The guide doesn't really talk about this, but Seungmin really grew over time as a vocalist. He always had a very pleasant tone and a good sense of pitch, but he was only lead vocalist when they debuted, because he lacked a bit in terms of technique. However after Woojin left, he decided to take the main vocalist mantle, and started to take vocal lessons outside of JYPE. His coach basically taught him to sing from scratch again, so it took a while, but after a coupe of years the result was pretty outstanding. He still takes vocal lessons btw, and I.N. and Lee Know now are seeing the same coach, and IMO it really shows in their latest releases.
I didn't know this! Is this why I.N. and Lee Know are getting more prominent than they used to be? I mean, they've always been great, but they've really been getting a lot more time since 5 star, and you can tell that there is a difference.
You kinda right that there are not the best moments of his vocals and rap too. He is actually crazy vocalist that can also rap and dance very good but people underestimate him
These guides are biased. They choose amazing clips for their favs and some members are sort of an afterthought unfortunately. These are not his best vocals for sure.
It's not that Chan picked Hannie first (the wording could have been misleading). It's that he met him first, because Han was the second one to join the company. In order of joining JYP: Chan trained for 7 years, Han trained for 3 years. I.N trained for 2 years. Hyunjin also for 2 years but joined later, Changbin also 2 years but joined after I.N and Hyunjin, Seungmin for 1 year, Felix for 1 year but joined after Seungmin, and finally Lee Know trained only for only few weeks/months. When the company told Chan he could make his own team he picked them out of the trainees (there is no order of being picked although he built it around 3racha which had already existed, also created naturally without company's influence) and started preparing with them for the survival show to prove they could debut without being put together and planned by the company itself. We call Han Chan's first kid because they have known each other the longest. Chan spent a lot of time training with members of Got7, Day6 and Twice (all debuted before him) and so many trainees he was close to kept leaving the company or being dropped by the company. Chan said there was even time when he was the only trainee at the company for a few months (not to mention he was living in the dorms since age 13, his whole family lives in Australia, so it must have been very difficult making friends and constantly losing them) and he told himself he would never get close to the other trainees again because it was really hard seeing them leave. But Han's personality is really in your face, so Chan couldn't resist befriending him for long.😅🥰 Plus it must have reassuring seeing as Han was a natural, so he would have a huge chance of staying and debuting with him. That wasn't the case for everyone. For example I.N who was from Busan only attended the weekend trainee program (he only joined the full one and moved to Seoul after turning 16) and Chan used to stay behind with him on Sunday and teach him dancing so that he would be able to make it and debut with him. Sorry about this being so long.😅 There are so many background stories, which they slowly revealed to us through the years. This comment was just a little taste and it's still so long.🫣
One correction - Chan joined JYPe when he was 13 but moved to Korea when he was 15 so he spent "only" 5 years in the dorms. We don't know if he was referring to korean or australian years when he said 15 but he clearly said 15 so even in korean years it would be 6years of dorm life.
@@von1glik you could see that when Eric Nam said "you were what.. 15?" he was guessing and Chan was thinking about the answer and finally said yes talking about Korean age, while Lix said his in international age. Chan passed the audition which took place in 2010 and moved to Korea in April 2011, so he was still 13 (until October) in international age but in Korean age he was 15, because you are not only 1 year older but you also add one year after Lunar new year (not after your birthday). In January 2011 he was 13 in international and 14 in Korean age but in April the Lunar New Year had passed so he was 15 in Korean age. That's why you could have 2-year-old babies who were actually only a few days old because they were born right before Lunar New Year and turned two right away. He was 19 during the survival show, which adds up too. But yes, counting the months exactly, by the survival show he would have been at the dorms for about 6.3 years. He said it was his 7th year as a trainee and it was written as his 7th year in the dorms, so we are all used to saying he trained for 7 years...which is kinda correct because they didn't debut until the following year. I think we are both technically correct depending on how you look at it.😅 If we were worried about the wording they still live in dorms now so it has been what 13+ years?🤣

Mate, seungmin is my ult bias for a reason. It took a while for him to get where he is, improving consistently. He loves to sing, loves learning to sing and loves his role as a singer. This guy is hidden well but once u notice him, it’s hard to not respect him and his humour lol
You need to watch " song by" he sang love poem from IU. You will recognize his vocal level.. And I said this in felix's post as well. You need to watch "2kids show". They sang a songs live.
Seungmin is really an incredible and just amazing person in every sense, he manages everything, no matter what he undertakes, he is good at everything. Amazing vocals also writes songs himself. Few people know that he was still in the dance club at school. His movements in choreography are always so natural and clear, as if without a drop of effort, he plays the guitar, plays baseball, football and bowling superbly at first glance you wouldn't think but he is very hardy. I will never stop admiring Seungmin.
Seungmin is not just a fan, he has been playing baseball professionally since childhood but was unable to continue due to injury, and his grandfather is also a fairly famous baseball player in South Korea. Of the recent events, there is also no mention of Seungmin's modeling career or his collaborations with such fashion brands as Loewe and Harry Winston. And this year Seungmin started hosting his own show on the official STRAY KIDS channel called "SONG BY" where he talks about his thoughts on music and sings the chosen song.
He is also good at rap and choreography like the rest of the members at one of the shows, he read faster than the main rapper of the Changbin group.
