I think one of the most interesting things is this race doesn't have a supply depot. Notice it says 0/300 right at the start. Crazy. I think there is some energy maintenance that replace the effort of making depots/pylons/overlords or whatever equivalent this game has for the other two races.

The difference is, I am defending the expression of opinion from OP and in general, while you are trying to take away the opinion of his by patronizing him ("oh sweet child" "good luck finding"). Not tolerating intolerance is not the same as being intolerant in the first place.
There have been several prominant RTS that have units which deal more damage the closer they are. Off the top of my head, almost everything in Company of Heroes 1/2/3 (technically accuracy), Peacekeepers in Red Alert 3, Shotgun scouts and suppression weapons in Dawn of War 2. There's probably way more. Artosis has very strong opinions about RTS but I get the feeling he has only really played Blizzard RTS and Age of Empires.
I will withhold my judgement on this game until they have all the final models and units in, but one thing I can say is that they showed it way too early.
I agree. In theory it sounds great to bring in feedback early. In practice you don‘t have the time to incorporate all the feedback and most importantly: mobs of people are stupid. There is nothing to gain from a mob but superficial comments and at worst negative press.
If they don't plan to rethink the visuals from the scratch they can't save this game from bombing. They need to have a talk with art director/concept artists. But these are full 3d models and not place holders so I don't think it's gonna happen (because it's gonna be a huge pain in the ass)
@@f1shze4lot I think the simple, cartoony maps influence the look some people aren't liking a lot more than the units. They should get a map editor in the hands of the community asap to see if people can make maps with different lighting, tile sets, and more detail that people might like better.
Those flying buildings that can produce seem to have super high cheese potential! It will be hard to balance this race since they seem to rely on crazy spells and gimmicks
This game literally feels like they threw all unit abilities and units from SC and WC into a giant hat and just started pulling out stuff to create new units. "ok, so we got a protoss observer with huntress ability from WC3 and Oracle revelation, fancy that."
Screw the abilities, the entire interface is copied too. The top bar with abilities is such an obvious copy of SC2 LoV/coop ability bar. The entire supply system and resources. Even the map is basically Twisted Meadows from Wc3
@@marcinluter1195 Bro, no, those guys didn't design SC2. A lot of them worked at Blizzard, and on the SC2 team at the end, but the people that designed the game are not at Frost Giant. Sigity, Pardo, Metzen, Kim, etc are the ones behind Wings of Liberty. The Frost Giant guys are skilled and have a lot of great work in the past, but lets please give credit where it is due.

Looks like one of those games theyd make up for an episode of Law and Order SVU. Ice T comes on and is like "Turns out all the students behind these mass r*ping sprees have been huge fans of this game, SpaceCraft" "Back in my day we just had Super Maario."
Imo it's the most unique faction in this game. I see here most new and fresh ideas. So the Stormgate has three factions: Terran, Zerg/Protoss mix and a new one. I wish there were three new factions but at least this one is something new.
yea this game is honestly starting to shape up, i'm excited to play casual team games with friends and maybe try the 1v1 mode if they can balance everything correctly

Its just people that are tired of Starcraft, really. They would literally play any trash game including a game made in MSPaint if it meant they would relive the glory days of SC2 or BroodWar. They just crave another eSports phenomenon and this is why this game is gonna flop. Because it has nothing else going for it.
The question that is most interesting to me is: what happens when you lose your flying main building thing (Arcstation)? Is it rebuildable or do you have to go on with what you have?
other than archon, broodlord, and collosus doesnt every other starcraft 2 unit have an ability. zerg can burrow and morph, terran has stim and mech transformations, protoss most have one small ability or are full spellcasters
I agree all these guys are dumb to whine about "too many abilities", but its pretty intellectually dishonest to say "pretty much every zerg unit has an ability, they can transform and burrow" or mech transformations.
If there weren't any abilities ''LOL THIS UNIT IS SO BORING NICE A CLICK GAME'' if there are abilities ''WHY DOES EVERY UNIT HAVE ABILITIES'' They don't want to play Stormgate, they don't want anyone to play it and just randomly hate on shit. I hope the devs ignore them. Focus on making the game fun for the people that want to play it.
IDK if anyone has played the strategy game, Earth 2150, but the Celestials remind me of the Lunar Corporation faction from that game which was an incredibly unique faction in RTS games (it had no builder unit).

They really need to work on the art style and graphics of this game. There's honestly no excuse from ex-Blizzard devs to make a game that has graphics that look like a cheap asset flip from a mobile game, considering that Zerospace has a smaller budget and looks a Hell of a lot better, visually.
The graphics are final they have not set the shaders yet and anyone that's watched or played minecraft with a shader pack know how much of a difference that can make, but that will most likely only be done once they have all the character models are completed and in game. Most of the maps are just basic designs to serve their function. Alot of the people complaining about the maps being bare or looking bad didn't play sc2 WoL launch as the maps back them were crap before a lot of work went into them by a dedicated team at blizzard (for the reason of them being crap) and also the community to add texture and personality to the maps, stuff like reaper jumps, towers for overlords to chill on, and narrow openings at mains and natural bases(for protoss to wall cheaply) were standardized so I think we will see the same happen here once the community gets its hands on the map editor.
I thought it would be angels since we had demons and humans already, but I was wondering whether it would be tech angels or fantasy angels and it turns out tech.
@@zygonovism WoL alpha looked "different" than the final product but the core of what the people liked about SC2 graphics was there. The unit looked cool and the engine, while not fully utilized, was showing off some of the stuff that it could do. Here, there's just nothing I enjoy personally. I guess it's made with the mobile market in mind.
@@zygonovism Most of these people criticizing and memeing are kids that have never seen an actual alpha build of a game. I don't completely blame them because companies started pushing out beta ready builds as alphas for the sake of marketing 10-15 years ago, but it's still cringey if you know.
I was really hoping there would be 4 or more races total. Everything about frost giant's Celestrial reveal makes it look like this is the last race, which just makes it look like a SC2 knockoff

22:15 AFAIK Total Annihilation had the laser weapon type that has range damage fall-off, on many units in 1997, a year before StarCraft released this mechanic carried through to SupCom and Beyond All Reason, a game you should probably go play at some point to become qualified to discuss RTS games 😈
This game look like soulless starcraft with GFX from 2005..I expected a lot from this game and turn out to be a joke..Also i cant tell what are building and what are units for 3rd race is just to hard to differentiate.. As for gameplay for next gen RTS its insane that they are pushing basically most annoying part of SC2 free units and canon rushes (race that is base on building movement) bad design. This game is DOR.
I can see that. The triangles are a throback to the very first Nintendo 64 use of 3D, where they would show raw triangles as shapes for wings, or a few pasted together for sqaures etc. They would look separated , as if the triangles were bonded together by a force field , and not a whole object. Very late 90's graphics vibes from this new race.
More Warcraft 3 level graphics IMO. Lots of annoying mechanics though for sure. The new angel protoss race has some super OP stuff, gonna get nerfed hard.

@@TheMKSeriOus Starcraft and Warcraft are considered the GOAT RTS games for a reason. Any RTS that doesn't replicate them in some shape or form is shooting itself in the foot. SC2 in particular has, bar none, the best UI in the RTS space. These games absolutely should be studied to understand why they work, and I'm really glad they're imitating solid, proven design. Could they stand to be more original? Yeah, sure. But would this game appeal to dedicated RTS players if it didn't in some way resemble Warcraft III or Starcraft 1/2? Probably not. You'd probably see inverted comments of people asking or complaining why it isn't more like Starcraft or Warcraft when the devs are ex-blizzard.

These are the guys that ruined Starcraft by making no-fun units like the Mothership core, the swarm hosts and the disruptors. I used to believe in this game and I was on the hype train. Now the more I see it develop I couldn't care less about playing this game.
I found my favorite race. Up till now the other races seemed kinda boring to me, but these guys are cool. Them having an ability for just about everything is a good thing that separates them from the other factions. Morons complaining about it in the Twitch chat don't understand how immersive and interesting that makers the faction. And even though Arty has graphics set to "low", the game looks okay. Universe at War had a similar way of making the factions different, and I always appreciate that. God, I miss that game...
Man these comments are something else, either mad cope or mad hate. Im pretty unconvinced about this game so far myself, but Im sticking with the wait and see approach. Hoping for the best but I wont be surprised or disappointed if it fails. My general critiques so far is that it does look very generic and soulless. Units move rather slow over all, and even fairly small battles are messy and hard to follow, but I feel that way when I watch wc3 too because Im not that familiar with wc3 either so that might change once you familiarize yourself to everything. What I like about sc2 is that even when the battles are insane, you have a feel for whos winning. Healthbars are easy to see, and once you get a hang of power levels of units, you can tell fairly quickly which side has the advantage. When I watch battles in stormgate, I have no idea whos winning. Healthbars are small and weirdly colored, units are damage sponges almost like in wc3 and there are so many things strange animations going on. Like the rolling zealots here, they roll in do splash damage, then start blinking and explodes. The "marine stalkers" that have bright blue fairly slow moving projectiles at first, and then slightly less bright orange projectiles. The infernal siege unit that has a massive and bright orange wind up animation and then has range like a siege tank, while also having white health at first, and then very hard follow solid red/blue healthbars. I think this needs the classic green->yellow->red HP bars, especially since units here are fairly tanky compared to sc2.
I'm losing hope this games ever going to look good. I mean god the saturation alone is like x3 higher than League of legends. you'd think a game with Demons and angels would be... I dunno at least a little gritty. Also this race looks like it's going to be horrible to balance... oh like Protoss.
This game legit looks like something 5 Dudes hacked together during a weekend game jam. I am not saying the gameplay is bad since I haven't played it, but its so rare that a game turns me off immediately just from looking at it. I am not a graphics guy either. It's wild how unpleasant this is to look at and listen to.
I don't see it, but Im also a reasonable human who knows it "being released" in beta for testing and a full "Realease" aren't the same thing, maybe temper your expectations like a normal human being instead of being caught up in the sheep baaaahing about something petty.
Maybe this game will have great mechanics and balance but the art direction is so unbelievably bland, I always thought this isn't that important if gameplay is solid but damn

Honestly not impressed by the roster... We have basically Terran - which I think I like the most; basically Zerg, but Demon; basically Protoss, but called celestials (not in art). For this army the abilities are kinda meh... Cabal mastery training being literally Banshee's Possession from WC3, which is also mastery training in WC3... I withhold strong opinions on the graphics - very early, but it looks clayish, I hope that doesn't stay like that. Overall Vanguard look like my guys so far, disappointed in the third race overall... Infernals for being demons have no models that feel badass, many other games have a better looking demon race... Celestials are kinda geometry shapes in the sky or whatever... meh Vulcan is bae

Why take a risk when you can just make the 50th call of duty game, or nba 2025, or a mobile game. This is kind of like a fusion of the big three of blizzard. I'm seeing the mechanics of Warcraft, the units of Starcraft, and the theming of Diablo. I think if they can deliver a good story then this would be a good start to a good series, and hopefully a second game with better better looks.
Pretty interesting race but the sounds that some of the units make drive me crazy (Kri and Vector specifically). I hope they will change it before the release. It's super annoying and only marginally better than hearing chalk scratching on a blackboard..
compared them to protoss, when the only thing you have in common is technology.... they have mobilities, when protoss is like playing chess, playing some rook, was too slow, to strategical. This isn't protoss, you play on mobility.
Complicated units with 100 abilities are TEDIOUS. It's like they never made SC1... where is the appreciation for simple but badass units like the hydralisk, the dragoon, the zergling. I can't believe I have no interest in this product whatsoever given that I am 100% the target audience.
hydras only good when it has the complex spell caster the defilier behind it, the dragoons just bad because it can't get past stairs or most the map, zerglings have always been too powerful and theirs 8 million takes on zerglings in RTS, even in this very game from what I've seen. You have no interest because you're done with RTS, move on mindlessly shitting on this game isn't going to give you what you want.
@@JerryS-zb2lf Hydralisk being a simple unit is what made the Defilers stand out as casters, having no ability helps the players (especially the casuals) shift their focus on controlling the more impactful caster unit. Dragoons' pathing issue and Zergling's balancing are not related to them having an unique ability or not.
While the gameplay mechanics are top notch, the presentation makes this look like a f2p mobile game. And what is up with sims crystal at the top centre?

I kinda feel bad for stormgate. There was not a single good thing said in the chat. I mean, it's not the greatest thing I've ever seen, but what? Were they expecting the second coming of Christ? They can't even articulate what it is they're complaining about outside 'gaem look bad'. My guy, the game is being made by a bunch of washed up devs, pocket change, and a dream. Things could be SO much worse. I think the fact it's even playable is miraculous, to say the least.
To be really honest, it's painful to look at. Everything feels washed out, the map looks half-done, the units and the UI looks off. It's like I'm looking a cheap WoW clone that's made to an RTS.
And it'll do gang busters because its free and those "graphics" you hate are valorant and OW as fuck, kids love that shit. I do too mainly because Im not a cynical chud.

@@Ravengagepvl Someone had to see and approve these designs from concept artists so modelers could do them in 3d. It would be pointless to make such complex placeholders. So it's almost 90% how the game is going to look like (I'm not talking about blue models btw)
Gameplay looked good at least for the other 2 races. unfortunately the artstyle looks like it's aimed at 5 year olds or something... and yeah animations and such are mostly horrible for something releasing in august.
