OFF-GRID episode 3 is here and we're in SURVIVAL mode! This is the most action-packed ep so far... Join Graham, Steph & Harley and two newcomers as they visit the most rugged and beautiful hotspots of WA, and world-class gorges and remote camping!
In case you missed the earlier episodes, watch them here: 👇🏻
Ep 1: • NINGALOO TO THE KIMBER...
Ep 2: • Y62 crosses SALTWATER ...
The show comes to a grinding halt as the crew become stranded in floodwater after a huge outback rainstorm. Stuck with no escape, the dry tracks become a maze of mud! Plus they visit the ghost town of Wittenoom and check out some hidden secrets of Newman.

I love this series. I've skipped the last few "tough track" episodes because there's only so much limiter-bashing tyre spinning I can take, but I am happily watching every single Off Grid episode. It's like AuSolo with friends.

Thank you Graham and Crew for showcasing what is rarely advertiesed in Oz, It certainly is a land of contrasts but watching this episode with its magical red colours, strikingly beautiful against the green hues after the rain, just does something to this Old Aussie's soul. Starkly beautiful, amazingly striking, the landscape brings a sense of peace just looking at it! You all are out their alone and being part of nature, what a thrill. I am sure that scenes like this would put fear into the less faint hearted whom would dwell on the fact that you are far from a major town, but to me the more I see this sort of stuff, the more I want to share the experience with just myself, madness to do that of course, but the thought of being a speck of this awesome piece of dirt could be so overwhelming if you just didn't soak up that experience and let it filter into your unconscious self, this sort of journey may only happen once in your life, I hope I just that get that one chance to experience it all. Really enjoyed this video, my highlight in your series so far Graham, thanks mate. 😊

I think we can all confidently say that Mr cahill is the David Attenborough of Australian exploration! I love and appreciate the hard work the team, the guests and most importantly the passion graham has put into this series. I bought a GU patrol last year and it’s currently a tad broken (mostly because of its age, but also because of the length of the journeys i push it to take me on) I may be broke as heck currently but series like these keep me motivated to put my head down, Save the coin, Fix the patrol and get back out into the wildness and thrive. Thanks 4wd24/7 for keeping broke four wheel drivers like me determined on touring on a budget 😝

A great tip for when using the radios to check if things are clear is to state "Nothing heard" if no reply, as someone might have replied but for a reason you have not heard it, that way, they will hopefully know that there is a problem with comms and take according action. That one key might save an incident or a inconvenient reversing.

Mate 😎, hard to fathom but Hammersley George was my local swimming hole in 1983, while working in Tom Price. As you can imagine there wasn’t a single person to be seen in month in those days and we had the place all to ourselves. What memories 🥰, thanks for a great video 👏👏👏 Ps: I just wish I had a metal detector with me at the time 🥴 when I traveling the old railway track road to the coast which I did most weekends with a mate who went skydiving near Dampier. And wouldn’t you know it, just a few years back, someone found a few massive patches of good gold nuggets just 60k’s out of the main Hwy from Karatha. Bugger me, how nice that would have been aye 😉 Heading back to the Pilbara next year as I do every year when ever possible as the Country is just something else and holds a special place in my heart.

With all that equipment I’d imagine that some thought was given to entertainment, if trapped off grid somewhere. One thing many travellers give not enough thought to is entertainment for down times. People used to laugh at me for the amount of “сгар” I’d bring along … that is, until we got stranded due to floods, breakdowns, even civil unrest. Regardless of mode of transport, I always packed several off grid gizmos, that were economical with batteries 🔋. I’d take non tech stuff like a portable chess / checkers set, with a file of problems and games. A deck of cards. A windup radio. A couple of paperbacks 📚 to read. Still highly recommended is the Nintendo DS XL with game cards for chess; solitaire; scrabble; 100 classic books, etc. Along with an emergency power unit. Enough entertainment for months !!

Hi! Graham: Haven't watched you for a while. I like this new format where you've invited the women along. It seems to me too many city raised women can't put up with bouncy rough roads, the dust and dirt, let alone the mud. I think the program is more interesting with women sharing the off-road off-grid experience. Maybe more women will watch your program now. I've known a few women who absolutely refused to go off-road. One woman had a Toyota Rav4. I invited her to go along with me, each in our own vehicle, and see some of the sights you don't see from paved roads. She refused. I asked her how her Rav4 did off-road. She said she never goes off-road. I asked if her Rav4 does have 4wd? She said yes. But the way she described the 4wd instructions in the manual - and she ended saying it seemed that 4wd system should only be used in a life and death situation. I think she was afraid of a breakdown. I bought her dinner once. She drove. It was obvious she needed some coaching on how to drive (even in a parking lot), but I didn't say anything. Yet another day I offered to take her out in my 30 year old Jeep Cherokee and I'd show her some of what she was missing. She flat said she wasn't interested in going off-road. I never found out just what she was afraid of. Being attacked, getting lost, or breaking down. I used to watch you and Shawn on 4WD 24-7 a lot. But to me you tore up the land, your vehicles too much. And you were always close to a parts store. Not very close to real life. I hope having women on the show will cut down on that kind of stuff. Happy Thanksgiving!
