Right! And not every day you see a black woman in the METAL scene! Not a racial person, skin color means nothing to me. It’s the respect for people is more like what I am about!
I personally wish there were more black women vocalists in a similar vein of this kind of metal, so we could hear a more variety of what they can do with their voices in this genre. Of course, I digress. Great video, song kicks ass, glad I gave this a view.
Just discovered this band yesterday from a co-worker. Loving it! They have a similar sound to Butcher Babies, another band I love. Big ups to my fellow black metalheads!
This sounds awesome its rare to find African American/mixed race artist in heavy metal counting Killswitch Engage/Devil You Know( Howard Jones ), Sevendust, God Forbid that makes 4ish amazing bands
It's been so long and yet I always find my way back to Straight Line Stich lol . This band didn't get the recognition it deserved when they were around. I hope they return one day bc I really need Alexis screaming some new new in my ears lolol..
I caught this band by chance on MTV2 during the Headbanger's Ball hour and I fell in love instantly :) I said to myself "I'm gonna meet this gorgeous woman" and sure enough, I did, when they played the B.B. King Blues Club in NYC. I have the find the photos as back then I had a taken them with a reg camera and not my phone.
I wish I have a voice sounds like that but people around me thinks is for mad people just because I live in the Caribbean doesn't mean I can't listen to these masterpiece. And I don't care because one day I can practice these skills
I'm not exactly sure what the video's message is, but stuff about the tyranny of the system, invasion of privacy and kids being raised as zombies is all in there somewhere. The two girls (the little kid and the teen) are obviously younger versions of Alexis, the storyteller. Representing kids getting bombarded with propaganda from their birth up.
She is one of the nicest ppl to ever meet... she practically hopped across their signing table just so I could get a pic with her... same thing with the band sevendust... coolest ppl ever.
saw them at Mayhem in San Fran a few weeks ago..OMG best DAY EVER. she signed a CD of theirs and gave it to me the band couldnt be MORE friendly and awesome..their music kicked my eardrums in the nuts..SLS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!
I will be seeing them tonight in Spartanburg SC @ Ground Zero!! I'm a metal head from way back and this is a great band. I am also proud that she doesn't care what ppl think... cos she is just awesome...... yes I also happen to be a black chic!
People were asking what song we listened to the most this year. I'm pretty sure this is the song for me. I played the shit out of this one. The energy and motivation kept me going through a lot of physical exertion. Just bad ass! Here's to more of the same in 2024.
Alexis is definitely original there is no one like her. Here voice is a metal masterpiece. And SLS is my favorite band and this video and this song just further proves that they OWN period. SLS is paving their own path.
This chick is beautiful and talented as hell. She can harmonize as well as any of these dime a dozen R&B singers...and she can metal out too. My hats off to Straight Line Stitch.
I saw them live in Dordrecht and they were awesome as f*ck!!! They're just really talentfull, I don't understand why they don't get the attention they just need!
