We made a garden with some old hay bales. It was so easy. Put the bales outside in the fall along a wire fence boarder. They got rain and snow all winter. In the spring the hay bales were soft. We reached inside and pushed the potatoes down towards the bottom. We added some compost into the hole in the bale to inoculate with beneficial microbes. We kept the bales moist by watering them when it got dry. The potatoe plants emerged and grew on their own. This is literally all the work involved until harvest. You can see the amazing results.
