Some other tips: - if you star a segment it will show up on your wahoo in real time and tell you how far ahead / behind you are. Probably similar on Garmin. - Strava introduce a new feature in the app recently that will show you segments that you're close to top-10ing on and will actually give you your estimated time. Helped me find potential segments at first as I didn't think I was strong enough for any in my area and never even tried until I saw this. - I found that KOM hunting the day before a race as openers worked well for me. Couple short sub 1-minute segments and a longer 5-10 minute segment worked well as openers for me. Was fun to plan a route around it. I have my eye on one segment that is about an 8 min long climb. I missed it by exactly 3 seconds twice! I have it starred now so it will show up on my wahoo next time 😊
Did an effort today on a 3 mile climb, knew based on my previous effort I had gotten it. Realized the segment ended well past summit, and started .3 miles after the climb started. I made a new segment to fix those problems and needless to say the leaderboard makes much more sense now. 📈
