Story Time - What its like to be funny 

I swear SO many things I see in your videos feel just like some of the things in my life. I use comedy to hide behind my depression and pain but I never thought of it as you put it. Thank you for opening my eyes and making this video. Oddly enough, my grandmother, who I also called Memaw, lived in Tazewell, VA and also suffered from alzheimer's disease.

Happiness and sadness are both contagious

Thanks for sharing your story boogie. I've dealt with many terrible things in my life as well, including depression, and for the most part I've figured things out, or at least how to deal with it. But when you talked about "fake it till you make it" that really hit me. So often I feel like not putting In the effort for something even when I know the outcome would be beneficial. I'll do my best to suck it up not only for myself but for others as well, even when I don't feel like it. Thanks man.

I'd just like to say, that you're just an awesome guy. I remember, the first video I saw of yours, was when you got the Furby, and I showed it to my best friend, and we just died laughing. After seeing a lot more of the Francis videos, we've just gotten to the point where we talk to each other in the Francis voice, quote Francis sometimes, etc. Lol. Your regular videos are really good too. I find your outlook on life to be very inspiring. Hope you're doing well,and can't wait to see more videos.

Thank you for this. I'm not a comedian, I'm a musician, but knowing that someone who has gone through depression, pain, traumatic moments, etc and can still be successful and also finds happiness in making other people happy makes what I'm going through now just a bit easier to bear. So thank you. You helped me hold on another day.

I feel the love everytime you make one of these personal videos. Its better to find the comedic in darker times than to wallow in them, and any time i can make some one at my work laugh it makes me happy to bring them out of that pain or bad state. 09:55 - You definitely hit the nail on the head. When I got back from Iraq, 4 years ago, It seemed that everything went down hill for me. I had the feeling of being alone and no one understanding what I was going through. It finally hit me that I needed to get help. To this day, I've been going to group therapy with others that have been through the same thing... Anyways, you're an inspiration, man. I always enjoy watching your videos!

This is only my second video of yours that I've seen and I dont know you and have never met you , but I can tell that you arer a good person man and your story speaks to me. Humor is great medicine and is very healthy to use as a coping skill as long as we are able to realize what we are using it for and are able to vent about things from time to time like you are doing here. I think I know a little about how you feel. I'm kinda the "funny guy" too, or at least I try to be. I didn't have a serious issue like you, but it was something that changed my perspective. To put it simple, I try to make people laugh because I don't want them to be unhappy, but I'm not like this every time. Sometimes I feel depressed and when that happens, I come here, watch some of your videos and then I start laughing and forget about everything. So, I really wanted to say "thank you", man.

Boogie, you're more than just a comedian to a lot of us, you've become our roll model, our icon of hope and possibility. I guess it just feels different when you watch someone before they go viral, and then when they do, and they start to get a serious following you say, hey all it takes, is one good video and even someone like me could be able to entertain and inspire people by the thousands. Boogie, I started watching your vids about 1 year ago I dont have no family troubles but man do you make me laugh! :) Whenever im really depressed i watch one of your vids..And you know what i do? i sit there and laugh and smile because there isnt any other person like you. Keep doing what makes you happy, boogie! I can't imagine what you went through, but I had a similar family life (more verbally abusive, or simply not there to make a difference). Battling obesity on a day-to-day basis was so difficult growing up.

That and I think this is true with alot of people with weight issues and size. We learn to laugh at our selfs,because it's so much eaiser for our voice to join the corus of other people that are already laughing at us then to try to fight back with our tears or with our anger. I know exactly what you mean. I am not happy just living my own life. I'm not that bothered about my career or my car or my house, I am only happy if my friends and family are. I get the feeling this is what LunnBass is referring to. I wouldn't say it for the reason he says. Im glad you said it because now I know some people understand it. My X's have told me I need to be more self motivated.Thats just not how my brain works.Ive worked hard to be successful for them. Otherwise I lack motivation.

To make another person(s) happy, show the characteristics of a true soul. Even in a wince of ache and hurt one will always find happiness. To make a good laugh at something that hurt,makes me want to shake your hand and say that's how we need to live, and you have alot of honour.

On the opposite side of the coin of being overweight there is being underweight. I developed some self deprecating humor, about exaggerating how weak I am, or lazy, or inattentive, or nervous, or idiotic, when I moved to a new high school and didn't have any friends. That still helps me make connections with people today. I think it's good to call you self an idiot, and maybe act like one, but know that you aren't one.

I really understand a lot of this. I was always the clown. I was good at making everyone laugh. I'd imitate myself talking drunk (cuz my dad was always drunk) during lunch in elementary school. Now that i'm older I realized it was a way to cope. Thanks for making this video. It feels so much better to have a sense of community, even if it's not a bright spot in our lives, it's brighter since we have one another and not feel so alone.

Awesome video. I make people laugh for the same reasons. It's an unexplainable feeling to be the one making someone laugh (for a good reason) and take their mind of the bad things and struggles they're going through.
