Boston, 2016. Video Game programmer & creator Jonathan Blow kicks off PAX East with his backstory in video games and how he developed the concepts for critically acclaimed games Braid and The Witness.
There's a cut at about 16:20. He's talking about how extensive hand holding in japanese games spoil the games. That's actually very initeresting because from my experience the japanese have a strong culture of thorough and precise explanation of how stuff works in their products overall (not only games but youtube channels, instructions etc.). So it's bad in games, but it's awesome for education. Anyway, I digress, but here you go, if someone wondered what got censored.
@@TehEMan I won't believe that story. The hiccup was really convenient as it aligned with devastating criticism of whole branch of games - bussiness products PAX has the job of promoting. I would say Jon's generalizations are sometimes out of proportion and unneeded, and his comments are pejorative and driven by super-personal-perspective.
