I do not get nervous form the sound. I like both kinds of blades thin and loud, and thick and silent. Razors are like potato chips, you cant just have one. :)

I do not really have any good tips other than makig small changes till you find out what works best. OCD razors are made by Bob Allman, I would seek him out on the Straight Razor Place Forums.

I have not had experience shaving with a scandi grind. All of my experience has been with hollow grinds. I know people who have shaved with different types of blades. My biggest concern would be with the ergonomics, how the blade feels in your hand.

I did a replica of this blade..wish i can show it to you 1 day. I tried to contact Bob by all means to ask for his consent but he was unreachable even by his close friends.

After the first couple of shaves the anxiety level really drops. A lot of people sart by just shaving thier side burns then move on to more of thier face as the get used to it. Starting with a shave ready razor and going slowly is the way to go.

This has to be one of the most enjoyable Straight Razor Shaving video's I've seen to date. Could be the look of the Razor, could be the sound of the hollow grind...hell might even be your technique. Either way, thanks for posting!

Do you ever get nervous shaving because I know I would by the sound of that I like solid razors because their silent and they don't scare me

After fifty years I am still fascinated by single blade shaving but I still can not put single edge to my face for fear of cutting myself.

Lewis, I recently received a knife from someone that is a scandi bushcraft type knife, with a blade from Enzo. The guy who made it says he has used this type as a face shaving razor. Have you ever heard of using a scandi grind for this? I am reluctant to try it, though it is sharp as hell.

Ha Ha normal whiskers here, the wide thin blade just makes a lot of noise.

I would either buy a new Dovo best quality 5/8s or 6/8s and get a package deal strop, razor, brush. Or I would buy a vintage razor, strop, from on of the sellers on the Straight Razor Place Forum classifieds section. The wiki on Straight Razor Place forums Is a good starting place.

Nice razor good shave. My against the grain pass on my neck is from my ears to the center of neck. Do you have any tips for that pass?
