If Corny wasn’t so annoying I’d probably listen to him because I don’t think any man on earth has the wrestling knowledge he has but he’s to freakin annoying to listen to for hrs like James and Dutch. Their so entertaining the hrs fly by
I'll never get tired of listening to Dutch and James. As a 35 yr old guy who grew up watching the attitude era, it's so awsome to learn history about the territories and different companies including wwf/e
When I was a kid most of the WWF and WCW roster came to my old gym... They were utterly monstrous looking humans, literally no one would have messed with them.. and there was some tough ass dudes trained there.. Brian Adams, the Steiner's, Hawk, Animal, Ric Rude... if Darby Allen and Jungle boy walked in with the Young Bucks I don't think they would get the same reaction. 😂
@EBC-ENTYeah dunno man, many of the old school guys also had amateur wrestling backgrounds, couple this with their sheer size and athletic skills, stamina, etc..I think they could have stomped Gracie, especially the guys like Bob Roop, Ole Anderson, Steve Williams, Bob Orton Jr, etc..All of whom had extensive amateur wrestling experience with collegiate careers and in Roop an Olympic medalist. There is a reason Gracie and his family resisted allowing high level grapplers into the first few UFC events, not taking anything from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but it's not the unbeatable discipline. You could easily argue that the English pro wrestlers like Adrian Street, Billy Robinson, Karl Gotch, etc with their experience in CACC would have beaten most of the early UFC competition, as it was a Gotch trained Sakuraba a CACC trained pro wrestler who handed the Gracie's their first losses..
@EBC-ENT Its about perception and appearence. Your selling tickets to everyday people, there isnt too many UFC fighters that have made as much money as Hogan has, if at all. Brock gets double points. What young people dont know or hate to admit shoot wrestling, UFC, and p;ro wrestling are cousins. Id put money on Danny Hodge or Lou Thesz in their heyday to beat most ju jitsu practioners of that era. Dan Severn sucked as a pro wrestler put Gracie had quite the difficulty is beating him in the early UFC. A real wrestler that can strike, is pretty formidible. Back to the Gracies, Rickson was dominant but never fought anyone in their prime, The Gracies often want to control the rules in their favor. It was catch and professional wrestler Billy Robinson that trained Sakuraba. We saw how catch wrestling did against the Gracie family. The Gracies and most early UFC grapplers were horrible on their feet. Oncde code was cracked and the rules changed, they pulled out of UFC. You couldnt just lay in the guard forever.
Dutch knows his craft like few others. Look at his career and all the talent that benefited from the Dutch Mantel learning tree. Keep up the great work
So you're easily frightened by oiled-up weight-lifters? Those aren't the scary ones. In real life, it's more likely the squirrelly little bastard who'll stick you, that's the one you gotta worry about. Big guys suck at fighting. I wouldn't fear Hogan; he would take me lightly enough to give me his back, and that'd be all the chance I'd need... if I felt like going to prison but I really do not.
The women’s division is even worse. Near midget Zelina hanging with someone like Rhea isn’t believable. Countless women on the roster not much bigger than Zelina
Dutch isnt lying talking about rest stops..I used to hitchhike a lot when I was young, and I met a girl at one, well a truck stop, actually,..who was 'working', and I was talking to her and she asked my age. I told her I was 19 and she said "wow, youre way older than me". I didnt even wanna ask how much 'way older' was.
Many wrestlers today seem to lack charisma. Despite that on average they are in better shape than yesterday's wrestlers, but hardly any have the charisma of Ric Flair or Dusty.
Booker T wasn't trying to do an English accent he was trying to do a Jamaican accent. It wasn't the greatest but it certainly wasn't as bad as Kevin Nash's Italian.
Thank you Dutch 10 months later and I finally get why I don't like Ricochet. I kept saying to myself that us short guys gotta support each other but I can't even force myself to give a single Eff about him.
Of course I never worked and traveled for the hours they did, but when I was working 2 jobs I would nod off all the time for a split second and it always terrified the hell out of me.
Real nuggets in there, "people will pay to see the baby face win, they will not pay to see the baby face lose." Doesn't mean they have to win each time, but very interesting in terms of how to tell the perspective of a feud. Nice little saying that explains a lot.
I remember Booker's last match in TNA; he was supposed to go out on a stretcher but he didn't bother - he just rolled out of the ring and walked to the back. Totally unprofessional. I bet that Booker was probably frustrated with the product but he never put any effort in - even guys like Sting and Kevin Nash gave it their all, despite being past their prime. Booker gave the impression that he was slumming it and didn't take anything seriously. There was the accent thing (he put on a weird African accent backstage as well, calling Jeremy Borash 'Jeremiah' and such) but his matches weren't much cop either, even against the likes of AJ Styles.
Hogan battled Andre, famously, but his biggest, best feuds in the WWF were against Roddy Piper and Randy Savage--who were NOT monsters. Ted DiBiase was NOT a monster. Hogan's first major feud as a babyface was in the AWA, against Nick Bockwinkel. The most anticipated feud, albeit a let down, was against Ric Flair. Neither whom were monsters. So the idea that Hogan could only sell tickets fighting monster heels is just plain wrong.
Sean Waltman wasn't the shortest guy in the mid-90s WWF - I'm pretty sure he was taller than Marty Jannetty, Chris Candido, Owen Hart and Koko B Ware, probably Davey Boy Smith as well. He was just as tall as Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart. What made him stand out was how skinny he was - he was easily the slimmest guy on the roster and probably weighed 160lbs soaking wet at the time. 40lbs lighter than the likes of Shawn Michaels who himself was considered very small by the standards of the time and 50-55lbs lighter than Owen. Waltman bulked up a bit over the years though and I think as X-Pac, he'd have looked like a decent sized guy on the 2023 AEW or even WWE roster.
I think that I watched this already; there is something about having Hulk Hogan's name, as iconic as it is, in the title that will draw you into watching whichever video that shows his name in the title, even the video being shown is not really even about him! 😋
Hulk Hogan is the 2nd most important person in the history of sports entertainment. Vince McMahon is the most important person IMO but Hulk is a very close 2nd.
Dutch is a wealth of knowledge if I had a promotion I would hire jim Cornette Dutch mantell and Paul heyman to be the writers also would hire Bruce Prichard
For me the word "worker" needs to be reclaimed. A "worker" is what Hulk is, the greatest ever, worked the crowd, drew the most money, expert at drawing sympathy and using his physical performance to tell a story. That's a worker. He worked the people. A great wrestler, says more about the style of match. Almost like saying Rocky 3 is one of the greatest movies of all time because it made people truly care and drew loads of money (I happen to agree with this) but someone might say, Shawshank is the greatest film. It's tough though because for me, I don't care what happens in your match if its meaningless. Just like a crap action movie. The Rock is one of the best ever because he told stories and everything mattered. Now, tombstone on the apron, 2 count. So, why keep watching.
There’s video of that hockey cup thing on RU-vid with the person shoots the puck all the way down and it goes through the little tiny hole. They quit doing it after that though.
Wait a sec....Hogan did a lot of Saturday Night main events, MTV matches with Piper, and several matches on Monday night main event I think it was called. Rare, yes, but he was om TV a lot.
Hi Dutch - This will show my age, but what can you tell me about my all time favorite wrestler growing up, who is DON LEO JONATHAN please? Thanks - Ronnie
Sean Michael Waltman is an American professional wrestler currently signed to WWE under a legends contract. He is best known for his appearances for the World Wrestling Federation under the ring names 1-2-3 Kid and X-Pac, World Championship Wrestling as Syxx, and NWA Total Nonstop Action as Syxx-Pac and Sean Waltman. Wikipedia Born: 1972 (age 50 years), Minneapolis, MN Height: 6′ 1″ Weight: 212 lbs
I thought it was a snorefest to see Four hundred pounders working with a three hundred pounder . Hulk just wanted to appear vulnerable . It worked to have guys bigger than him menace him . But it would have worked just as well for Hogan to work big man style vs smaller wrestlers . Hogan could work but he rarely got to show it . He was no Bret Hart but he could wrestle .
Of course Xpac turned down AEW. He doesn’t want to upset the Kilq especially trips. Billy Gunn wasn’t invited to the last two on screen get together and it might have had something to do with being Daddy Ass..i know Jericho did Stone Colds show but that’s just a network thing and not live tv.
When talking about Hogans wrestling abilities, it is important to differenciate between amateur and pro wrestling. When comparing some of the biggest stars in football, i'd say that Christiano Ronaldo probably would be a terrible Quarterback and Mahomes a terrible Goalgetter.
"Modern wrestlers." They really like that word, 'modern'. As if nobody knows who The Rock is these days. And you know what, maybe they don't. Because for people who looove to make a living those modern wrestlers can sure harp on about how the Attitude Era was a "perfect storm" or call Vince McMahon a "weird old man". I mean, because they are so great at making a living based off their own worth, of course. You'd think they'd be natural friends with the highest paid actor in Hollywood or a self-made billionaire. You'd think they'd get along well, but they don't. So what is it, then? Why don't they listen to those who made a living long before they did? Oh, I get it. Because it's obsolete. Because it doesn't work today. No, they're right. Like they say, and anyone can see it over the past 15 years, us critical fans clearly think we are infallible, a true authority. We shouldn't have the right to say that we want our burgers with extra cheese. That's so arrogant of us. They're offering the food. We need to just shut up and swallow it and be thankful. I pity the fool.
The Rock or John Cena I don't think most wrestling fans consider "modern wrestler". Rock worked in Memphis (USWA) and Cena in OVW, which were very late territories.
@@goodday2760 No, but you could also say enough time has passed for Cena and Rock to be considered "old". I mean, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero (both wrestled since the 1980s) and John Cena peaked all at the same time in the mid 2000s, so Cena worked and is associated with with a lot of older guys. That era is rapidly approaching the 20 year mark, so I wouldn't consider it modern.
Ive often wondered if Dutch puts on a bit of make up to put some colour in his cheeks for these episodes. Hes Dutch so obviously he can do what de fook he wants im just wondering.
I used to mark out at Aubrey Edwards but when she slowly started wearing more makeup than the Ultimate Warrior, I started to feel she was drawing too much attention from the wrestlers. Now I hear she's been going after Botch videos? I've totally lost all respect.
Other than not knowing all the people and some minor details of a story, the only thing that grinds my gears is Dutch constantly clearing his throat, hard to take on the headphones
