It's a shame you had to "fix" the original video. I'm sad that some people are so thin skinned and take things the wrong way, ways that im sure you didn't intend. Sadly you can't make everyone happy all the time but im glad you are still pushing forward. Keep up the great videos. I appreciate all you do with having so much going on with life and family while still finding time to make great videos for all of us.
Awwww sorry for you. Just know no matter what you do or say. Someone is going to find negative things to say. We love what your doing. Don’t change for anyone!!!
@@seedandsparrowhomestead That's good, I'm looking forward to what comes next. I have many questions but waiting for videos that are related to my questions. So you have that to look forward to 😂.
The downfall of making deeper shelves is things get forgotten. Things tend to go out of date because you can't see all that you have. That in kitchen pantry will work just fine, contain some of the things in bags and it looks like all things are visible and orderly. Work with what you have and besides that pantry is unique and has great character ❤
I think your pantry with the swinging shelve is genius! Deep shelves become a cluttered mess in no time and food goes there to die. You may lose a little storage in quantity, but for usefulness, it can’t be beat it seems.
Very inspiring tour. I used my leftover Cowboy Candy Brine and made/canned a Cowboy Candy BBQ sauce with it. I printed and saved that recipe and placed it in my “must can again” binder. It is so delicious!!!
To use up the canned carrots, try making cream of carrot soup with ginger and coconut milk. It's absolutely delicious and you'll use quite a bit per batch.
I really like your in-kitchen pantry cabinet. To be able to see the front and back of areas is so much better than just shelving where things get lost. Thanks for the tour!👍
I really love your creativity! Keep it up my friend! Success is what happens after you have survived all of your disappointments! Never give up, great things take care! It deserves all success around and I'm here for you!
@@jenniferbrown483 here’s our family’s favourite carrot cake recipe: 2 cups white sugar 12 oz approx of cooked mashed carrots 2 tsp cinnamon 4 unbeaten eggs 1 tsp salt 1 1/2 cups oil 2 tsp baking powder 2 tsp baking soda 2 tsp vanilla 3 cups flour Mix well, pour into a 9x13 ungreased pan; bake at 350 F for approx 1 hr. Icing 4 oz pkg cream cheese 1/2 cup butter Beat together until fluffy; then add 1/2 tsp vanilla and icing sugar until right consistency. Enjoy
I do the same thing. Waste not, want not! I also save every steak bone, chicken wing, drumstick bones, duck bones….when I get two gallon sized bags full I make a batch of bone broth.
Just an idea for your carrots. Make a Carrot Soufflé. It's kinda life a sweet potato casserole in a sense that the carrot part is kinda like it but you just dust the top with powder sugar. It would be a good way to use it up!!
Loved this tour! We finished our 3rd year of gardening/canning this year and somehow managed to grow 1,400lbs of food! We're doing the 3 Rivers pantry challenge this month and December. We've only spent $180 for this whole month including buying 2 turkeys to can. I'm surprised how much food is STILL in the house, so we may continue the challenge even after December!
I started watching shortly after you posted, and I had to pause for a bit. The video was gone when I came back. Playing this new one now and reading the comments. I don't know who said what, but you should have just left it. Don't let the bullies win! There are so many miserable people out there that are offended by anythjng. I have been watching for quite awhile now, and I'm 100% sure you did not say anything that was truly offensive.
I know I do too, I'm tossing up the ease of moving and seeing what I have and getting more space which I desperately need! Really I'm just praying for a bigger home lol.
My parents have a similar pantry. How much additional space will you get when you’re going to have to use products for ease of access. Hope you get your bigger home!
Oh, I love hearing that you made a soup that could be canned and was well received! It’s one of our favorite quick meals and I’m really hoping to find a recipe this winter that matches the store bought version that we love. I so enjoy pantry tours and seeing all the beautiful jars on the shelves. Well done Kelsey! Your efforts have paid off and you’ll be able to draw from the shelves and your other storage easily to put delicious food on the table for your family. Well done Kelsey! Have a wonderful weekend.
Such a wonderful pantry!! I've watched a few of your videos before and thought I was subscribed but I wasn't 😩 I AM now, though!! 😂 The kids making noise just made the video all that more enjoyable ❤️
I am a lot older and my reach isn’t what it used to be, I would have to have those jars on a lower shelf. I love the way you have things arranged. It feels very comphy and homey.i like your swing out shelves.
I love watching these other ladies for their canning, baking recipes from scratch, their spice mixes, and freezer recipes. If you're looking for some thing different try[ grow and preserve ],if you want to listen to two ladies that are so sweet and have experience then watch [little village homestead ],and [whippoorwill holler].This one lady she doesn't can or make meals fron scratch, but her recipes are great. All her food is store bought, but am sure with your know how you can convert the recipes into homemade recipes. Love watching your videos. It was so cute when your little one pop in trying to find out what you were doing down stairs.
I also don’t love canned carrots plain, but I like to mash them with cooked potatoes, add cheese and sour cream, add more cheese on top and bake until bubbly. It’s very tasty.
My Mom has the same pantry shelves. I love them. I wish I had them, digging back through everything to find the one item you need in the back is a pain in my deep pantry.
Hi, I just saw you video and I subscribed because it’s refreshing to see a small family being in the mindset of self preservation. Your food pantry is beautiful! I’m looking forward to seeing future videos, and learning about your recipes. Good job 😊!!
I love your pantries, especially all of those beautiful jars! It's great to discover what is a hit and what isn't so that you can either work at "fixing" it or eliminate it next year.
I don't even do canning much (my mother is aces at it, though), but I always enjoy seeing what you've made. Even contemplating a few of them like cowboy candy and mock pineapple. My mother also gives me a gazillion things fresh from her garden so I end up with a LOT of jalapenos and zucchini.
I make canned carrots but I always make a brown sugar/butter with SPG. I let that cook and thicken up and then I put the canned carrots in and let them get glazed. Super yummy. I don’t mess with them a lot because they are softer than store bought canned carrots or roasted ones. They are still yummy though.
I would love the links to the cookbooks you use for canning. I am just getting a pressure canner because I want to can chicken broth, spaghetti sauce, enchilada sauce and salsa sloppy joe sauce that I normally make and freeze. I looked at one but didn’t love it. Would love a video on what canning stuff you love and what you disliked and stopped using.
@@seedandsparrowhomestead I like them in tea mainly for my soul but they are used for respiratory infections, sore throat and as an expectorant when used internally and used for inflammation externally. They are slightly bitter on there own but you would need a lot of them to notice the bitterness. I like them used in tandem with other healing herbs. Every part of the sunflower has healing properties but the leaves are actually the rock stars when it comes to health benefits.
Love your tour I also can it’s just me but I’m afraid of what’s coming in this country so I am preparing I have three boys who are grown 33,35 and 37 so I have food put up for them. If something were to happen I live in North West Pennsylvania. I live in the apartment so I can’t have a garden, but I preserve lots of food.
I always love your videos! ❤️ Thank you for sharing your sweet spirit and God-given talents with us. We appreciate you, Kelsey! Looking forward to all the future videos.
I just found you a few weeks ago and knew there was a reason I liked you. I grew up near Shippensburg, PA went to Big Springs school district until middle school and we moved away. My Grandparents had a small farm literally in the middle of Amish country. I live in KC now but miss that PA soil and Amish country living.
A great jam I canned this year was cherry lime. It was a hit with everyone. I also dry canned apples so that I could use them in a variety of ways instead of just having applesauce or pie filling. I would love to have a pantry like yours ❤
Peel and core apples, slice or chunk them into at least 1/2 inch thick pieces. Place the apples in a lemon juice bath (3 tablespoons lemon juice per quart of water). Drain apples, pack in jars (pint or quart), press them down to fit as many as possible. Leave a 1/2 inch head space. Start with a cool water bath canner. You will need to place something heavy on top of the jars as they want to float (I used another canner rack and a large rock). Process 20 minutes and let pot cool completely (if possible, but I just let it cool for 5 minutes) before removing jars.
The blog, "A Beautiful Mess," has a recipe for carrot pesto. It does call for fresh carrots, but I don't see why you couldn't use canned since the sauce is meant to be creamy. It is super flavorful and great on a whole wheat/grain pasta. Loved the pantry tour! You will love baking with freshly milled einkorn. It is sooo delish.
I made bread and butter pickles for the first time this year. LOVE THEM! Taste delicious on hamburgers. An idea to use up your carrots. Many times, I can up mirepoix - carrots, onions and celery together. It's the base for many soups. You can use those carrots when you make a soup. As soon as you said spider I thought, time to get someone to kill it, unless it was a small one lol. It looks like you are well stocked. Such a blessing. I'm working on figuring out ways to use some of the things I haven't used a lot of. You have given me some ideas, so thank you.
You might could share canned carrots with ur bunny or chickens. Idk if safe or how you feel giving ur pantry items to pets. Maybe special holiday treats to try for them.
I just found your channel. Love it. I have canned for quite a few years and I love it. I just started pressure canning meat items a few years ago. I am interested in freeze drying veggies and fruit. Is there a book that I can purchase that you recommend? Thank you
U said u use your canned potatoes in mashed potatoes can u do a vedio showing making mashed potatoes out of canned potatoes ? I'm 71years old and cann ,this year I tried some soup and all so I canned some meat
Lovely pantry! A question about your Apple Pie filling - is it the ClearJel you don't love, or the flavor, or texture? About the peach spice: one thing you can do to prevent the spices from overpowering the contents is to only include them while heating up the syrup (say, in a spice ball or a cheesecloth bag/wrap), and making sure they don't end up in the jar. Some spices, especially cloves, allspice, cinnamon, bay, do get bitter over time. Also, never apologize for your kids - they are the reason for anyone doing anything - the next generation is what we are all depending upon.
the victorian is in the description here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ekp9GIh3K68.html The peach is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3RpyTwDoAJ0.html
The spiced peaches... idk if you did this, but i suggest warming up the mixture and ketting the cloves soak into the liquid with the pot lidded but not with heat on continually. Then, before you pack the cans, remove most or all the cloves. It shouldnt be quite as strong or bitter.
Awesome job!! Also, I have a quick question regarding your copper measuring cups; Would you be so kind as to share where they can be purchased, please?
Your pantry is Beautiful! Good job. I’ve been canning and preserving food for 50 years. You’re doing great starting early in life. I’ve been powdering smoked paprika peppers for hours today! Love my freeze dryer especially for powdered eggs, milk and mushrooms. I hope you’re not canning with homemade vinegar? It should be 5% acidity. Unless you are testing the PH, please be safe. 😊
Living tradition homestead she made some home made ketchup that she thinks she got it real close to store bought ketchup. You might want to take a look at it's ingredients and see if it's a winner or not.
I’m loving your pantry tour! But please don’t ever apologize for the kidling noises! That’s the precious sounds of happy kids. It’s not heard nearly enough these days. Gone are the days when mothers yelled out the door into the neighborhood for their kids to get their butt home for supper, bed or that appointment they don’t want to go to. I love the sound of children trying their best to behave during church but just missing that mark…or not trying and totally missing the mark and one of the parents taking them out for a talking. Or the babies doing the hungry crying and the momma taking them out for their feeding. Such precious days are gone in a flash. Thank you so much for the moments you allow us to share with your little ones. They are God’s miracles and you have been chosen to be their mom. God’s blessings to you.
Aw thank you! Most people love it and I appreciate that, I mainly put that on the screen for new folks so they know what all the racket is 😂 Blessings ❤️
I hope you are aware of this: "Kamut is a type of wheat, and is not gluten free. In fact, research suggests that ancient grains like kamut are actually higher in gluten protein than traditional wheat. In addition, research suggests that Kamut is inflammatory to the digestive system. If you are gluten sensitive or celiac, you should not eat Kamut."
Yep! I bought all this stuff before I had to go gluten free, I’ll still use it for my family and one day I’ll try adding some ancient grains back into my diet. I’m not celiac just seriously inflamed, so I did away with all inflammatory foods for a good while ☺️
The trolls must still be sleeping under their rocks...prepping to hard? Corporate food is not real food and folks are starting to figure it out. Most preppers are not mentally stable, obviously. Fear makes you do stupid things...like hoarding. 😁 Thank you for what you do! 🍃
