Trail cam footage from a wetlands area under an active wood duck nest box. Taken in the Spring of 2022 in Richland County, South Carolina, where wood ducks (Aix sponsa) are native, and nest in both man-made and natural hollows, usually near a wetlands. Normally about a dozen eggs are laid and incubated for 30 days. After a day or so of hatching out, all the fledglings leave the nest and stay together with the hen for several weeks.
