Grooming is not just with a minor. It happens in cases of sexual trafficking, financial theft, sexual assault, terrorism, extortion and just straight “relationships” that end up psychologically abusive.

This is such an important topic that I’m sure so many young people can relate to! This brought me back to all the times I would browse stores or cafes alone as a young teen. Strange men would talk to me out of the blue, too. It’s good to be aware of how predatory people like “Coco” can be and I’m so frustrated that you had to go through this, Izzy 🥺❤️

your parents are great! I don't think a lot of parents know how dangerous this situation could be and would probably blame their children. I also think, that you still reacted smart for your age, because you didn't trust him that much and you shouldn't be ashamed because a lot of children would have reacted worse, but that would still not be their fault and if any of you trusted someone that took advantage of you and were groomed, you should not feel guilty about it in any way!

Thank you for sharing this story. These types of people like to flatter young girls and typically the pedos/predators do seem like nice, charming people who may also gain the trust of the parents (e.g. youth leaders, people who have jobs w/kids). I appreciate your willingness to tell people about your experience.

Your biggest mistake was giving your number to a stranger but I'm glad nothing got too serious

I was gro*med when I was 18 by someone who was like in his 30s and the worst part is that this guy had known me since I was like 6, since he used to hang out with my dad at that point. Thing is, he started sending flowers (he sent like 4 bouquets within a MONTH), chocolates and creepy ass letters. I always felt very uncomfortable with that and so did most of my friends and most of my family members, specially since he literally saw me grow up. He of course knew where I lived and he was going on for this "secret admirer" thing, even tho I figured out who he was pretty early on. He once sent me this letter telling me to tie a ribbon around a tree at the front yard of my house so he would SEE it and know that I was interested in knowing his identity (which I already knew but kinda wanted to make sure) and THAT made me feel so uncomfortable, as if he were constantly wandering near my house, I mean. I felt like I was being constantly observed. His motive was that he 'wanted to get to know me better'. I grew so tired of his bullshit that I eventually told him to cut the crap and fuck off and he fortunately did. I never pressed charges because as creepy as he was my family and I considered harmless plus he immediately stopped when I told him to. I still see him every now and then and I'm not sure if he knows that I know it was him, but I try to stay as far from him as I can.

My daughter is going thru what you went thru with the friend bit she is a type 1 diabetic and has been bullied about it too. I have caught her talking to strangers on her phone and it scares me to death I am going to shair your story with her I hope it helps before it’s to late. They will often use a young good looking and charming person to get the girl hooked then pass them on up towards older people when they gain there trust

Thank you so much for this. I’m so sorry you had to go through this. I was groomed online when I was 14 into doing sexual roleplays and writing with someone who was 17 at the time. They turned 18, didn’t break it off for I think around three months I want to say? But even after they broke it off they still requested it and I obliged due to not seeing an issue with it and that being my first relationship. I thought it was normal and I feel so ashamed for not seeing anything wrong with it. I feel like I’m to blame since I did have a crush on them and asked them out first. After they broke it off we still did it until I was 16, and then a month after my 17th birthday I admitted I still had feelings for them and them, now being 20 and turning 21, said that they were waiting for me to come of age so we could be together. I feel so stupid I didn’t see that as a massive red flag. So we dated again for a month before I broke it off since I told my mum and my sister and they both agreed it was harmful for me. I didn’t tell them about the roleplays or anything, but even then, they realised that an age gap like that was odd and that was the first time I really said “whoa wait this is odd.” I did unfortunately go back to them in 2020 but cut contact again last year and since then I’ve been trying to heal. When I contacted them again in 2020 they were fine, nothing happened. But I just couldn’t get over it. Get images in my head of the stuff we wrote. The screen, the writing. They didn’t ask for anything like nudes, just the writing. But writing smut at that age has just harmed me a ton and I’ve only realised in retrospect. I felt used and ashamed. I don’t hate them, but I just feel like such a idiot for not realising sooner. It hit hard when you said that they were smooth and charming because that’s how she was. I looked up to her and she owned a fairly large RP community. I wanted to impress her and I didn’t see an issue with it until years later. I’m 21 now and trying my best to get over it. Sorry for this ramble, but again I just wanted to say thank you. This helped.

This is late but it must be very brave for u to share this story. I was also groomed when I was 15 by someone who was 23. Unfortunately it led to terrible things. He blackmailed me into sending nudes. At least I learned from this experience.

I'm sorry this happened to you, I feel like this is happening to me but I'm not sure , so I have this teacher , let's call him dean, so I got my schedule changed and deans class was placed on my schedule , so I had been missing days due to the fact that I was dealing with bad anxiety and wasn't sleeping and stuff so I came that Friday , but nothing was said , so then the I came the next week on Wednesday , and that's when he called me up to his desk so I thought he's just gonna make sure I'm supposed to be in his class or whatever but that wasn't the case and before he asked my classmates was I new and asked a weird question of if I've always worn glasses, so anyways I went up to desns desk , he said that he didn't want me standing up, so I sat down in the chair , and he used a lot of profanity , so he asked me like if I was a senior , and if I was going to college or whatever and I told him my goals after I graduate and he told me not to do that and began to say very rude things , he asked me if I had a car and when's my bday , even asked if I had kids , and some more personal questions, and it really rubbed me the wrong way, and I told my parents obi so then another day he held my friends hand , and touched my shoulder and said "don't tell nobody we be effing up" and looked me deeply in the eyes , so I made a report and the principal, let's just say he's not a good one , so I decided to try to move on , but whenever I go to his class I get a very uneasy feeling , and I try to record him, so then this week , on Tuesday I came in late or whatever, he always ask me how I'm doing bc my mom had a meeting and told them some things I go through on the daily , and he wants me to talk to him , so anyway I told him that I was doing awful, usually I try to just not talk about my feelings bc it's hard for me but I was just dealing with so much at the time , I decided to tell him and he was saying like what drew him to me was that I love to write and he went on to "encourage" me , and I won't go into detail about what all he said but it just dosent feel right,but it's like everytime I try to tell someone that I feel in my gut that he's very dangerous and capable of doing ill things to others , no one really listens to me, and it makes me feel like I'm crazy and that I'm making a big deal out of nothing,but I've kinda been through this before with a family member, and it's honestly been driving me crazy bc I know that he has ill intentions but I just can't figure out exactly what his intentions with me are
