We are in Georgia and things are getting strange! We are visiting Stranger Things locations from Season 2 and 3. We visit Palace Arcade, Hawkins Middle School, and the Starcourt Mall (Gwinnett Place Mall Duluth, Georgia) ! We have visited Stranger Things locations in the past (before we made videos) like Hawkins Middle School, but this time we actually get to see the Hawkins sign painted on the building! The new season of Stranger Things comes out July 4th, so we thought it would be an awesome time to find new locations and take in one of our favorite shows! Come along with us!
Parking: Depends the location.
Worth a Visit: If you enjoy Stranger Things, it is always fun to visit locations from your favorite show and/or movies. Most of the locations that we have visited from Stranger Things have not been an issue. We do caution visiting the mall location as there is a (not so nice) security guard on the lower level of the filming area and you will quickly get booted from the mall if they think you are “sneaking around.” There have been content creators that have broken the rules of “no filming” and “do not go past this point,” so we understand their frustrations. Stranger Things filming locations are throughout Georgia.

So I caved and finally watched Stranger Things and immediately came to check out your video!! The mall looks so sick, they could totally turn it into some kind of 80s time capsule mall or something! It would be wicked popular! Can’t believe they kicked you out 🙄 it always passes me off when security guards act like your some kind of criminal, I get they literally have nothing else better to do but come on relax a little 😂

Yup July 4th! We didn’t know when this would come out so we just filmed it like that. We figured we’d post it the week it came out but we were early! Haha. Ok nice! We haven’t checked to PO Box in awhile so we will head over this weekend! 😜

Nice, Thank you! Still trying to find the sweet spot. It helps when we aren’t rushed while filming and can do a few takes to iron out what we say. We felt rushed at the Mall but the footage outside helped to minimize that feeling in the that part of the video. 🤘

This is awesome! But honestly, one thing i have noticed from alllll of the Stranger things location videos here on youtube is.... most of the places havent just been vacated, most have been completely ripped down inside, like interiors destroyed, outside redone or returned to normal, sold on to new companies. Also, Most of the buildings have been put back up for sale this time. They wasnt before, they were kept by the production company, so they could use them however they want whenever they want. Even two of the houses that the kids and families lived in have gone up for sale to actual residents now :( As a filmmaker myself who has worked on a few Okish size projects, I can tell you know, consistency, set design, continuity, are all massive MASSIVELY important. Sorry to say it but If there is a series 4 then it highly likely wont feature the lab, starcourt, the arcade, the school, which lets face it... is all the places we have come to love! I dont think there will be a ST series 4!

Hey thanks for watching! And for leaving a freaking great comment! All of your points make sense. But a few things to think about. Netflix doesn’t have to money of larger studios, one of the reasons they picked the small towns to film in. And what if season 4 doesn’t feature Hawkins at all? What if they go to Russia is some wired upside down portal? The location for Hawkins lab was only used for exteriors and the little bit of the hallway scene where Bob gets killed in S2. Those epic interiors of equipment and the upside down are on a sound stage. What if they have enough B Roll of the outsides of the buildings they don’t need to use them anymore? Are the interiors of the houses they show filmed at the actual house locations? Most likely not. Hop’s cabin in S3 is a real cabin. They do escape rooms there but it was only used for exterior shots and the inside looks nothing like what they show. All of the interior stuff was a sound stage.

I graduated from Patrick Henry highschool (Hawkins middle school) back in 2014. The the Tiger is the mascot for the town and its cool that they kept that in. Patrick Henry was a alternative school for the bad kids.

I love to visit film locations! You always seem to have so much fun in all of your videos. Watching your videos keeps a smile on my face. Since you are in Georgia are you going back to any of TWD locations. Have you ever been to Wounded Knee? That would be an interesting place to go (but sad).

It’s the best when they look similar too! 😜 We are doing a TWD video as well. It’s going to be season 9 locations. Most likely that one will come out end of July or August sometime. We haven’t been to Wounded Knee yet but South Dakota is on our to get back to.

I'm sure everyone was psyched out to see him as if he came from the future or something, just like that series Dark on Netflix; it's an "adult" version of Stranger Things by the way if you haven't seen it already. It's a hidden gem that no one really knows exists on Netflix because it's from Germany. You should watch it. It's really good. Netflix is working on filming season 3 for it.

The arcade was gutted inside after season 2, but it was shown from the outside at the end of season 3 when they went into family video. I wonder if they rebuilt the interior or just used the exterior? All you can see in the show are some neon signs in the windows.

Gwinett Place mall is a little sensitive about people poking around taking pictures but I think that has to do more with the very real dead body that was dumped in the back of the food court last year than the filming.

Danny we had read that the mall wasn’t doing well before we visited. But that makes sense. Hopefully they can embrace the show and offer something to fans when everything wraps up there. A photo op or set used items (like the back to the future mall) something like that might give it a little boost.
