We visit the place where Shakespeare was born and lived - Stratford Upon Avon in the UK.
Where did Shakespeare live and where is Shakespeare buried?
Stratford-upon-Avon is the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and is traditionally known for being the home of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Stratford-upon-Avon is a market town and civil parish in the county of Warwickshire, England, on the River Avon, 101 miles (162 km) northwest of London, 22 miles (35 km) southeast of Birmingham, and 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Warwick.
The town is a popular tourist destination, with numerous historic buildings, a beautiful countryside setting, and a rich cultural heritage. The town center is home to a number of historic buildings, including the half-timbered Tudor houses on Henley Street, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and the Shakespeare Family Homes. Other notable buildings in the town include the medieval Holy Trinity Church, where Shakespeare is buried, and the 15th-century Guild Chapel.
The town is also home to a number of museums and galleries, including the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, which includes the Shakespeare Centre and the Shakespeare Birthplace, as well as the Shakespeare Institute, the Stratford-upon-Avon Art Gallery, and the Swan Theatre. There are also several parks and gardens in the town, including the Bancroft Gardens, the Memorial Gardens, and the Avon Bank Gardens.
In addition to its cultural and historical attractions, Stratford-upon-Avon is also a thriving market town, with a weekly market held on Wednesday and Saturday, and a monthly farmers' market held on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. The town is also home to a number of shops, restaurants, and pubs, as well as a number of annual festivals and events, including the Stratford Literary Festival, the Stratford Food Festival, and the Stratford-upon-Avon Shakespeare Festival.
Where was Shakespeare born?
William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, a market town in the county of Warwickshire, England. He was born in a half-timbered house on Henley Street, which is now preserved as the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. The house, which was built in the 15th century, is open to the public and contains exhibits about the life and works of Shakespeare. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Stratford-upon-Avon and is an important part of the town's cultural heritage.

Yes it was definitely there. When I went to William Shakespere’s I fond it amazing, the one thing that stuck out tome was the low ceilings. Spent a week here in 2019 and found the city absolutely beautiful! Have a great day from America 🇺🇸!

Another interesting video, thank you very much. I am curious though, why do we refer to the town as Stratford-upon-Avon but on Elizabeth House it just calls the town Stratford on Avon.

Good question Roy I never know the little dashes between words or where and when they're applicable or why - it's a mystery to me always!

@@GimbalWalkTV There are two local Government Stratford districts at play. In England we have mostly a 3 tier system of local democracy. Town or Parish Council. Borough or District Council. And County Council. Stratford upon Avon covers just the town, there is a Town Council with distinct responsibilities. Its HQ is the Town Hall, just past New Place. Separately, there is the District of Stratford on Avon, which covers a much, much larger area, a District of the County of Warwickshire, it`s HQ is Elizabeth House.

This is where I really wanted you to video Neil😊I've always wanted to see what Stafford on Avon. Just wondering have you any idea what the cost of living is like there?
@joline2730
@joline2730 Год назад
Bex: Here in the UK 🇬🇧 the cost of living is the same everywhere! I have been all over the UK including Scotland, Wales and all the Islands except The Isle of Man, and it costs the same for a pint of milk, or a loaf of bread everywhere I have been. All the supermarkets charge the same be it a small town or large. However, the difference in house prices and rental accommodation can be phenomenal !! Prices in London are extremely high (£6+ million in the best areas) down to just £30,000 in Wales or North East England. Hope you find this useful.

@@joline2730 I thinking of moving to a new location so that's what I was thinking. The east of England does seem cheap if you have any idea of the cheapest place to move to in East of England or any where in the UK any advice would be most welcome?
@joline2730
@joline2730 Год назад
@@IvoryWhites I live in County Durham, North East UK. I'm selling a house at the minute ‼️ I suggest you do what I did when looking to re-locate (I came up from London) and that is to spend hours upon hours checking each county individally to see what you can get for your money. I went to North West first (Staffordshire) but houses in the North East were half the price, so I moved across to County Durham. My advice is Don't buy a flat, rather go for a small house if you want to down-size. Good luck and HNY 🎄🎅🎄🎅

@@joline2730 right thanks Joline I'm disabled & can't drive I also have no support so I'd have to do research on-line but I don't know anything about different areas in Durham so to be honest I don't know where to start Also I could do with locating to somewhere warmer than up North where I am currently.
