[Story 113] TOMATOES - Making tomato sauce, ketchup and jam from scratch!

The tomatoes are now ripe. I harvested a lot and made my own tomato sauce, ketchup and jam. I used the tomato sauce for my spaghetti. There are tons of ways to cook tomato. Which one is your favorite?

I was watching the part when Ben and his family were talking while eating spaghetti. They were speaking in Ilocano. One of our dogs suddenly raised his ears and went closer to my laptop, trying to check where the sound is coming from. My late father is Ilocano and when he was still alive, he would talk to this dog in Ilocano. I feel like crying now.

I start planting this Italian tomato San Marsano and make tomatoe sauce.. .this is what the italians grow and make tomato sauce….this has thick flesh and less seeds and easy to peel….i boil the tomatoes with not to much water for a few minutes that way it is easy to peel…..then remove the seeds…after i saute garlic and onions and cook untill tender…then i blend until smooth…put in clear glass bottles and pasteurize so it will stay longer Or if not put in ziplock bags and keep in the freezer…it stays for several months.

I've been watching your videos for the past 2 weeks and it has been heartwarming and inspiring to see a young man like you living the country life in the Philippines. I am a third generation Filipino living in Hawaii. My paternal grandparents are Pangasinan and my maternal grandfather is from Ilocos Sur. My maternal grandmother was born on Sulu Island but is of Tagalog descent. While I do not speak any of the dialects, they all sound familiar to me as I remember the old folks and elders speaking in Ilocano or Visayan. They are the 2 main dialects in Hawaii. I enjoy watching you prepare and cook meals for your family; - you're a very good chef. I prepare Filipino foods myself and some of your dishes have a different recipe to what I'm familiar with; - I wanna' try some of your versions of pinakbet. Again, thank you for sharing your life with us and I'm extending the very best to you in all future endeavors. 🙂😊🥰

Alam po nila gumawa nyan. Kaso lang e isipin din natin na hindi rin naman ganon kadali ang mag-mass produce ng ganyan dahil unang-una, magdadagdag sila ng cost sa paglalagyan ng tomato sauce/paste/jam. Ikalawa, maramihang gawa yan na kinakailangan ng either makinarya at/o tauhan. Panghuli, ima-market po yan. Kung wala namang bibili ng bulto, masisira lang din at mas malaki ang mawawala sa mga magsasaka.

WOW tomatoes in the vine are of highest quality and alway demand highest price in the supermarket. Ketchup and sauce I’m aware of, but making jam is something new to me, I’m sure they’re nutritious and tasty😋😍
