Thx I appreciate it, but I too was a bit behind schedule when I built the 2nd half. My kids were in NICU and it was starting to rain so the roof had to go on quick after a few nights of tarps. I recently added 3 rows of 2x4 shelves and it made such a difference in storage.

How has it help up over the years? Looks like it could be strengthened by using extra 2x4's for joist and extra 2x3's for studs and some extra trim boards around the back. For a 2x3 walled shed, it doesn't look too bad. I get a lot of wind where I am and not for sues of this will work or not, assuming you can still get one.
@lanceoa

It looks pretty good. Wind isn’t terrible here, but yes upping the frame to 2x4s would certainly strengthen this. But still looks good today.

Excellent summary. Couple questions, did they offload with their own forklift or did you provide the forklift? Does the kit come with all the required nails, screws, and other small stuff? Can the specified floor be purchased as a kit and delivered? all that lumber is a bit much for my car roof. thanks in advance. Friend and I wanting to install one of these behind our place, we chose installation by Lowes but had to cancel because three feet clearance is required. Space we have it will be a foot within a common fence. So we are thinking of doing it ourselves (will take longer but this model of shed is perfect for our needs). We probably need to assemble back wall a little different, i.e. fasten to floor then push entire floor assembly into final position for remaining walls and roof. Nah, don't bother making it pretty inside. When you're busy doing stuff, that's what sheds are for to contain items out of the elements.
@lanceoa
@lanceoa 5 лет назад
If I recall it came on a flatbed truck that they were able to tilt and Lower the bed... Just order 3 sheets of tongue groove MDF plywood 4x8 gets you a 12 x 8 floor, put it in the same order so just one charge! It comes with nails but I opted to secure with wood screws as I’m more comfortable not splitting the wood and not bending over nails (as an occasional DIYer). You’ll also have to get your own paint, roof paper, shingles, and drip edge, oh and don’t forget caulk. Also I haven’t done it yet but it could use some vents. Either a cable vent or you could fit some small ones under the eave. I have just been leaving the window open but it still warms up the top half of the space, lucky the rain has only come in from the other direction. Give in what I know now, I will opt to pour a big slab for my next house. Moving mine the way I founded it would be tough with do it yourself methods. On a slab you would be able to jack it up easily and roll it to another location on some nice 4-6” circular poles or pvc. Put in more shelves and hooks 👍🏼. Thanks for watching and force be with you. I had mine half built then my twins were born, in NICU for 3 weeks and it also rained half that time. So I got the roof on just in time!

@lanceoa
@lanceoa 6 лет назад
Breana Haselbarth if I had to do it over, I would buy it from HomeDepot with their installation/assembly. I had my twins in the NiCU while I finished this in between the rain 🌧. I bought extra framing for the base- they assume you will install in on top of concrete. I also bought extra screws since I am OCD and like the solidarity of screw construction on the frame. Paint is not included and roofing is not included, as well as the roofing paper and drip edge is an additional expense. It was a fun project (except the roofing - not fun), good experience, but I think I broke even versus buying an assembled version. If you want to bond over it, go for it!

I won’t lie. It wasn’t easy to do the roof. Otherwise it was quite simple, level, tape measure. Given the opportunity I would do it again, but try a nice metal roof. Asphalt roof tiles not fun. I only needed a second person to stand the walls up. Don’t do this in the heat

@lanceoa
@lanceoa 4 года назад
Yeah nails are included, I bought more deck screws as I feel more comfortable with screws than nails. Of yes and drip edge must be purchased, but that’s fairly cheap. Clamps and wood glue helped me keep the roof trusses uniform. It would be nice if they included a vent for hot air release, but I just keep that window open.

Hey! I have a really specific and kind of odd question regarding this particular shed. Would you mind answering? I'm looking to put a booth inside of this shed that's 5.5ft wide, 4.5ft deep and 7.3ft tall. I'm wondering if this would in fact fit inside of this shed given the depth and length the height would have to stay at and the ceiling being curved down. I hope this makes sense...feel free to private message me about this as well I know it's a really specific question! Thank you so much for your time!

Counting the wardrobe changes it looks like it took you at least 8 days to build. How much do you think you could've cut down the time by using a pneumatic framing nailer?
@lanceoa
@lanceoa 6 лет назад
Jason Tremper probably shave at least half of nailing time.. maybe 8 hours of pounding, 6” edge nailing on walls and roof plus rooofing. My kids (twins) were in the NICU at the end of it, so I was running back and forth trying to finish before the weather moved back in! Aside from standing up the walls, I did it all on my own, first time roofing. Also I used a lot of screws for the framing versus nailing so that dragged it out

nadjam123 I worked off and on after work and weekends so hard to put a time on it. Plus it rained and we tarred it, then my kids were born and I had to put it into overdrive while they were in NICU. Paint unassembled is a good idea, but you’ll have to go back. Over the screws/nail holes also... and some caulking duties too... the roof was the worse part... that took a solid 5hrs. I did it all alone except when I had my brother in law hold up the walls... so a very DIY friendly job

I actually made some shelves out of some 2x4s and light plywood. Loft storage wouldn’t be too possible as there isn’t much above the roof trusses. A barn style shed would have lots of loft storage

Tough to say... I only had help on one day to standup the walls while I nailed them in. Put it this way, with a concrete slab to place it on. Two workers could put it together in a full day if they had all the materials on hand. I am a weekend warrior so add many days at 4 hours
