they had to audition to get into the company. the group tho was formed through a survival show by JYP (their company). basically it’s an elimination show. bang chan (the leader) hand picked the members which is very rarely done in kpop. then they had to prove themselves so they didn’t get eliminated which meant they wouldn’t debut. 2 members (lee know and felix) actually got eliminated. lee know was eliminated bc he was very talented in dancing but weak in vocals and rap. felix got eliminated bc he’s originally from australia so he knew the very basics of korean and while he was strong in other areas, his lack of korean got him eliminated. but eventually they both got brought back for a second chance and they all debuted together. originally the group had 9 members but no one talks about the ex member. something happened and he left for personal reasons and a scandal (which was proven false). if you want to get more into stray kids and learn more about them then i suggest watching a stray kids guide! i recommend the 2023 one by teanosuga. it’s long but very detailed and has some great facts about each member and the group as a whole. btw there are some spoilers for music but it’s not that long of spoilers

They have been doing this since they were 16 to 20. 6 years later they are still just 22 to 26 and over 175 songs strong (released) but we all know they have many more than that. BANG CHAN (CHRIS) Australian, leader and genius just turned 26 in October. He has over 165 songs registered with KOMCA, and is ranked 1st for 4th gen and 9th overall. He left Australia and his family when he was just 13 to pursue his dream, that is half a lifetime ago for him. He is the reason we have STRAY KIDS. He chose all the members, he chose the group name, the fandom name even the logo is his handwriting. Everything is his decision, he has full control. LEE KNOW born in Korea was born to dance. Has been dancing since very young. Was in a dance crew for 6 years, competed at the World of Dance in 2016, back up dancer for BTS. Completed the basic dance course at JYP in a record 2 weeks. National Geographic super star. 😅 He is just 25 in October. CHANGBIN, a rapping giant. Korean. Was the fastest 4th gen rapper until recently at 9.75 syllables per second with his collab Mirror Mirror with Millie and F HERO. Singing voice of an angel. His vocal coach suggested he try out rapping due to his vocal tone and a genius was created. Flow switches, cadences.... unbelievable. He has over 140 songs registered with KOMCA, which puts him right behind Channie. Face of SAMSUNG in Korea. He just turned 24 in August. HAN. Born in Korea but grew up in Malaysia. He is the ACE of K-pop. He doesn't just RAP, SING, DANCE WRITE and PRODUCE, he excels at it all. Very funny, empathetic and a genius. He is not far behind Binnie at 9.13 syllables per second but man, what he can do is simply amazing. He also has just over 135 songs with KOMCA making him 3rd behind the other 2. He just turned 23. CHAN, CHANGBIN and HAN are the producing team. They are known as 3RACHA. They have songs in their own right as 3RACHA away from Stray Kids. They were the foundation of the group. HYUNJIN born in Korea. He was street casted by a scout whilst shopping with his mother just for the way he looked. He had no skills at the time. He has grown into a monster performer. I love his style of RAP. His singing is developing beautifully and he is the 1st prince of K-pop for visuals and dance. He moves like water, fluidly. He is also a LLAMA, drama llama, but we love him for it 😅 Versace Global Ambassador. He just turned 23 in March. FELIX, Australian, always loved to dance. Moved to Korea by himself when he was 17 without knowing Korean. He is the deep voice and our Sunshine. He is regularly found rapping on the tracks but lately has more singing parts. His range goes from low to high and is known for beat boxing and being the most non-annoying mosquito. 😅 Louis Vitton House Ambassador. He turned 23 the day after HAN. We call them our sunshine twins. SEUNGMIN, Korean. Has the most unique vocal tone. Very serious/diligent artist, always strives for improvement and just when you think he's the best he can be he surprises us again. Has several OSTs for K DRAMAS and is my favourite singer in the group. He also just turned 23. I.N. (YANG JEONG-IN) Korean. The MAKNAE (Youngest) of the group. Funnily enough probably the most mature, lol. He also has a unique vocal tone, very expressive with stage presence, can eat a whole ass pizza slice in one bite, 😅 Loves TROT music and is simply adorable. He turned 22 in February. All the members can sing, dance, RAP and write songs. Along with 3RACHA some members are also learning production skills. That is my intro to my boys. For further details I suggest you watch TEANOSUGAR 2023. It's long but STAYS will sit through it with you. We LOVE watching a new STAY being born and we are very proud of our boys. ❤

If you want to react to their guide I would recommend you "stray kids 2023 guide " by channel "minihao". It is not the most recent one but for new stays it is the best guide because it is very non boring and straight to the point. Also it covers all the members talents in all fields like rapping, singing and dancing. It has less spoilers too. And covers all members equally because a lot of guides just ignore some members.And theres not much text to read, just clips to follow along unlike other guides, so you wont fall asleep.

Lol yeah, there are a few ways to get to know Stray Kids. Obviously their music videos are a good place to start but it's a little hard to say which song to begin with since this new album is kind of reminiscent of their older music but has the maturity of a new album. I dunno if that makes sense haha. Here are a few song recommendations just to give you an idea of their style: 2017 - Hellevator 2018 - District 9 - My Pace 2019 - Miroh - Side Effects 2020 - God's Menu - Blueprint 2021 - Domino - Secret Secret 2022 - Freeze - Case 143 2023 - The Sound (Japanese version) - S-class I think this is an alright sample of their music but it's a little hard to choose since they have so many different songs and genres. Don't feel pressured about this list either, there's no right way to discover music 😊 Otherwise, I totally encourage watching funny moments or compilations of the members cause they're actually hilarious and their ability to play off each other's humour is what made me a stay. Don't worry about catching all the inside jokes either, they did a livestream yesterday and they were referencing things from five/six years ago. Stays love watching any length videos. It's hard to have a bias in stray kids. They are all so full of personality. Please react to it. I also suggest a 20 min 2023 the rise of Stray Kids guide by Johnathan Miller Music. It also explains how stray kids was started their rise to fame. He tells a little about each member, including how to pronounce each members name, about JYP and kpop in general. Good info in 20 min. 8 members in stray kids, debut with 9 members on March 25th 2018. Woojin left the group in 2019 for personal reasons. In K-pop, companies do hold auditions all over the world for possible kpop idols. But they also have scouts who find people. Each entertainment company has their own way of recruiting potential talents. Felix and Bang Chang are from Australia and auditioned. BangChan auditioned when he was 13 years old and trained for 7 years before debuting. Seungmin won a JYP talent singing competition. Hyunjin was approached by a JYP scout while shopping with his mother. They liked his visuals. Han auditioned at the company.
