@@trematathreat i think Indonesia is in the top lists for diabetes and obesity in the world. We eat rice daily which include sugar in it, that's rice only. Actually is not hard to find fat people here. In fact the world largest kid is from Indonesia he's name Arya becoming famous after some international media making report about him. We also using tons of cooking oil to make our food, which is unhealthy as well. Not mention many our men even kid are smokers too.
People in the Germany was baffled when I ate cheese sandwich mixed with choco sprinkle and condensed milk, imagine they go to Jakarta and eat the es campur
NAHH klo tentang manis2 tsb digabung, emang dahsyat dah org Indo. Sukanya yg manis2 bgt. Wkwkwk. Tpi Kita kan jarang2 makan gituan. Jadinya org Indo jrg yg kena diabetes
In fact only dutch people and Indonesians eat sandwich with choco sprinkles lol. padahal jerman tetanggaan sama belanda tapi mereka juga aneh klo liat org belanda makan roti pake meses 🤣
“Is the bread really for eating? I thought it was for moral support” 😂😂😂 you crack me up Sonny. Loved this episode! Just wished you’d eaten lychee. Hands down favorite thing I had when I visited Indonesia. I can’t find it where I live in the states unfortunately
you're so lucky!! I unfortunately live in a smaller, less diverse area in North Carolina so its hard to come across anything that's outside of Americanized Chinese food lol
@@mollymartin3059 I know there is a huge Asian market in Raleigh and also the same chain in Charlotte. Not sure which one you are closest too, but when I lived in a rural area in another state, the wife and I would just plan a day trip and bring an ice chest or two and load up on stuff. Most cities have at least one big Asian market or at least international market. Just get the ingredients and make things at home. That used to be the only way I could get real authentic ramen or other things I used to get in Japan, and a lot of times this stuff is better home cooked anyways, especially if you do the research and get the right ingredients. It's also fun to cook new things.
If u wanna visit Indonesia, just advice, u should visit 1. Jakarta 2. Yogyakarta, center of Javanese culture n u can see Buddha n Hindu temples (borobudur & prambanan) 3. Bali, 1 of the best tourism spot on the world n the only island in Indonesia that majority of people there are Hindu.
i love how enthusiastic and open minded he is about trying absolutely everything, and how happy he always is to rope in local strangers for taste tests and a shared laugh!
Oh yeah, Sonny is awesome! He doesn't take himself seriously at all and is clearly having the time of his life, and I am more than OK with that. I'm glad I subscribed to his channel and I also subscribed to @CupOfTJ and @WatchMyKimchi because of them appearing on this channel with him. (It can be safely said that I am *crazy* about T.J.)
Prepare for the abundant dose of air pollution and a lot of plastic trash along the roads. And the heat. Plus frustrating traffic jam. And be aware the surrounding. Jakarta is not like Japan. It's not one of the most safest place (low criminality) on earth. So.. I recommend u to not going alone. Like Sonny.. he brings his friends(cameramen, script maker, and some translator/tour guide) to his journey.
Yeah. That it's indonesia street food. Hope you will come back too glodok at evening, more delecious food at glodok (jakarta china town). You must try nasi ulam, sate padang, sop kaki sapi, gudeg, bakso, and much more.
1st time eating es campur: What the hell is this, bread? This doesn't belong here. It's all soggy. Bread is for sandwiches, not desserts. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 100th time eating es campur:...What the hell is this, bread?
Lowkey she doesn't knows or even care what is Gucci, a real one or fake, lol 😂 ..high chance it's just a look-cool-shirt, so she wears it just because she likes it. Real upper class Indonesian mostly support local brand, and choose Anne Avantie's haute couture in formal events rather than Gucci.
To put into perspective, I saw his first video doing reviews about 2 years ago and back then he had less than 5K subscribers. Now he's over 1million, talk about a blow up in popularity! Another food youtuber he did a collab with back in the days had about 50K subs vs his 5-7K subs, now that guy only has around 140K compared to Sonny's 1mil.
wow, congrats sonny! i've been watching your subscriber count climb up for months, so happy to see you hit a million! you deserve it, this is easily one of the most consistently entertaining, interesting, informative, funny channels on youtube. are you gonna do a celebration video?
I love how this channel does such a good job of trying to go for the food that locals really eat in the places they travel. It's exactly what I want to see in a Culinary Travel show. And another thing I like to see is how open most of the world is on what they eat, the textures, the flavors, the way they cook, I enjoy all of it. I've been cooking for over a decade now and I love seeing the techniques used elsewhere and one day I hope to use some of these techniques in my own place. I've seen aot of really ingenuous ways on this channel as lone, thanks Sonny and crew
I made those Banros Kelapa coconut cakes after watching this cause the ingredients looked so simple. They are so so easy to make, tastes like coconut rice if you smashed it into a pastry shape.
Glad that you got to try the green grass jelly. Like other Asian countries, we also love our black grass jelly, which is made from the leaves of Platostoma palustre. But the green grass jelly, made from the tropical plant Cyclea barbata, is an Indonesian specialty.
Just found this video because youtube recommended it, Indonesian street food? Oke click👍 I love this video and I really enjoy watching it😍 he described every single food very well (the ingredient, how it taste, his opinion) and not just about the reaction because of the food like some another youtuber. Well done👍 gonna subscribe it for sure
I like how you expose every layer, every parts of each place. Like there are comfort food, spicy food, even the sugar rush edition. I'm not a sweet tooth but I really enjoy watching this. Cheers man 🍻
hurray for 1M! lots of love from the Philippines "durian is like your good friend that smells, but he has a good personality, so you really don't say anything" hahahaha
These desserts have similarities with Vietnamese dessert. these appear everywhere, especially in the south of Vietnam. Way you depict food and show naturally stimulating mood once taking a bite is really intriguing. Spot on, guys!
Delicious foods, friendly people, affordable, lots of exotic foods and desserts everywhere. What else could be better than all these? Come again to Indonesia 👊
We used jackfruit at a restaurant I was at for a while and it's a good option for making things healthier or more vegan or vegetarian friendly. It's not strong so you can make it taste like whatever you want
I've been watching several videos of yours. And i love all the contents bcause it's not a common thing what foreign vlogger usually review here in Asian. Keep it up dude!
Chinese make a herbal jelly drink and it’s in a can. I bought it in a Asian store in Vancouver and it’s quite unique. I was told ‘herbal Jelly’ is good for you.
Your videos always manage to make me smile and laugh! I love your reviews and love how respectful you are. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Indonesia and hopefully you can taste every food we have because we have lots! Stay healthy, keep up the good work and may God bless you. Lots of love from Indonesia 💕🇮🇩
Are you sure it was cempedak and not just old plain jackfruit? I think the vendor lady would've corrected him if that was really the case. We (Indonesians) can be very anal about these things.
semuanya benar. Yang pertama dimakan Sonny itu cempedak, kelihatan teksturnya lebih tebal. Kalau gorengan nangka yang dia makan pakai alas tisu dan agak pipih, pas disobek langsung ada serat-seratnya.
you just see a small part of indonesian street food.. you came early morning then you'll find a different food...and you came at the night then you'll find different from the morning and afternoon.. indonesia have street food different section at the morning, afternoon and at night..
