Only Ren could condense a 3 hour film into 9 minutes with just a grand piano and a string quartet, who makes music with a piano and strings theses days ffs but he makes it so relevant and enthralling. “The Tale of Jenny and screech (full version)” is a must watch, 3 separate video’s combined into one 13 minutes masterpiece. I think Ren is making waves in 2024. His last 3 retakes are brilliant! I agree with you on the mainstream music packaging. I’m happy Ren is an Independent Artist. We get to truly experience his magic.

The thing that really makes you ponder is Ren had a contract with Sony... he was on the path to be an Industry Artist. When he got sick that opportunity passed so he had to continue on his own. The most painful and destructive thing in his life is what's responsible for him being this artist. The independent, make the music he wants, make 2 minute or 10 minute tracks, artist. I can't be glad for his suffering, I would never with that on anyone. I can be glad he was strong enough to get through it and then use it.

It's unreal how REN can produce the quality, originality and artistry in the last few years...a UK numbet 1 album...and NOT get a single mention at the BRIT awards. Add the video collaborations with Sam too...crazy!! But then...they probably do him a favour because he stays humble without the 'industry'. You should reach out to him...he's such a nice guy, maybe still in Calgary on a friendly time zone perhaps...would be a damn good convo 👍❤

I suggest every single Ren song :) I have listened to them all. And I like them all, and LOVE most of them. I've never found an artist with as big a catalog as he has where I didn't hate at least one song. He is special.

Technically people were right. You don’t have to do part 1 and 2 first… but it does make part 3 even better. I guess you will understand what I mean if you do check the other two out too. For now I will just say “rain”. Anyway welcome back to the Ren rabbit hole! It’s been too long. It goes deep and it’s full of brilliance, so don’t stay away for too long if you ever want to reach the bottom 😅 Unless you’re checking out some of his stuff outside of reactions? This video is definitely a masterpiece. I just sat in silent shock after the premiere and the only coherent thought I had at the time was that if Netflix doesn’t give this man his own show, they’re fools 😂 Absolute storytelling genius. Also from one metalhead to another, you should really check out Crutch feat. Bibi. Well it isn’t really metal, but it is something very special and different from Ren. Crutch is an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning.

Not sure if you're aware but Ren composed all the music for this. It's based on the melody from the song from Money Games 1 and 2 (except for the very beginning which I think is part of a classical piece.) He is amazing and your reaction was wonderful. Subbing for more Ren.

There are singers who sing, and there are musicians who tell a story. Not every many can do so in a way that you want to hear and experience every word and leave hearing a song feeling differently than before. Ren does this so very well. You are not the same person after each performance.

I was SO happy when I saw the notification that you were planning on reacting to this beautiful wild ride. I really enjoyed watching your emotional journey through the song - he is amazing at pulling out every emotion from us. TheWolfJohnson was invited by Ren to document the making of this song and I think you would really appreicate it - your comments at the beginning regarding how Ren really uses the space made me think of it. You definitely didn't need the first two money games to understand the message here but I do suggest you give them a listen - you will notice some common lines and callbacks between the three and the other two are amazing in their own right. Loved it

Something as simple as a reaction video... a big part of what Ren attributes his success to. He specifically thanked reactors in his 1M subscribers video. His best interviews are with RU-vid reactors and for the first part of last year he was commenting on each and every reaction, no matter the size of the channel or how critical the reaction was. Different people will have different favorites of course, and Ren has a deep catalog of different messages in different styles. I think Crutch is on the required listening list. A song he wrote and performed when he was really ill, not yet properly diagnosed, and certain he would die soon.

Excellent reaction! Honestly…everything you’ve reacted to by Ren is excellent…it’s also super heavy subject wise. I think you need to see Rens fun side. The guy is way too gifted to only be seen as doing deep music constantly. Believe it or not, Ren sometimes has fun! His band, The Big Push, does a mashup of “I Shot the Sheriff,” “Road to Zion,” and “Hip Hop.” It is a live performance, busking on the streets of Brighton. And it’s so brilliant. Go on…see Rens fun side for a change.

You really should trust Ren and follow his order of delivery. Rather than others opinions. You acknowledge that everything he does is micro-intentional and for a specific purpose,and then ignore your own insights? There is a REASON why he did Money Game Parts 1 & 2 - before 3! He carefully lays out all the strands in the tapestry that he brings together here. He fleshes out context. Yes each one is brilliant enough to be able to stand on it's own - but that wasn't his intent here. These are - to a significant degree - building blocks. Suggest you view 1 & 2 and then come back and review this one. 👍

Definitely watch Money Game Parts 1 and 2, also Dominoes, Ready For You, Genesis, Power, Animal Flow, Fire, Illest of Our Time, Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Remix... Honestly, it's hard to go wrong with Ren and he's got a lot of songs out there. Some on his own, some with The Big Push (really love them), some collabs with other artists, and some back at the beginning with Trick the Fox. I love that his body is work is incredibly diverse. He refuses to be put into any neatly packaged box.

So glad to hear you comment on the environmental sounds and how he uses them. I completely agree, and it's rarely commented on. He uses pauses in the music theatrically, but they're not silence--they're filled with sounds that add to the atmosphere and meaning.

One of Ren's last 3 drops Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Retake, for me as a vocalist, is spectacular. Not just in the vocals but how he puts together a live performance. His eye for the smallest details I don't think there's anything like this around. Even though he's using lyrics to the originals except for the middle part that's his, the vision and arrangement is amazing to me. If that sounds interesting to you, that would be a great one to react to.

I would say always watch trilogy’s in order, there is music in this that reflects from 1 & 2, also, its the timing-in on the Rain, the bags on head etc., and its the finale.

This video was a single take!!!! Ffs this dude is brilliant. I believe I heard he did it over 300 times to get this final take. He added the rain at the end, almost last moment. Ren was critical in every aspect of this, down to making sure the kid in a bag was taken care of because of the heat in the building

No it was Money Game 1 that took 180 takes, this one was shot in one day, had a cut behind the wheelchair so they could get string players in place, move his mic to his tie and waterproof it and also he had only one suit and wouldn’t have time to dry everything out

It was a pleasure to see your experience this masterpiece. I'm a huge fan of reactions in nearly any kind of way and to find a reaction like this is a task of patience - but every now and then i get lucky and have the chance to see and listen what it looks like if a important musician, someone with meaning in his words and a will to bite itself through the problems of our time, our society and the music industry to share his talent with us - have his magic affecting the listeners. Since you asked at the end, i would highly suggest you to listen to Part 1 & 2 of the Money Game's and especially give his Song "Eden" a try. I think of all songs Ren ever released, Eden might be the most difficult project to bring out and have it understood the way it should be understood. It's in my eyes one of the most important songs of this whole generation of music we experience right now. It's one of a kind. He doesn't take the easy route. Well done, man, I liked it. 👍❤ However, you couldn't get the references to part 1+2. But everyone as he likes. There are two great behind the scenes videos about MG3 by Wolf Johnson. And he has done things like this on "stage": At least live versions of Hi Ren and Jenny & Screech are on his channel. Regarding your words at the end of reaction ("moments like this, that make me want to be better"): Listen to 'Eden' by Ren. It kind of belongs to the trilogy. It was the end of an internet puzzle called Money Game that Ren had started. Summaries of its stages can be found on RikaShae's channel. One famous line in it is the following: "We must be better simply because the option exists." And finally: Is there anything else he's done, you need to look at? Yes, all of his songs. There isn't a bad one.

I concur. I was waiting till you found Ren again. Ren’s focus is his art - music, lyrics, bars, singing, guitar, keyboards, mixing music, and directing his videos including editing. Obviously he has gathered a wonderful team around to support him. Yes, Ren is Welch and British artist belonging to the U.K. But his scope is so much larger. I could see you were astonished even though you had seen Ren in previous reactions. Keep going as much as you are pulled to. I alway enjoy your reactions and analysis. Money game 1 & 2 are related in theme, but not the story specifically. They're masterpieces in their own right though. Absolutely worth checking out. You should 100% check out his song "Seven Sins" as well, masterful.

I don't know who told you you didn't need to watch the others first, but I'd beg to differ. Although they do all stand alone, each one builds on the next and they all contain references to each other culminating in this spectacular piece. Love the hoodie I got one for my birthday 70years young. I got hooked on this young man this year what a wonderful gift he has I mentioned my age I was born in 1953 so I got to see music grow from The Beatles to moments like this special this is Keep making music Ren and good health.

This is the video of his I'm the most impressed with. Hi ren impacted me more but as a wannabe musician I appreciate all the little details in this and the amazing sound and camera work. Anyone can make a good video but to make it live like he does blows my mind.
