@@StagFiesta It's a bit weird how I managed to slip him in under the radar. When Rainbow Studios was looking for character concepts they were looking for that late-90s radical dude Mtv stuff so a lot of the character designs were archtypical for the era. I submitted around 34 concepts and Amman Ra was one of the first ones they latched onto...at the time, who ever heard of an Egyptian rapper? He was just so off-the-wall out there I don't think there was any way they could've ignored him.
"They aren't sponsoring the teams, they ARE the teams, that's so dystopian" haha, yeah, that'd never happen in real life... *looks at F1 and the rest of the international motorsport scene*
You know what makes this channel special? It's the fact Pan can a make a joke in which he calls SR-71 Bowling for Soup and his audience understands it. This is officially the scariest audience any RU-vidr has.
The way his videos are crafted (timing, tone, visuals, pacing, jokes, etc.) is just so satisfying. Easily one of the best creators on this site, at least to my taste.
A person with his RU-vid account name "aim", me and SaltyDkdan: we're seeing you in an unrelated video: we're seeing you again!!! Or I'm seeing you again!! Little Perlita from scribblejuice and TDR little Bridgette : sír why does your profile pic looks a lot like Wendy courdouroy from gravity falls, is she your waiftoon?
@@supertoddlemalrolllittlelu3192 Either English is not your first language you're using text this page or you talking about really weird. What's a waiftune?
@@nitrosherbert888 not sure, I'm was talking fanboy rubbish or just said it wierdly, I said that I'm seeing this guy again from an unrelated video also Waiftoon is a word to call your forgein animated 2d girls, OC's instead of calling them waifus because there not anime characters
I just realized that I would love an animated series about jet skiing. It could give you some great visuals and, unlike surfing, it's something you can actually do wherever there's water. That's why surf shows don't go anywhere. You can only surf on the coast and not everyone lives there. You can jet ski anywhere there's water.
The water in rachet and clank looked better than real water. Actually all ps2 water looked fine to swim in, maybe thats why they made lurker sharks to discourage us
i have no idea why but that montage of the KND just obliterating each other in a toobin river race combined with the commentary had me cackling aloud toobin battle royale is truly the game we deserve
@@alexmitchell2581 It mainly comes back to the ancient principle of "sex sells." Of course, there's such a thing as "oversaturation." Fan service can be decent when it's done right.
I’m glad someone cares about racing games like these. Along with futuristic racing games, this is another favorite subgenre of racing games. Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild was one of my favorite games as a kid - it literally feels like you’re in amusement park rides.
YES!!! I LOVE JetX20!! Vladi Zakharov (an unlockable) was my favorite character in that game. His dialogue was so funny with that accent. Also, hard to believe LeMouche is 7-feet-tall with a voice like that. 😂😂😂
Pan constantly proves himself my favorite content creator. This niche nonsense hits me with nostalgia by proxy. It makes me miss childhood all the more
Loving seeing all these good games doing Jet Skis justice. Last time I played a game with a Jet Ski was Uncharted 1 - IE the WORST way to have a jet ski level in history.
Oh man, I was originally gonna add a 30 sec segment where I talk about how terrible that stage is. But I was too exhausted with how much footage I already got.
This video is such a vibe. I've always had this weird nostalgia for beach-themed environments in video games, so seeing all the footage is like a steady stream of dopamine.
I think it would be really cool to get a real RebelTaxi Magazine of some kind. Even if it was just a one off or something, I'd really love to get the full experience. Maybe even pack in a "promo DVD" kinda thing that would be an homage to those same promos you'd get back in the day. I mean, this stuff was a little before my time, but I really love the aesthetic. Plus, having RebelTaxi graphic design on real pages that I can flip through and stuff. It would rock so hard man
You get my vide. No idea how I'd do that. But for moments like 11:17 I try to give my videos a Gamer Magazine asthetic. Show less footage and more concept art from the games.
I miss OG Xbox's music integration. The best was on the 3d GTA games where your music would be an option as a radio station. Yea you can just play spotify over / mixed in with the game audio now, but you used to be able to get in a car and turn to a station and it just starts playing your playlist!
I love that this starts with Splashdown. That is honestly one of my favorite games period. And the soundtrack is still playing in loops in my head even after all these years. Whenever I sit down and play that game no matter how old I am, it's like I took a trip back in time to my childhood. Nice to see Hydro Thunder on there as well. I spent many hours at the arcade playing that one.
you got me to lol (at that one Wave Race jump). Wave Race is one of the greatest things ever made. I love water physics in games, and drifting about in hover / float machines. There are DOZENS of us! Thanks for the vid, for real-
Dude I was just chillin until you showed that Jet Moto Tiger game. That unlocked a hidden memory deep in my brain. I didn't even realize it was based off a real game, but my brother had that tiger handheld growing up, and he wouldn't let me play it.
Pan, I've been watching your videos for over a decade now and I just can't ever get enough of your content. The fact that I discover songs/games/shows etc from your channel alone is freaking fantastic. Keep doing what you're doing, it's great to see how you've thrived on this platform all these years :)
Jet Moto was my favorite racing game growing up. I played it so much that I knew exactly how to manage choppy water in real life the first time I piloted a motorboat.
5:19 Haha, just like Mx vs Atv unleashed for ps2. Instead of the giant squid you just got yeeted after a cannon sound. First time I laughed so hard. XD
I loved Wave Race: Blue Storm on the Gamecube. The water and weather effects were amazing for its time and quite realistic. None of the other examples you used had the ability to change the weather and wave height like Blue Storm did. This genre revived with current hardware would be amazing. The PS5 controller could heighten the experience and the weather in Gran Turismo 7 show how realistic it could be.
I was addicted to Hydro Thunder as a kid at the arcade. The sound, the handling (using Razorback and being a kid, that wheel was actively fighting against you) and so forth. I'm surprised you didn't talk about the wackiness of boats boosters appearing (or even Tiny Tanic).
Damn Pan, you bring back memories I didn't even think I'd retain. Parent's taking me to the Carmike Cinema to watch Bridge to Terabithia 30 minutes early, and while they sat and ate popcorn in the lobby, me and my little brother were playing HydroThunder. It was one of only 2 arcade machines next to the men's restroom. The other being Gravity Hill. I'd always pick the UFO, but never won a single race. Also I'd loose the rubber balls from Gravity Hill before the movie was over.
Man this is a genre I haven't thought about in decades. It was really nice to see this pop up in my feed on the rare occasion I wake up at two am no pun intended ah who am I kidding
I know its not the entire game, but my favorite water racing was the Coco bandicoot water levels in the Crash bandicoot trilogy where she drives the jetski
the sequel of wave race has that amazing announcer easter egg nobody remembers lol i'm glad you made this video ! i remember playing hydro thunder on my n64 ! pretty cool game with a blue cart hehe take care, taxi dude
I was one of those people like "who actually cares?" Then when he showed the splashdown trailer i immediately got unironically pumped. I gotta play that.
These games remind me of the going to the theater as a kid, they always had arcade versions that my sister and me would play before the movie started. Arctic Thunder was a big one, too.
This videos scratched all my nostalgias! Rebel: That song! Nothing gets more 2000s than music by Bowling for Soup Me: That's New Found Glory... Merryweather: That is actually SR71 Rebel: Puts on New Found Glory Me: Now that's Bowling for Soup...wait...
What a terrifying world so many of these racing games take place in. I've never felt luckier to live in a world where jet skis and competitive watersports do not exist.
I’ve always love extreme sports when I was younger & hearing you talk about Jet Ski games are Awesome! And hey, those games might have a cult following. Riptide Was awesome! Thank You RebelTaxi for recommending this crazy game!
Thank you for this video Pan, something that you can only provide is the atmosphere and presentation of your style, as someone who’s watched this channel for close to a decade now, I’m glad you’re somehow always getting better
Never was really into jetski games untill I watched this video, cool to see that such a niche genre is still being kept alive to this day! Also Hikage is indeed best senran kagura girl, nice
I thought I was going insane when I saw the JetMoto song "Snow Blind" pop up but I heard the first level music from Twisted Metal 2. Then remembered they share the same studio! Thanks for leading me to this fun fact
I learned of Jet X2O from a small RU-vid channel that covers a bunch of forgotten early 2000s extreme sports games, called Insetik47. Fell in love with the game and wrote the only FAQ on it online. I really need to replay it..
The most ironic thing about Kandagawa Jet Girls is that the guy behind the Senran Kagura series left the company, because of Sony's interference (they had an upcoming PS exclusive entry on the works before the whole thing), so they formed another studio... Only to make this game WITH THE SAME COMPANY, first released on PS4, before PC.
Thank you for actually giving Kandagawa Jet Girls a chance- I think you've hit the nail on the head about its issues, while also complementing the good parts. I really have a weird fascination with that game; I think it's a shame what they did to nerf the difficulty, and of course, the dialing back of the ecchi-factor. The anime made it clear that the game could've been so much more, and I adore all of the characters. I really hope we get to see a sequel, where they can refine all the negative aspects of the game, so that it can be more well-balanced and therefore consistently fun.
Man, love the vibes from this video. We're going into the colder months and I was sorta missing the summer over the almost constant Vancouver rain. It really is true that video games with a summer/beach are so cozy because it's like going on a vacation lol
