Why on earth 🌍 are property developers getting away with building on flood plains ? It's absolutely sickening that billions of pounds are made from crooked Local Authorities yet one can't get Planning Permission to build a small annex on one's own land for elderly relatives .
people have been building on rivers for centuries, Flooding on the Severn, for example, dates back to the 1400s. Flooding is not a new phenomenon. People living alongside a river should accept that they will eventually suffer from the floods at some point.
This is exactly the problem buying land/property on flood planes, I always wondered why no-one has invented or created sealed doors and windows for people who live on flood planes so they can protect their own property save the tax payer millions in river long flood defences.
Cause it's never happen prior to 3 years ago now feel for them all not able to get home insurance though! There was a big thing about it think last year when happened a second time there insurance's wouldn't pay out or something!
It's sad to see people losing in some cases everything they own why do we still build on natural flood plains in valleys and coastal areas when we don't have the drainage systems to cope with what is weather events that happen all around the world not just in the UK
shame the government don't insist on infrastructure to cope with rain and bad weather, it's possible to build infrastructure to cope with extreme weather, shame people don't care enough about this. Peoples priorities change. The cost to build it to cope with extreme weather is very little different from the cost to build it and not cope. If politicians don't care and people don't care this is how things end up. The public are happy to get a government that do not provide a decent standard of quality of life.
All houses for the future .. rsj frame around the outer house a build platform on top next level up move upstairs down and down up....so even if the floods stay folk can stay safe above cheap to build just iron beams built around for future flooding ice melting seas riseing things need to be built...good look yall xxx

And that always brings flooding due to the fact many areas of Cornwall have a granite bedrock... then coupled with winter storms that also flood coastal areas from the sea, along with many other coastal regions around Britain I might add. It's just that the media and indeed often government themselves tend to focus mainly on the shires and cities when reporting major weather events lol... hence my comment. The rest of us get it often but it isn't news worthy unless it affects the above! 😂😂

likely less news on covid as the last thing the government want is people getting worried about covid and wanting to stay at home and/or not work when they want to reopen the country and try to get it back to normal.
