We took this tram in December down to Innsbruck and the views were fantastic...it looked and felt more like a fairy tail ride than a real mode of transportation. Wish I would have taken some video. it was great to find yours though. The only thing missing in this video were the amazing views of Innsbruck from the mountains!
Die schönste Straßenbahnstrecke der Welt! Besteht fast nur aus Kurven. Wobei es in Innsbruck auch noch die ebenfalls sehenswerte Stubaitalbahn gibt. In Deutschland gibt es zwei ähnliche Strecken, nämlich die Bergische Museumsbahn in Wuppertal und die Stadtbahn von Karlsruhe nach Ittersbach. Zwei weitere Bahnen in Pforzheim und Hagen sind leider in den 1960er-Jahren verschwunden. In Aigle und Bex in der Schweiz fahren noch die BVB und die ASD durch den Wald in die Berge hinein, ebenfalls Mischung aus Straßen- und Eisenbahn.
I stayed there in 1971 as part of a tour from Scotland and i remember taking the old tram at a cost of just 5p ( GBP ) when the currency in Austria was in Schillings. Our own currency had just changed to decimalisation. The views looking down the Mountainside was breathtaking.
Mam znajomych w Innsbrucku, którzy każdego roku z utęsknieniem czekają na wakacje, żeby pojechać gdzieś, gdzie nie ma gór ;). Zawsze nam czegoś brakuje w życiu...
@Xipo86 The first train went in 1900 (120 years ago!). It had a steam engine. At those times, it were much cheaper to let the track follow the hillside.
