‣ COMMENT OR PM ME WITH QUESTIONS FOR A Q&A.
‣ Here's the second part on what happened after I've told my family I wanted to go into rematch. I'm sorry there's a loooot of cuts - the orginal video was over an hour long so it took me forever to edit.
‣ You guys are the best!! Thank you once again for all the love and support and comments. Wish you all the best. XO

I'm sorry that you went through this. I hate the bad apple host families because they give the program a bad name. My advice for other au pairs is to ask lots of questions and if possible talk to their current au pair. Make sure it feels right!

That's awful :-( I'm just sad for those who are too afraid to speak up. Awesome that you did though!

I know, so many girls get toyed around and abused in different ways of families all over the world, such a shame. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment ♥

Honestly it sounds like the mum was a little attimidated (bad speller) by the fathet. He sounds like a dominator honestly i feel bad for his wife and kids

I get what you're saying anyways and I do agree, even if it wasn't anything I was reflecting over during my time there, there was obviously things that were impacting the children badly.. And I did personally totally feel that way about the father. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment! ♡

hey Ellen! I loved your video! I'm from Peru (South America) and I'm planning to go to the U.S. as an au pair and I'm so scared about meeting the same family you were with! so once I have the name of the family I'm gonna ask you! hahaha

My story is so similar to yours. I have been back home less than a year now and I'm still not over what happened. I also went into rematch after my first family. Things with the second family didn't go well at all and it was Cultural Care who decided my living conditions with the second family was unsafe. After the second family I had had enough and decided to come home. The only time I could breathe easy in those 8 months I was in the States was when I was on the flight from JFK back to South Africa. Thankfully the second family was walked off the program by cultural care and well for the first family I was their 4th au pair in 2 years.

Sounds like the mum was being intimidated and handled by her husband.

I love your tips. This is what I say for the girls. "It must be a great experience, don`t let a crazy family destroy it". BTW, great video, I am happy that you got a better family

Hej Ellen! Massa styrke kramar!:)

Wow. your story is crazy. So happy for you that you found a better family though! Sounds like you also had an amazing LCC! I got back from the US a month ago as I didn't get another family through rematch. My LCC wasn't too great either, she was good friends with my host mom which didn't work well for me
@THATSSOELLEN
@THATSSOELLEN 8 лет назад
Thank you dear ♥ Yeah, I've heard several stories about crazy LCC's as well - I was blessed enough to have an amazing one, we still keep in contact. I'm sad to hear that, especially if your intention was to stay longer.. How long did you stay there?! Omg that's a bummer, always makes the situation awkward..

I can remember this though time you've been going through, like it was yesterday. And we all felt sad for you, because you were going to leave us scarsdale girls, But same time happy that you finally got the chance to leave this shitty hostfamily and start over again in a mich better hostfam. Greeting and tons of hugs to Sweden!😘🍀

Sorry your experience was so awful, I can't imagine living through that, but I also feel bad for the mother and children cause the father sounds very closed off and like he gets some sort of sick pleasure from controlling ppl and being very dominant. Glad that you were able to find a better family and thankfully you were able to leave as soon as you were and not the two weeks later. Good story and advice
@THATSSOELLEN
@THATSSOELLEN 7 лет назад
I totally agree with you, I do feel sorry for the rest of the family who I really think I would be able to finish the year with, the father was definitely the issue in all of this. Thank you for your nice words, I'm really blessed who found such a great family later on. ♥

so an au pair is like a foreign nanny/housekeeper for other foreign families to give you an opportunity to travel to different countries?
@THATSSOELLEN
@THATSSOELLEN 7 лет назад
Exactly! The J1 visa provides you with a cultural exchange and what better way to get to know a culture and a country then to be a part of a family and their day to day life!

Jag håller på med min ansökan som Au pair med culture care. Tycker du jag ska byta eller hålla kvar vid dom? Blir rädd när du berättar denna historia.
@THATSSOELLEN
@THATSSOELLEN 7 лет назад

@THATSSOELLEN
@THATSSOELLEN 7 лет назад
Hejsan! Kram
