Just got this ball drilled. drilled with pin right above finger...for length and backend....OMG!!! this ball is a beast...I have more boards than I did with my taboo or original siege. And it comes back from ANYWHERE. I am a low rev, med speed player that tracks high...if is this is an indication of storm balls I am a customer for life
@loplopbunny Maintenance is the key to any bowling ball, especially high performance bowling balls that are designed to absorb a lot of oil. The key to a ball hooking is that it absorbs oil fast. You will not find a large hooking ball that doesn't absorb oil. So cleaning the ball and removing the oil is key to keeping the ball hooking. The easiest, and safest way for a consumer to remove oil is the warm water bath. The Ebonite Hook Again system works ok, but Water is a lot cheaper.
@mc1271 Get a bucket that your bowling ball will fit into, fill it with hot tap water in your bath tub (Don't not BOIL the water.). Put the bowling ball in the bucket, and let it sit for 10-15 mins. Keep going this until there is no more oil coming out of the ball during the soaking process.
Chris, How many feet or so would you say your ball goes befor touching the lane? I think I've been running into an issue of all my equipment really wanting to check early as of late. I think it's because not so much low volume I bowl on, but I've been laying the ball down very early due to a bad back.
@xuan8839 the ball will shine itself due to use but the underlying grip will stay the same, if its a big concern make sure to clean the ball after every 3-4 games to prolong the OOB finish.
@yugiDaD411 Bowling ball cleaner will help get the surface oil out of a bowling ball. It will help extend the life of the ball. Use a microfiber towel to clean the oil off between shots, will also help.
buddies, have you ever heard of any new balls coming out in the virtual line? maybe an extend to the virtual energy? i dont expect anything soon knowing the recent release of the virtual gravity nano. i am a fan of storm overall (including roto grip) and wanted to get the theory but a few days before i was going to buy it the nano came out. i dont want to be too hasty this time. thanks
@BuddiesProShopcom hmmm....just gotten mine drilled today with the aggressive and forgiving pattern...now that is a hooking monster. ..one thing i dislike is how gd this ball is at absorbing the oil...guess i might have to do some work to force out the oil from the surface pretty early on this ball than others...any tips for deep cleaning?..i ve heard many version..some say soaked in water...my pro shop staff told me to just put it under direct sunlight....really confused...
@MrPASSDAMAYO That is 100000000% false. The Nano additive is designed to give the ball longer life, and the ball will keep texture longer than other coverstocks.
@MrPASSDAMAYO To be honest - There really aren't any balls that live longer than 30 games without constant upkeep. Using a rejuvinator and resurfacing will get a hundred or so games out of a ball, but most high-end equipment is good for about 30 before you stat noticing significant changes.
i have heard from a pro, that this ball is going to die within 30 games. it is going to do so because when storm ran a test run on very heavy oil, within 12 shots, there was not a drop of oil left on some of the boards it hit. it is designed for a 170 bowler to get 2-3 more strikes a game, averaging 6 and a half strikes per game, so it wont leave as many spares. but for a bowler with no hand in the ball, it will die faster than a regular ball.
