👽Want to explore the ending of a game where a father confronts aliens to save his children?: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j6PfKPnkoDg.html
I enjoyed the game. I ultimately chose to keep my memories, since Caro village keeps their memories, I like to think Estelle went back and met with her mom again. Her mom sacrificed and lost a lot.
I actually didn't think about how keeping their memories is a tradition of the village. That's a very good point. And I agree her mother has lost so much and being able to have her daughter to remember her and return home to her would be a wonderful thing.
I regret sacrificing my pendant. Although that is what I would do. But i don't think it's what Estelle would do. I would want to risk things to save people, because although full of pain I think all memories are truly precious. And as people who have lost so much, they deserve to take their memories with them into their new lives. It shaped them and helped them. Although it hurt that it is implied that it didn't work, I would still try to save them, and rely on them, my family and my journal to remind me of what I have lost. But I feel like the actual character wouldn't. She wouldn't do that to her mother, who risked so much and only had one request for her completely leaving. The ignorance is bliss argument hold potentially true for the collages, but potentially Estelle can then carry them, and their stories into the future. So they live and exist after they're dead. I also think this is what you're" supposed" to choose But overall a really wonderful game.
I honestly didn't expect different species of intelligent beings to exist in the game other than humans. So when i saw that goblin guy I was freaking out because I chose to share the pendant and thought that the goblin would be a hallucination from Estelle being pendantless and exposed to the material or flowers and getting some psychological sickness.
Yeah, that guy was a curveball at the end! However, when I played a second time (I had to play through the whole game to get the alternate ending) they actually showed us the people in an Azen postcard and that Azen guidebook we could have taken. But the first time I played I thought they were cartoon characters and didn't realize they were actually another species!
I played the game but had so many questions after finishing it. your analysis really helped in collecting and simplifying the whole story and the lore. I now can say I understand the plot. thank you!
Just finished it and it was good and short. I chose to remember... I think memories are all we have, whether good or bad. Its how we grow and evolve, otherwise you risk of making the same mistake.
I think it is suggested that the memory erasing doesn't actually bring peace. I believe it was the Elder who says that when the war came old grudges that they didn't even know existed came up. Also thru the game there are lines that suggest the "echoes" or pattern of forgetting and reliving keep happening?
From my understanding, sometimes the forgetting is partial and sometimes it affects more of the world. For instance the soldiers were affected by the prayer, but those in the temple were not. Also, the Grey hands rounded up all of the people by telling them that they were going to release the dam (and honestly, that part was also likely true) but it was also a way to get them all in one place so that the prayer would affect all of them. It is also mentioned that those living in higher places (likely away from sources of water) were not as affected as those living in lower ground. So, in regards to peace, it doesn't necessarily bring peace if those who remember continue to bring forth the issues from the past...especially if they are the ones who control it.
Such a surreal game. We need a sequel where she reaches the library. And who’s that boy at the end. Is he her son? So many questions What was hidden in the well outside the void’s area
I completely agree that a sequel where we follow her to the library would be wonderful! I feel like the boy at the end is her son or grandson maybe? The world looked futuristic. I also want to know what happened with everyone after the season changed! So many questions!!
@@theindiejurneeher son is an interesting idea. Esp cause her mom mentions a possible future where she has a son and the son comes to visit his grandma out of curiosity
@@theindiejurnee I wrote this game and I tried to nod to the work of writers like you when the Elder says that the protagonist might not understand everything right away but "others to come will someday take the time to make sense of it all." It's fun to think of the text as being a collaboration like that, so thank you so much for this video!
Wonderful and beautifully broken down video! Was so lovely to re-live this magical game though your analysis. One of my favourite moments in the game is Pate's dream, such a touching moment. You earned yourself a new subscriber! Keep up the great work! 👌😊
This is high praise! I'm definitely a fan of your content and it's such a compliment knowing you enjoyed this so much! I look forward to chatting with you more (on both channels) about such great games!
Literally every indie game has a relatively shit ending. Firewatch, this, etc. You just have to come to expect that at this point, it's more about the journey than destination. Although they definitely tease you with the museum at the edge of the world nonsense. I'm sure that will be in game 2 if we ever make it that far. :(
