Very helpful and much appreciated since I am in the process of planning my Glastar with the same equipment.

How is the readability on that size screen? I can make the larger 10.1” size fit in my panel but the price point on that one isn’t as good. Do you wish your unit was a little bigger for easier viewing?

I'm very satisfied with screen size, understand it is super easy (those middle soft keys) to toggle between full map view (which also has speed & alt tapes overlaid), full PFD view, and then multiple combinations of with and without the engine monitoring info. I think if you wanted all the info up simultaneously and never changed the screen views, then maybe the 10.1 would be a good choice. Or the six pack overlay view of the 10.1 if that appeals to you, which is not a display option on 7". I find I'm going between the split PFD / Map view, and the full Map view, and not using engine monitoring, and have no issues with scale and readability. I've flown a few more hours over last weeks and corrected the Stratux setting so my tail does not display 'nearby traffic', it sure is nice to have that warning pop up when within 2 miles of another aircraft, such as entering a pattern and not yet having visual on others. If you have room for two 7" I think that would be ultimate set up, redundancy and could dedicate one to engine monitoring, or go with the 7 plus a mini dedicated for engine monitoring and that would be redundant EFIS as well. I was considering going with Garmin G5, the GRT mini, Dynon various sizes, and very limited with unique panel footprint. The slightly narrower vertical size of this allows me to keep steam gages as back up, so the GRT Sport checked all the boxes, and to have all these capabilities for this price point I'm thrilled. Screen goes from super bright to dim, absolutely love it.

I would have used a 6 to 7 foot USB cable and continued using the old USB GPS dongle. It would require a small case, which shouldn't be a problem.

on the GRT website they have a Image file for Raspberry Pi 3 that provides serial output, no update files, where can I get the update file

Hi Trueflite, I don't want to assume what you're looking at / saying here. The file name is "update-stratux-tu-s9.sh", if that's the update file name you're seeing that is it. If not, I'd suggest contacting Jeff at GRT and he'll email it to you. Please subscribe to my channel (if you've not already), lots of more good videos in the works soon. Regards, Darrell

@@darrellwitham832 , I did get a reply from Jeff and he said to use the latest official stratux image, + the TU-S9 update script. My question now is if the new slimmer profile version of the trendnet TU-S9 will work.

@@aeromatt Sounds like you're on the way here, I'm still running the TU-S9 as shown in this video. The good news is these are $10 items, and the old version can be found on Ebay - just searched one a moment ago.

still didn't see how you connect to GRT display

The wires from Stratux attach directly (with in line connector) to the serial connection port 1 on back side of GRT. Any unused serial 'IN' can be connect to, just like autopilot, secondary GPS feed, or other data cables.
