very nice video, but I found I can only pass HHT on my jnat if I finish on plain water with no pressure (maybe even lift the weight of razor during honing), the less pressure applied, the sharper the edge
I have found that the circle process is the most consistent and repeatable process to use when honing and I am honing almost all day every day. I can rely on this process to get excellent edges first time through virtually all the time. Thanks.
I'm getting a Shobudani Asagi in a couple of days and a naniwa 1000 traditional. I need to lap and finish them. I was thinking of using DMT 325 for major lapping and a 1200 for final finish. Do you think this would be ok?
I've noticed you're the only one who uses the circles (as far as I can tell from the videos on youtube), is there and advantage to using the circles instead of the traditional strokes? Thanks!! Really enjoy your videos.
Hi Lynn I have noticed that when you put the blade on the stone there is a clicking sound, are you placing the the spine down first or are you placing the blade on flat? say around the 8:20 mark. (I can't tell based on the way youtube does the frames to audio ratio.)
