I am rewatching this presentation because you share such information in your videos. Sometimes I take notes, lol. You look fabulous and God blesses you with every God thing. Luv ya! A hello to your dear hubby.
The videos jyou provide are awesome. So informative. I started watching the thrift store sourcing videos and I have gravitated to ones like yours where I learn a lot of valuable information. I hope your sourcing videos will be more informative than the others I have seen. Looking forward to watching one. I am just getting started on eBay and trying to learn as much as possible. Thanks for asking this info available!
I use a similar system, although 10x smaller scale, lol. I label my totes and then poly-bag inside the tote and have that info in my ebay custom scu so I know exactly where it is. This is a great inventory process you have so many items! I also wrap all breakables with tissue paper or packing paper, depending on the item. I feel that the plastic of bubble wrap can stick to items depending on the temperature and wouldn't want that effecting the item.
WOW! You are so organized! Everything is clean and neat! Thank you for sharing and for your honesty! I love your videos, they are so informative and inspirational! 👍❤️🌹🌹🌹
First time here, you have an amazing set up and a lovely friendly manner which I enjoyed so have definately subscribed and looking forward to watching more of your videos. I am also 59 and I am a UK reseller, and we don't really have large basements in England. If you see me picking orders you can see it's size and many resellers here think I have a lot of space, but I have serious space envy now. Thank you for sharing, Sue x
Where do you purchase the clear bags/packaging you place your clothing items in. I've used Ziploc bags, however, I noticed your bags SOUND different and also look more professional to store & ship the clothing items in. I also noticed your shoe racks seem to fold accordion style when not in use. Where did you find those? I envy your basement! I moved here to SC from VA 15 years ago, and basements are non-existent here in the Lowcountry area….you are so fortunate to have great space to work out of!
Norma Short clear zip lock bags are from upaknship online, I found the shoe racks at a thrift store and the rolling racks are from Seville classics in California
Thanks so much for for this very detailed video, Karen. It has helped me to know that I won’t be able to do what I had hoped to do with eBay due to space constraints. I will have to use offer-up, f.b. Marketplace, etc. to accomplish my goal. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and know-how.
Use a box resizer to fill the void on your boxes. You will save A LOT of money. Also it can help get you to cubic pricing box sizes. Cubic can save you even more.
I have my merchandise in my basement as well, and it is the same size as yours, but no where close to the organization, you are amazing, I’m jealous 🤗🤗🤗.. I have to start being more organized, you have inspired me to do so, God bless you Karen🤗❤️
Thank you so much for this video. I see so many shopping/haul videos but hardly any of the whole process. I loved seeing your storage area and system. And the packing part is particularly helpful
This was fabulous. Im just so afraid to start on Ebay platform due to understanding the shipping charges. Im going to look up your daughters video and hopefully it will be as good of a tutorial as your video here! Thank you!
My business is nowhere this large but I had the same type of idea on what I NEED to do with my inventory because I am having it take over every room and I can't stand it so thanks for the video!
I so wish I had your space! I am currently trying to re-sell out of a one bedroom apartment, lol. Anyway thanks for sharing your process. I love how organized you are.
Please tell me how you are making this work. I'm super fortunate and have an extra bedroom for storage but even then I have resale stuff pouring out of other rooms.
Me too. I think I need to hunt down a shelf and a couple of plastic totes. I don't have too much. I think I sometimes underestimate how long it takes to sell stuff. Now I can see a year is not unusual. I launder all clothing so my spare room does not smell like a thrift store.
Fantastic informational video. Loved the basement layout with the rolling cart, bins, and shelving on wheels... currently doing this in my living space. If you get a chance, I'd love to know the dimensions of the shelving. I am guessing 60" wide x 18" deep x 72-86" high. I am working with 48" wide shelving now and it is extremely difficult to find 3 bins with lids that fit on one shelf as nicely as yours do in the video. Thanks for making this video. I loved it!!!
Thank you for sharing your storage and shipping methods. I always learn from you and your daughter. You both are mentoring me via RU-vid and Instagram. Thanks again!
Awesome!! I thought I had a lot of inventory and a great system...You're amazing!! One thing I was going to mention, do you have a box scoring tool? I learned all of my packing skills from working at a wholesale gift business. we used a box scorer to create the folds when we needed to cut the corners and make a box smaller. You don't have to have a scoring tool, but it does mae it easier when you need to fold the flaps. there are several types at different price points. just cut the corner seams to desired height and score the flaps t fold down. This would have worked great on the work boots. Just a thought. Thanks so much for sharing your business with us. Amazing!!!!!
Hi Karen thank you so much for letting us get a look at once again the way you store your product for resell.I subscribe to both you and your daughter,Mellissa again you both are a godsend.I hope that one day I can have the space you have and list, list list but until then I will continue to watch and learn from both of your channels, and grow as a reseller entrepreneur like you and Mellissa.Again thank you very much for your patient teaching in reselling.
Thank you SO MUCH...Having a business like yours has always intrigued me. You've answered many questions that I had. I LOVE your shelving system on your merchandise...to me, this way makes perfect sense. 🙂Thank you for sharing.
Hello Karen, and thank you so much for this! A bit off subject here... Your skin is so beautiful, I think you should do a video on your skin care. It will be a huge hit! :)
I have experienced the "accidental relisting" of items that had already sold on Ebay. That is frustrating, as it then dings my seller rating when I have to cancel the order. I have suspected this was a glitch on Ebay's part, so to hear you have experienced this same thing was helpful to hear.
I love your videos and your inventory. I appreciate how diversified you are - selling so many different things! You are definitely future goals! Thank you for sharing your reselling adventure.
i am very impressed . i love your organization..I been selling willy nilly . but at 57 need a second income once i retire..never thought of buying my home as part of serious business.
My number system for items is by date listed. So if I list it on August 30, 2019, the number is 0819-30. then I label bins 0819 (24-30) for example I know what day bin to look in. If it isnt there, I would look in a day before or after. I know your system works for you, just explaining how my number system works, they are not random numbers. And of course, that is for clothing only.
Omg, your system is absolutely FABULOUS. You're DEFINITELY on POINT! May i ask where did u get those shelves? That rolling system. It's PERFECT. I imagine that you had to set it up yourself, or with assistance..thanks for showing. Just would love to know where u got the shelves....
Im a GOODWILL lover! I go to Goodwill twice or three times a week. But i shop for myself not to resell. Tho i wish i would because i come across things that can bring me good profit but i have no idea on how to get started!! Im a homemaker and havent worked in years! But mostly i would sell brand clothing because thats what my Goodwill carries at a very low price versus items. I believe i can do this and make my own income and would feel that im contributing. Its a lot of work but I strongly believe i can become like you a very successful seller since it will be my full time job. As it is i ONLY shop at Goodwill they have the cheapest prices compare to other thrift stores. So this would be great to start my own business. I enjoyed learning on how to wrap packages and send them off! Thanks for sharing
My basement looks similar. Nice set up. I've sold on Ebay since the 1990s. Ebay isn't like it used to be. Used to make alot of money but for whatever reason very slow the past ten years . .
Lack of storage space keeps me from trying to sell too many hard goods. Shipping larger hard goods is very intimidating. I get excited about picking up more hard goods every time I watch your videos. You make it look easy. Please continue the shipping videos for hard goods. They are very helpful. Thanks!
I just found your channel yesterday, I appreciate your advice so much! This seems like a great way to organize your things! I think this is how I will organize my things when I get as big as you! Also wow! I'm shocked at your age, you look great!!!
Wow! Your home warehouse is what reseller dreams are made of. I think space/storage is one big issue that prevents some of us from scaling up. I have an extra bedroom where I keep everything and even then im crowded in there.Unfortunately,my house does not have a basement. I'm part time, so Im not going to go rent office or storage space somewhere and add to my costs. I have to know and accept what my place is given my living situation. I don't know how others with even less space do this. storing items takes up so much space. Anyway, really love how you have everything set up. Super impressive.
Thank you. Very informative. I am encouraged by your storing and packing methods. As a newbie, I have been unsure if I'm packaging items well enough. But it looks like I am doing OK. Thanks again! Your videos were recommended by my friend Sandy Mak, if you know her. She does well on Etsy.
