A bit surprised when speaking to bracelet design you didn’t mention the IWC bracelet on their MARK XVIII. It incorporates all the advanced features you mentioned, micro adjust, no external pins or screws, and incredible comfort for its many pivot points along with a compact and beautifully detailed clasp. A superlative watch with comfort rivaling, perhaps surpassing, the day-date bracelet and my everyday extremely versatile watch. Only thing missing is the quick detach method, now that’d be fantastic as the MARK XVIII is a strap magnet. Thanks for a professional and educational presentation!!! Cheers.

Phafanapolis correct my friend, would not have bought the Mark XVIII if I didn’t like it, so yes a fan. Marketing regurgitation? Well no, they are my own thoughts based on ownership/comparison and the ability to actually form real thoughts and express them. Cheers.

@alex_inside

Hollow are light and cheap but they can bend and rattle. Solid are stiff and heavy but they expensive and hard to get on the watch since they are perfectly fitted.

Mike, are you sure those leather strap with rubber on the inside can go in the water? Wouldn't the leather get exposed to saltwater too?

Bump this question. I was thinking of getting a gator strap with a rubber lining from Blancpain but opted against it because I heard the water will break down the gator leather.

Blancpain X71 vs Rolex Oyster?
@BenTramer
@BenTramer 5 лет назад
The X71 (I own this piece) should be more comfortable due to the smaller outer links. You'll notice the polished smaller outer links that fit between the larger brushed center links allow the X71 to provide a more supple fit on the wrist where the Oyster has large center links paired with medium outer links. I don't know which is tougher. The X71 has extremely tight tolerances (note the interlocking outer links). Both are fitted with screw fixed links. I prefer the security of the X71 double deployant requiring double positive pressure to release the clasp to the Rolex's hook-and-beak with clamshell. I don't own a Rolex so I can't say which bracelets components are thicker/more substantial (for example the thickness of the thin bracelet components on the Royal Oak 15202 vs the more substantial components on the 15400).
@bokai5829
@bokai5829 5 лет назад
@@BenTramer Thanks for the juicy answer Mark! If you don't mind, what is the ownership experience of owning a Blancpain? I am considering a Leman Flyback. However, I am concerned about the notoriously thin f.piguet 1185 movement in the Leman flyback. Any advice is appreciated!
@BenTramer
@BenTramer 5 лет назад
@@bokai5829 No problem. As far as ownership experience, I bought pre-owned but have used the Boutique (New York City) to service the watch. The Boutique has been awesome and treats me well even though I didn't buy a new timepiece from them. They're great on emails and even personally delivered my watch to my office after the service because I couldn't leave work before the Boutique closed the day before a big business trip + anniversary out of town. I certainly feel like part of the 'Blancpain family'. I do recommend the Leman Flyback. That is the timepiece I own. Make sure you know which variant you want. The 2185 or the 2885. Within each there are many variants that are worth learning about the distinctions between them before you make your final choice. I have had no problem with the 69F8 movement (which is a variant of the F185 which is a variant of the Piguet 1185) in my watch (2885-1130-71). The 69F8 comes with a Grande Date which makes the calibre 7mm thick which may add toughness vs. the F185 (5.5mm thick) in the 2185...it should be noted most "ultra thin" movements are like 3mm thick. Both have a free sprung balance which adds toughness also. It's main weakness is the 1/2 balance bridge vs. a full bridge. However, in my personal experience using the watch as a daily driver (the watch gets bumped from time to time, I may jog across a street, etc.) the movement has held up well with no failure or loss of timing regulation. I hope that helps.
@BenTramer
@BenTramer 5 лет назад
Keep in mind the 1315 in the Fifty Fathoms does not even come with a full bridge...to my knowledge Blancpain has no full bridge watches.
@bokai5829
@bokai5829 5 лет назад
@@BenTramer That is some proper customer service! Regarding the different variants, I am looking at a 2185F variant and a 2185 variant. Both have the same look and have the same description. What's the difference??? Where can I find more info?

When wearing a metal braclet, wouldn't that attract and bring more EMF into your body?
@ElijsDima
@ElijsDima 5 лет назад
Broadband EMF would not be attracted that easily, but the government emitted narrowband control signals would get amplified for sure. Better to pad the inside of the bracelet (between it and your skin) with a faraday cage mesh to isolate any EMF from it.
