@johnnytdufc

depended where they were shooting and the stunt. Where he was defying death and filming in the U.S. - wires were generally used, although in the 90's they'd already mastered removing the wires from the shot with film. If they didn't use "safety" equipment, they didn't get underwriting for their insurance. I imagine the same may have been true in many European Countries where he shot and Australia. But Jackie defied death frequently in many of his films. But he's not totally deranged.

@@johnnytdufc That's why he says in Jackie's older films. In Hong Kong, they did not have the same health insurance as American Hollywood. If I recall correctly, Jackie had to make his own insurance company in the USA to fund his stunts. edit: from an article: "No insurance company will underwrite Chan's productions, in which he performs all his own stunts. After a number of stuntmen were injured during the making of Police Story, the star formed the Jackie Chan Stuntmen Association, training the stuntmen personally and paying for their medical bills out of his own pocket."
@jackiestunt
@jackiestunt 3 года назад
As some of the others already mentioned, Jackie didn't use wires for his jumps or Parkour stuff in his movies from the 1970s to like 1996 when he went to America. There weren't many or no safety measures in the old Hong Kong days ("if you've got the guts, you do it" or "rolling, action, jump, cut, hospital"). That's one reason no one wanted to insure him. The whole stunt team used wires in fight scenes though when they wanted to amplify the impact of a punch or kick. It wasn't Wire-Fu like in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or like Jet Li did sometimes, it was just to spice up an otherwise grounded fight.

Tracers is actually pretty good and accurate. Storror just took a few scenes out of context or rather snippets of scenes. There are some very good chase and parkour scenes in it. Taylor Lautner's character learns parkour in this film as well so the awkward scenes are him training like for the first time. It's at least 7 out of 10. The crime and bloodshed was unnecessary in that movie. The parkour was legit.

Here's a video idea: Parkour relay (without batons of course). You could go into 2 teams in a few spots (one could even be water challenges). There'll be an element of strategy where the teams will have to work out which member is better suited at a challenge to complete the relay the fastest. PS: I think Drew arrived last

Storror should make videos where they teach parkour basics & skills etc… I think loads of people would enjoy watching that and would also want to try parkour themselves

Not purely related and not a film but to this day, one "documentary" that still blow my mind every time I watch it, is this old interview from a French tv channel of David Belle and Sebastien Foucan, The confidence and the power they had was crazy at that time. At 2:40 Foucan jump so easily what's look like a 2+m barrier. and Belle take massive drops like it's nothing the whole video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RNDiItLsruw.html

District 13, the jump to the wire was done in a blue key studio, so maybe the slide down the double tubes was also done in the blue key studio.

Jackie mostly don't use the wire, but if he does in any action sequence then the stunt must be very deadly. I mean hell ass deadly.

I don't know why someone would say what Jackie Chan does is fake. Any of it. They are real stunts. He wasn't trying to do "Parkour" but what he did was essentially what Parkour was made to do.

Everyone shoots tracers down, but I wanna give it props for two things: one is that it made me, as a person who had no idea the Parkour community even existed (sure there were ppl out there who could do some cool stuff, but who knew there was like a global community??), aware that Parkour was a thing with a community etc. The second was that it clearly showed that there was a line of progression involved, which made it accessible to average people. At the time if you weren't aware of the culture or the ethos, all you saw were a few mad men doing crazy stunts on social media which gave the impression that only a few stuntmen type people did this stuff. You had to be some physical elitist to train it on any level. Because it was a Hollywood movie with a popular actor it cast Parkour into a light that I don't think the average person knew about till then. It helped to take Parkour to the mainstream. I had just started researching Parkour at the time and that movie gave me a lightbulb moment: ohhhh, this is like a thing people learn and get better at. It starts with accessible movement that regular people can try. It's like most sporty activities where training leads to improvement! Ding ding ding! 💡💡💡. So yeah maybe the Parkour in it is no where near the great level that can be produced (and is often stuffed up by the directors who don't understand the sport, let's face it), but it did contribute to the discipline in a way that few other movies ever have. Most people seek out the older Parkour movies like district 13 only after seeing tracers and getting hooked on it. So there's that, but yeah I'm not gonna say u guys should watch it. He he

On the note of Jason Bourne, the Camera operator was the real hero in those shots. The stunt performer did the real gap - impressive - but the cameraman intentionally had to miss the gap dropping down the alley on a wire. The coordination and balls on that one..

absolutely can't stand the choppy editing in fight and chase scenes that started in the mid 2000s. Gives me headaches and I have no idea what the heck is going on. Couldn't agree more.
