This was the final song at my brother's funeral. I had to put all of my pain and tears away....stuff it down and handle everything because my mom was so locked away in her pain of loss. I did everything and didn't falter ...until the final song....this one. That's when it all broke free for me.

I lost a great friend of mine. He was such a huge fan of SYL and introduced me to them over 10 years ago. I can’t listen to this song without getting emotional, because it reminds me of all the times we road together jamming to them. Or just sitting at his house, or hanging in the car taking about work/life. Almost always with SYL in the background. I miss you man.

I have never a song that mixes beautiful, sweeping melody with crushing destructive metal as perfectly and profoundly as this one . Devin Townsend and SYL is in a league all their own.

I had my first taste of what Devin's capable of when he held his own in the company of giants like Vai, Stevens and Bozzio in '93... got over that album at the time, and never looked up on SYL really Lately been blown away by The Mars Volta for all reasons that they stand for... an outstanding band by all measures. Then I discovered this last night.. and so much more by SYL... This clearly blows away and shatters to smithereens anything I've heard before... Respect

Just my thoughts, but this feels as though it was inspired by the 1927 silent film "Metropolis". We see what appears to be the creation of a mechanized human, in the form of a woman, which is appropriately fitting seeing as how a woman represents the birth of life. It seems that the machine was abandoned before completion, whether it was disposed of on purpose, or perhaps its creators passed away in a conflict, we don't know. Now, we learn that the machine is self-aware and confused about its predicament. Then, either through it's own devices or through a program, it discovers and learns about all of man's atrocities visited upon himself. We can surmise that the machine appears conflicted by its discovery of mans self-destructive nature, which seems to cause the machine to destroy itself.

I never get tired of this song... So great and genius Devin is... Love his musoc...

Truly amazing work. Such an underrated band. And as for the audio, its perfect. That super bassy distortion you hear at times is part of the wall of sound. Its supposed to rocket your obliterated brain matter into complete oblivion, assisted by the intense currents and brutal undertow of the voice of a god among men.
