Thanks for doing all of these videos Mr. Abrams. They were so helpful to me for learning how to wet shave a few years back. I've actually restored several old razors, made scales for them, and sold them so that I can afford more razors. I guess I've got the "straight razor bug". I always tell the people who buy my razors to watch your videos to learn the ropes. The honing videos on the norton 4k/8k were very helpful. Thanks again. Spookysharpedges on SRP and BAB.
Thanks! My nearly brand new Dovo kept flopping on my display and it was driving me nuts. I was tempted to call them for a replacement but no self respecting man can do that without tinkering with it!
Thanks, Happy Holidays to you too. Since you replied and I did not expect that... :) nice one by the way. Can you do a video about when you need honing ? I just bought a Dovo Bismarck and my understanding is that it is "shave ready". Do I need honing or not ? Will strapping suffice ? This chapter is a little uncovered in my book. Thanks a lot.
Hi Lynn I have a question I just purchased a bone handle straight razor, I beleive its cow horn and the hinge pin is way to loose would this method still be appropriate for a bone scale
+anthony wolfe You can try tapping on the opposite side of where it is close to or hitting the scale and see if that works. It may be that the pin is bent and you might want to repin it again. Good luck.
I works well with bone or horn. Just make sure not to hit too hard or on the tip of the scale past the hinge pin. The bone and horn is much more durable than the plastic, but will still break with excessive force.
