There are some cars that look familiar at first glance, but really aren't what you think. The Dodge Mirada is one of those that is super rare, yet somehow familiar. This resto-mod is nicely done and preserves most of what was great about this forgotten Mopar, and improves the things that weren't.

Good to see another Mirada out there. With the Mopar Nats sticker on the windshield, chances are he might be talking about my brown Mirada.

I’m very proud of you. I enlisted in the Airforce in 1979. One of my first trips on leave I flew into Detroit airport. In those days the car makers liked to display the new cars for the next model year and I remember a red Dodge Mirada in the airport. I loved that car. It was very gorgeous and stays in my mind from my past. Thankyou for showing it. The Mirada I saw I believe was hard top no vinyl top. Over 40 years ago but still in my history. I keep editing my comment. That Red Mirada in 1980 looked like a bullet. I was a poor Airman fresh out of basic training and tech school. Had no means of buying one but had dreams of owning it. The Mirada at the Detroit airport was a darker red than yours.. almost a maroon.. that’s the color I remember. Floor console shifter. Sorry I’m spilling my guts for my past and you have helped me to re live it sir. Excellent job in your Mirada one of Chrysler best looking cruisers ever offered to the public. Your Mirada is beautiful after you buffed that paint!

I like your modification to the rear lights. Looks nice! Those rear body fillers are available for all J-bodies.

Man I absolutely Love these cars! A blacked out cmx or same on an imperial is down right mean and sext looking and caries that awesome "mad max" look! When I do my first mopar it will be one of these, black of course with a 400 big block and a manual swap. I think these cars have the most hot rod potential because u can get one sooooo darn cheap! I could never figure out why they weren't and aren't now more popular. They just look so damn Hot! Haha. Great job man. Do u have any interest in doing a late 70's magnum? They are mean in all black too!

Yo Nick. Yeah, I too love the styling and the options which are possible with this chassis. I have a way-back machine and this is what I have learned since picking up an 83 ("What the heck is that?" really was my first thought) CMX #269 from 1983. Dodge/Chrysler was broke, was failing, the fuel prices, emissions, and some loans had to be dealt with. They wanted to call this the Magnum but soon realized Nah, there's no power available at the money we have available for the J-body. The platform of the J-Body was created by just reusing all the M and F-body parts on hand. Lee Iacocca was just taking over and rumor is the top was his idea. The Firm placed their focus on building the K-body (FWD, EFI) and really had no time to waste (see we ended up losing RWD coupes) there was little advertising money, which read like... " So you like the MonteCarlo? Come buy a Mirada!" Color, yeah black looks nice. Popular, well with less than 60k units produced, a limited source of F&M body parts and a whole factory redesign for the K-Body our poor J-Body never stood a chance. Seriously though, I bought mine (83 100k mi) because it is La SeriesV8(318, 2bbl) RWD Coupe, and of limited production, oh and it was Dealer owned, dealer maintained, then cleaned, topped off then was parked for over a decade. So with that being said, ours does not have a lean burn issue, even with all stock factory (modified as per dodge lean burn repair notes, see dodge service memos) components including that PRE-OBD ECU, electric air/fuel mixture software.

Do you have more rear bumper fillers they are really hard to find and I like what you did there

Replica-plastics, I think they are called. See interwebs. Yeah mine are on Order, should be made and on their way soon. To California was $300.00 and it is worth it.

I have a 81 with 49k original miles, sadly the roof is rusted out but the rest of the car doesn't have rust at all, runs n drives phenomenal but I'm pulling the engine out tmr and swapping it into my 88 w100 ram... It looks bad on me cause I have a rep for destroying cars apparently 😅
