As a fellow metal head, I can assure you that Stray Kids is probably the best group to get into in terms of boy groups. They are notorious for mixing genres/sounds and being on the edgier and weirder side. Some of my personal favorite songs: Hall of Fame, Chronosaurus, The Tortoise and the Hare, Gods Menu, Side Effects, Ssick, 3RACHA, Maniac, Domino, Cheese. Thanks for giving them a chance and I hope you find more songs to enjoy! :)

Hey, I enjoyed your reaction thanks. Stray Kids are quite unique being self-produced and they experiment with lots of different genres. In fact they have formed their own genre known as mala taste because their music is spicy and they combine genres in different ways. They actually don't really do love songs, as such, they have some ballads and slower songs but they are generally deeper in meaning than typical love songs and often they will do a sad/breakup song but the melody will still be upbeat (such as Chill) Most of their songs have really deep, meaningful lyrics that cover issues everybody can relate to such as depression/anxiety, obsession (which is sort of what Venom is about), and being your true authentic self (Maniac) and everything in between. They have received a lot of hate from people who call their music "noisy" or construction music, I guess cos they're so different to the KPop they're used to, they were, and still are to a degree, more popular internationally than in Korea. Stray Kids just embraced this though, Bang Chans attitude was Yeah, it IS construction Music cos we construct our own music! They released the album No Easy (which sounds like Noisy when you say it fast!) as a slap back to those haters, especially the songs Thunderous, Cheese and Domino. Another song aimed at the haters is God's Menu which really put them on the map, the MV has over 400M views, I recommend you check this one out next then Thunderous, Maniac, Freeze, TMI, Hellevator (pre debut), District 9 (debut title track), Side Effects, My Pace as these are some of their 'noisier' songs. They have just had a comeback and the whole '5 Star' Album is truely ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ especially check out the title track S Class as well as Topline, Get Lit, Hall of Fame and Superbowl (the last 2 don't have MV but there are lyric videos). Their MV's, by the way, are always top tier.

Thanks for the info. I'm learning a lot about them quickly. I was incorrect in thinking that they do cheesy lovesongs and am realizing that I'm not even sure where I got that idea. That's the first time I've heard their sound referred to as noisy or construction music. I think it has more of an edge than I assumed that it would so I will be checking out some of those recommendations that you made. Thanks again!

@@the_talking_muffini had the same assumption about girl groups until recently but yeah stray kids has maybe 10 actual love songs (out of 160+ songs) a few more slow songs but they rarely write about love and as op said they are generally considered a noise music group with very hype in your face music. I would say that in the K-Pop industry, Stray Kids have the "weird/strange/odd" kind of music and very nasty in the best of ways. And that's why they made their own genre and proceeds to top the Billboard Charts 3 times in a row now. They're entirely self-produced as you know, so I hope you enjoy more of them in the future ☺️

Stray Kids has very few love songs. In Venom, they look at the group's relationship with the world of showbiz through a toxic relationship. You voluntarily fall into the spiderweb and it is difficult to leave at will, it is difficult to leave.

Thanks for correcting me. I don't know where I got the idea that they had a lot of love songs. I was told a couple of times that it's not really the case. I'm struggling to figure out where I got that in my head, but I am enjoying the meaning of the song now. I'm finding out that they write all of their own lyrics as well. I'm starting to dig what they are about.

@@the_talking_muffin oh i think you might have seen "case 143" from their previous cb in autumn last year 😅 it was pretty much their first time tackling love as a theme ( they did it in the typical skz way and not cheesy at all) but just looking at the title tracks mv one might mby get the impression it's "cheesy" (bc of the color sheme and such), so don't worry too much about why you got that particular first impression!! It's awesome that you kept an open mind and checked them out! Definitely have a look at the stuff ppl recommended in the comments! They have so many different kind of songs, so there is a lot to love and experience different genres 😊 definitely more on the upbeat/aggressive side than cheesy slow songs for sure tho 😅and they also have a lot of rock versions of their songs for performances or concerts which hit pretty hard!

SKZ are considered one of the noisiest, weirdest, most experimental groups in the industry, which plays a very big part in why they're not just not very popular in Korea but also often actively disliked there -- they're too far outside the mainstream sound preferred in the domestic market. At the same time, that very same sound is a huge part of why they're so big and ever-growing internationally. When being nice, Korean media references them by the "mala taste"/"malatang" genre they created. When being less nice, Koreans in general tend to use "noisy," "noise music," "pots-and-pans music," "construction music," and so forth to disparage SKZ's unapologetically loud, experimental approach. The God's Menu MV is full of references to these noise descriptions that are meant as insults -- construction site and equipment, race track, science lab, kitchen full of chaos, etc -- and both the lyrics of and MV for God's Menu (as the start of that new album era trilogy) were the turning point when they stopped just accepting they were different and on their own path, and instead decided to fully lean into it and slap people in the face with "Damn right we're different." As others mentioned, something definitely went awry in whatever you were recalling having heard about SKZ doing schmoopy love songs or the like. 😄There have been a scattered few love-related songs over the years, but virtually all of that already tiny count are not specifically romantic love, but rather can cover everything from love of oneself to love of their fellow members to love of the fans to even a love song to their dads. MAXIDENT about nine months ago is the first love-themed album, with the first love-themed title track, and even that one is deliberately jarring and dualistic to demonstrate the conflict between rational mind and emotional heart. And though the entire album was their experiment with a love theme throughout (because, again, experimentation is at the very core of their being), most of the songs still fall under their tradition of leaving things open to various interpretations about the type of love rather than being specifically romantic love. Chill could be _any_ cooling relationship. Super Board is definitely not romance, but it's perfect to fit as love of music and group and each other. And so forth. Even the very few explicitly romantic ones are less "ooh, baby baby" and more "My feelings aren't your problem" or "This idea of love was a fairytale, and I get that now" or "Looking back, I regret not trying, but I'm letting it go" or some other take that's about processing the feelings or taking responsibility for your own end of things rather than it is about typical lovey-dovey sh1t. Also, fwiw, barring two songs among around 170+ in the discography, their songs deliberately avoid assigning a specific gender to an object of affection. Polls have made it clear for years that STAY is pretty much the queerest fandom; the majority are queer, not white, and not teenagers, and the percentage of male STAYs is unusually high (generally numbers say 1/4 to 1/3 of the fandom). SKZ are aware of all this _and_ they've explicitly made it a point, multiple times, to underline that they want their music and their group itself to be inclusive and relatable to as many people as possible, which is difficult if all the lyrics are gendered or they refer to the fandom as default female or assume everyone is straight and crushing on the members or whatever. So just as romantic love songs, especially cutesy or cheesy ones, are not really a thing for SKZ, the same goes for gender-specific/exlusive language in lyrics or talking about the fandom. Both the dearth of romance-specific songs and the deliberately inclusive language of both the songs and the group culture are HUGE things for many, many people in the fandom. So you'll probably get told all this multiple times, just because it's so immensely important to us.

When we say they make almost all their own music, we really mean it. They arent just "involved" in the process they pretty much run their own show. Their 3-man producing team write almost all of their own lyrics and produce almost everything themselves. Bang Chan, the leader and Sana's buddy, also usually is one of the people credited on arrangement. They do have a very small pool of trusted producers that sometimes work on polishing the lyrics or the final production with, and occasionally a guest producer they collab with, but that's it. The song ideas (except for a couple soundtrack songs) are theirs and the lyrics are straight out of their weird imaginations. Wanna see? Here's a vlog with Bang Chan actually composing Venom! You'll see him around minute 11: 12 working on it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cNxWtnFl4LI.html Enjoy!

Scrolling through the comments I noticed some of their earlier grungier songs are missing from the recommended list so here are some more. ‘Beware’ also known as ‘Grrrr’ - this was a pre-debut song they wrote and performed on the survival show to determine if all members would debut or not. ‘Mirror’ - from their debut album, it’s a b-side and has an m/v, it’s a bit grungy but has mellow sections. ‘Awaken’ - this song is also from the debut album but doesn’t have an mv, it’s a fav of mine. ‘Rock’ - again same album, it has a punch to it but it’s also lighter in tone as well, this one has a ‘street mv’ meaning the kids took hand held cameras with them and filmed them selves just having fun in a public place whilst lip syncing to the song. They tend to be lip synching to other members parts as well so the person in screen isn’t necessarily the person in the audio singing/rapping, new fans tend to get confused because of this so just a heads up if you check out any street version MVs). ‘Insomnia’ - from the album ‘I am Who’ it’s not grungy but it’s a fave of mine that I can’t resist recommending. ‘Stop’ - is the intro track tot he album ‘cle: levanter’ and is actually a culmination of the intro songs to two previous albums in their ‘cle’ mini album series. No mv. ‘Booster’ - another song that doesn’t have an mv also from ‘cle: levanter’ album. ‘Ta’ - from their ‘go live’ album might also be up your ally, not so much grungy but super hype with some grit. ‘Cheese’ - is a good heavy hitter as the intro song of their album ‘no easy’ which is a clap back to haters (the whole album is pretty but an ‘up your’s’ to the haters). It has an mv and the live award show version is epic! ‘Domino’ - from the same album has less grunge but it’s a hard hitting song, no mv but it does have a dance practice. ‘Wolfgang’ - this song was originally for written and performed for their final performance on a competition show called ‘kingdom: legendary war’ (great show, highly recommend if you end up getting into boy groups cause the performances are incredible). I would go with the comeback stage rather than the kingdom stage since one member was missing from kingdom. There isn’t an mv for domino (there was an unveil vid but unveil videos are just snippets of songs to tease the album before release so if you see a vid that is way shorter than you think an mv should be from them then it is likely an unreal and not the actual mv). ‘Muddy water’ - is a sub unit song from their ‘Oddinary’ mini album, it’s from the members who tend to rap more in their discography, it’s not grunge but it does have a old school hip hop vibe to it that you might like. Others have suggested for the newer albums so I’ll leave the list there for ones I think have been missed out either because they weren’t thought of or are older songs that end up getting overlooked. Hope this helps.

@@the_talking_muffin the show with Sana was about a week before the release of the tt God's Menu and the album Go Live in mid-June 2020, if that helps with your search. Bang Chan is good friends with all of Twice (they see him as their little brother, and he would sneak food to them during trainee days when they were on strict diets), especially Sana, Momo and Tzuyu, with whom he collabed on her Taylor Swift cover 'Me!' Bang Chan played one of the zombies in the mv for Twice's debut track 'Like OOH-AHH'. Stray Kids and Twice have also done some collab stages. 3racha (the 3-member producing unit of Stray Kids) wrote NiziU's recent single 'Paradise'. Bang Chan produced, arranged, sang backing vocals and directed their vocal recording sessions. NiziU also cameo in 2 Stray Kids' mvs: God's Menu and Back Door. Finally, as someone who grew up listening to grunge, punk and metal, and who has seen a lot of metal, punk, rock and rap fans - as well as older listeners and those looking for more meaningful lyrics - gravitate towards Stray Kids, I think you may enjoy them.

Yes, Chris (aka Bang Chan or just Chan) and Sana have (by their own account) a pretty brother-sister relationship. From age 13 onward, he grew up on his own, living in the dorms in a foreign country. He's very close with many, many idols and other industry people. He and Lisa are good friends. Jackson. JK. Bambam was so close that he's widely understood to be the primary focus of Chris's song 4419, which talks about all the friends who he had to watch leave him behind as they debuted before him. Peniel was the first fellow native English speaker Chris met in the dorms, and that connection was instant. He was everybody's baby. The guys used to pick his tiny ass up and stuff him in boxes, and the girls treated him like their cute but pesky little brother. Twice have collectively known him since he was prepubescent; more than once, he -- the baby of the company -- took a hit to help them, his honorary sisters, in getting food when JYP was forbidding them to eat (used all his meal tickets to buy food and sneak it to them, and got in trouble himself for eating, for example). Anyway, it's safe to assume that even if you don't specifically have info, Chris knows and is probably friends with any 3rd- and 4th-gen idols, minimum, that you can think of. And yes, Chris still has his show (a weekly live youtube stream called "Chan's Room"), although after more than 200 episodes and for the first time since its creation, he's put it on unofficial hiatus for the last several weeks, ostensibly because of scheduling. But that has _never_ been an issue for him keeping what he considers to be a promise to interact. So those of us who are less innocently trusting understand that it's because a small but loud contingent of STAYs _royally_ f*cked up a month or so ago and directly caused Chris and SKZ harm, and Chris paid the price and threw himself on his sword to calm a conflict he didn't create and keep it from escalating. And then he put Channie's Room on hiatus and has been taking some well-deserved time away from the toxic minority and from being directly exposed to hundreds of thousands of worldwide viewers just waiting to misbehave and cause him and SKZ trouble again. So yes, Chan's Room still exists, but there's no knowing when it will resume, because a few immature, selfish people acted without care and ruined things for everyone. /rant Since you know Twice, here's tangential info: Tzuyu chose Chris to feature in her version of the Taylor Swift/Brendan Urie song "Me!" He's not shown in the video, but he's very much heard. And Nayeon chose Felix (who, as a fanboy, has been teasingly referred to as the lost member of Twice since before SKZ even debuted) to feature on her song "No Problem." And Han performed a personally reworked version of "Alcohol Free," including an original rap, on Lee Mujin Service.

When you get a person who is willing to take a "bullet" or "sword" for his family, steps up and shows the world the proper way of being able to respond as adult, that is being a true Leader, no matter what popularity polls may show. I want to add about the lyrics to this song. They are about obsession that you get so caught up in that it becomes toxic you get use to it and then it becomes an addiction to you that you can't leave it even if you have a way out. This can apply to relation ships or material things. Funny you said they have more love songs. Their previous album called Cace143 was their first love song. Yes they have some vocal songs before that about relationships but not one of actual love. And they did Case143 in a way that most people who never experience love of have love for the first time don't understand those emotions. Most of Stray Kids songs are rap heavy and very energetic. Hellevator pre deubt m/v, District 9 debut m/v, Easy m/v, Maniac m/v, Thunderous m/v, Double Knott (all English version), Get Lit m/v, BackDoor m/v, Victory Song m/v. They do have a few vocal songs but compared to their list it is a small margin. I would also recommend the k-rock group under JYP called Xdianry Heroes. They debut in 2021 who have amazing music too. Thank you for checking out stray kids. I know you feel. I primarily only listen to the male side of k-pop but I do have some favorite female groups I like I just don't follow them. I have been part of the k-pop world for 4 years now and it just seems like yesterday. Stray kids are my first love but I really love all of k-pop groups they are all so talented and work very hard to achieve their goals and dreams. Respect for those idols who are usually really young. That being said here is a bit about stray kids and what sets them apart. They are the oddinary group of k-popm and they embrace it being oddianry. Stray kids are a self produced group, meaning they write the lyrics, compose the melodies and beats, they arrange the unique sounds line distribution, and produce 99.9% of their own music. The other 1% they still are hands on with help. Because they do they love to experiment with new sounds, melodies, mixing genres and more. It is funny you noticed the 2 Aussies in the group. The first one you couldn't remember the name is Bang Chan or some call him Chris or Christopher. He is the leader and trained with JYP for 7 years starting when he was 13 years old. So yes he has many friends in the industry all over and especially those groups and idols under JYP. In fact he was featured in a few girl videos when he was a trainee. I don't remember if it was twice or another group. He moved to Australia when he was a wee baby. The other member you noticed deep voice Felix who was born in Australia and moved to Korea at the age 17 years old with only the very little basics of the Korean language. He has a very unique vocal range from very high everything in between and deeper than the deepest ocean. What sets stray kids apart other than they are self produced is they are the first every under any company to let the leader handpick his members, create the group name and fandom and create their logo. JYP decided to do something new and let Bang Chan pick his members and then the company put them through a reality elimination show to prove they were ready to debut. They debut in 2018 with 9 members, lost one in 2019 for personal reasons. They have a huge discography with over 170 songs. Venom is the b-side song off the oddinary album. They put out more content the any other group for example they just had a comeback off their 5-star album besides the title track m/v they have 4 other music videos released for this album. They also do mini movie concept trailers before each comeback along with many teasers. They are breaking all the rules and JYP records. All 8 of the members can rap, dance and have amazing vocals there is no set roles in the group. Their most iconic viewed song is Gods Menu and in the video there is a group of girls NiziU and at the time of the video they were still JYP trainee's.. Stray Kids fandom name is Stay (it is Stray without the R, because that is the Reason Stray Kids Stay). I hope you react to more stray kids music and content. Its a must to watch Gods Menu, the newest TopLine m/v, and S-Class but there is so much more. Also more male groups is well. You get so much amazing music in all genres in k-pop. which is a word I don't like to use because it is more than pop music. Me I love music and blues, rock, metal rock is some of my favorites along with oldies. I just love good music my list is long because I am getting so old in fact when over the old hill. LOL catch you on the next video. PS Sorry for the long comment passionate about stray kids and i thought what the heck why not write a book.

As long as it doesn't get too scary......I've had people demand that I address groups certain ways and tell me how to do my videos because they don't want me to interrupt a certain member, etc.. But I do love when someone is just passionate and doesn't take all of this too seriously. I'm learning more and more about the KPOP realm and recently learned that it its more than POP, like you said, which I never knew before. Example, I didn't think a group like DREAMCATCHER would be a thing, but it's a beautiful thing and quickly becoming a favorite group. Also, it's interesting that you primarily listen to Male. I primarily listen to female because I found it endearing and humbling hearing them sing about the tragedy and ecstasy of love. The female/feminine spirit has been under attack so much that it actually makes me sympathize with the female struggle more than I ever have before. I've never given songs like this a chance before a couple of years ago and now I look at it like they're not just cheesy love songs. They're songs of struggle and joy and everything in between and it's just the story of the human experience and it took some "growing up", mentally to be open to it...Which is a big reason I keep coming back to it, because of the change that I had to make to enjoy it and enjoy myself more as a consequence.

If you want to keep listening to Stray Kids, my favorite title track of their’s is Thunderous. I also really like Cheese. I don’t know if you can tell from Venom alone, but Stray Kids are known for having quite an abrasive and maximalist sound. For other boy groups, I think ATEEZ is a safe bet for you. They’re the group that shares producers with Dreamcatcher. As a metalhead, I think you’d really appreciate their song Guerrilla. My personal favorite of their’s is Halazia.

Ha, wild that “slow love songs” was your first impression, since it’s very much not their usual vibe. My own introduction to them was sort of the usual route, which is God’s Menu, Thunderous, and Maniac. They also just had a new album come out earlier this month; the title track S-Class is definitely “weird” as well.

If it helps qualify the masculinity one of them has 3 black belts (taekwondo, hapkido and body guard martial arts), and one has one black belt in Taekwondo (he competed nationally as a child and teen with 63 medals). And it's not the two you'd expect haha. They really only have the one love song, though there are a few songs where the main conceit is interpreted through a relationship. They're primarily self produced/composed/written. Their production team is 3RACHA which is Bang Chan (Sana's friend), and the two main rappers Changbin (buff one) and Han (with the gun to his head). I also enjoy metal (primarily power metal, speed metal, prog, folk metal, etc) though I have diverse music taste and wouldn't call myself a metal head. What type of metal do you enjoy? I'd recommend God's Menu or Thunderous based on how you talk about your taste in music, but that's hard to judge when metal varies so much. It took me a bit to get in to Stray Kids but now I'm hooked.
@StaySiren
@StaySiren Год назад
They certainly have a unique vibe even in kpop, pioneering a niche sort of subgenre that is called mala taste (spicy flavor). They play a lot with sounds in titles and b-sides like this. I would definitely check out songs like Item, Domino, Side Effects, Tortoise and the Hare, Heyday, Maniac, Victory song, Double knot, Miroh. District 9 is their debut song, Hellevator was their first song together and was released pre-debut. They also just released s-class and the whole 5 star album is 🔥. They do not have many slow songs or love songs, tbh. Case 143 is their only title ‘love’ song, and it’s not quite a lovey dovey song. And venom is not a love song at all. It’s about being trapped in something toxic that overwhelms you - not necessarily a love relationship, but friendships, family, hobbies, anything you do that poisons you. Oddinary is an entire album of taking what’s ordinary and making it odd.
@deeception3096
@deeception3096 Год назад
Thank you for listening to Stray Kids! I think you are the first person I've heard say that they knew Stray Kids as being slower love songs....not that they haven't written beautiful slower songs...I've just mostly heard they were known for their "noise" music. SKZ have a very extensive discography (over 160 produced songs since 2017) - nearly the entire catalogue is self-produced (three of the members make up the producing unit named 3RACHA, but every member has several writing credits). SKZ definitely have some beautiful slower songs, but not many "love" songs - at least not in the traditional sense. SKZ's lyricism has mainly revolved around being yourself, even if you don't entirely fit in with what's "normal". The concept of Stray Kids has focused on being misfits outside traditional norms as idols, artists, young adults....but always looking to build a community that sees the best in each other. A place for all the outcasts to come together. They also are heavily associated with Deadpool (mostly from their Deadpool themed cover of Blackpink's Ddu ddu ddu where Ryan Reynolds became a fan of theirs). SKZ has one of my favorite discographies in Kpop right now for guy groups - it's well-produced, well-rapped/sung, and combines unusual genres together in a very fun way. God's Menu was definitely their break out song and helped them pioneer the genre "malatang or mala taste" - a spicy and eclectic sub-genre of kpop. Their most recent album, 5-Star, has some great tracks with unusual sounds brought together - Hall of Fame, Item, Topline (featuring legendary K-Rapper, Tiger JK), and the title track, S-Class, all sample some really interesting sounds. I'd also recommend Back Door, Thunderous, Circus (Japanese track), Side Effects (highly controversial for its use of psytrance), Maniac, and Freeze as a place to start. That barely scratches the surface, but it may offer you songs you enjoy. Ultimately, music is a personal experience and there is no harm if you find this group in particular is not to your personal preferences. I thank you all the same for taking the time to try them out and reading this comment. Your questions about the guy and Sana: Bang Chan (the leader) trained with all of the Twice members and is close friends with Sana (and really the entire J-Line). He talks about how spending time with Sana really helped him with his Japanese skills, so now, when they do promotions in Japan, he is a lot more confident to speak with fans there. He also brings back treats for them when he returns from abroad (when he was back home in Australia he specifically looked for gummy candies that some of the members of Twice really like). There is a famous story about how some of the Twice members were forced on a diet, so Bang Chan collected a bunch of food vouchers and snuck them food from the JYP cafeteria. He got in trouble for purchasing so much food. Chan is also in Twice's M/V "Like Ooh Ahh" as one of the zombies. He's also in a Miss A M/V. Chan features on Tzuyu's solo cover of Taylor Swift. He's also close with Lisa of Blackpink because of their mutual friend BamBam from GOT7. He's close with Lily of NMIXX as they are both Australian (as is Felix, the deep voice guy in Stray Kids) - often referring to her as his little sister. Lily did backing vocals for one of 3RACHA's pre-debut songs. ITZY and SKZ debuted close together and are generally seen antagonizing each other in a very sibling way at events. Chan is known for being friends with everyone in the industry.

As a fellow metalhead, my typical metal playlist includes Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Trivium, Metallica, Polyphia, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, dream Theater. I was just another typical metal kid who learned how to shred. But like you, I have not been intrigued by a lot of the pop music released in the west lately. I was a bit of a kpop anti long time ago. BUT Stray kids caught my eye and ears 3 years back and I have never looked back. As many have pointed out already regarding their self-producing ways, I always appreciate hearing new sounds and arrangements. Their music parallels progressive metal in many ways actually. They do experiment with abrupt time signature changes, syncopated rhythms (flows), and just unique arrangements. However, the biggest thing I will say about them is in their own words "THERE IS NO LIE IN OUR MUSIC". As in, this is them, making music they WANT to make! This is their SOUND! AND that my friend is METAL attitude as well!!!🤘🤘 I would call them a progressive hip hop k-pop group if I had to come up with some label to them. Some songs I think you will enjoy from their HUGe discography (in only 5 years): THUNDEROUS, GOD'S MENU, S-Class, DISTRICT 9, DOMINO (NO FULL MV SADLY), THE SOUND, ITEM, to name a few.

Welcome to Stray Kids. Self produced by 3racha which includes leader Bang Chan (who also handpicked the members) as well as phenomenal rappers Changbin and Han. Stray Kids actually tend to be pretty popular with metal heads. They don't usually go for pop love songs. Though they do have a few ballads, for the most part they go hard. They love to plays with sounds and genres and have been heavily criticized for being "noise" music which should put to rest any worry of them being pop love song centered. God's Menu is the go to recommendation. While they were gaining popularity prior, that started them skyrocketing. Domino (dance practice there is no MV), God's Menu, Thunderous, Cheese, Topline, S Class, Superboard and especially Maniac. And the deep voice was Felix who loves confusing first timers who usually point out that voice doesn't match the face (yes it is his real voice. He has a wide range). Skz has a much broader fan base then you would think. Lots of over 40 fans (like me) and many who don't like typical pop music (also me) I hope you check out some more of them. I personally find them quite a bit harder than BTS but not being a BTS fan and having only heard them in passing I could be very wrong. Stray Kids and Ateez are put to the side a lot and seem to do better with us international fans and not as well in Korea where they aren't the typical kpop. I hope you like your journey and maybe one day will call yourself a Stay.

In fact many haters say SKZ make “noise music”. They actually don’t do many love songs and if they do, they are not usually conventional love songs e.g. Case 143. As multiple people did, I would also recommend Xdinary Heroes. I'm a stayvillain ult, meaning stray kids and Xdinary Heroes are my two favorite groups. Both groups are mainly known for their noisy quirky songs, and of course my favoritr songs are the slow sad one 😂. Xdinary Heroes is a krock band (also unde jyp entertainment) but K-rock is not your western rock but more of a mix so more like punk rock pop. Their weirdedt in my opinion would definetly be Hair cut but I would recommend all of their title tracks so Happy death day, Test me, hair cut and Freaking bad ! Their songs are often talking about mental health but with metaphor Stray kids are more of a huge mix of genres and themes. They have done more than 40 genres, mix them and even created their own genre ! For theme, they talked about depression, insomnia, mental health, alcoolism, toxic relationships, overworking,.... they really have done so many things and helps people with their words. So I think the person you were referring to is Bang Chan, who's basically Sana best friend. I was in JYP entertainment before her but debuted after, so they kinda grew up together and they were helping each other. Twice members and Chan himdelf explained that Chan would get them food (because he was afraid they would starve and die) and would get in trouble for them. The clip you were referring is from is show, I guess you can call in, called Chan's room. They were actually talking about their next album and Sana came so they madr her listen to God's menu to have her opinion. She was the first person to see the MV, even before themselves. YougK from Day 6 also joined them at some point, so the three besties were reunited !

I almost fell out when you mentioned that you thought Stray Kids was a cheesy love songs type of group. Hahaha. They have a lot of different genres, but they are more hype than not. They've done some experimental stuff and are all over. For "weird" go with Side Effects and The Tortoise and The Hare. God's Menu pretty much sums up the group's ability to do almost anything (they ain't done country yet ...). If you want a throwback rock feel but with Kpop twist - look at Cheese (I play it when I'm in a mood) or My Pace. They have a large discography and are a self-produced group. They just came out with a new album Five Star, which I think is excellent. There is an underlying thematic scheme tying the songs together, but each one has it's own flavor. There are hype songs, chill songs, meaningful message songs and just vibe songs. I'm super glad I found this rabbit hole to fall down.

Twice and Stray Kids belong to the same company. I saw a video where Stray Kids’ leader, Bang Chan was visiting his family in Australia, and he was saying that he had promised the Twice Noonas to bring them back some candy. Noona is the Korean word for a male’s older sister (if you didn’t already know. Eonni or Unnie is the word for a female’s older sister) I thought that was interesting, because normally an artist would refer to another artist from the same company who had debuted before them as Sunbae. But the fact that he called them sisters must mean that they’re close.

I'm telling you as a metalhead Stray Kids is perfect for you. They made me love unstructured songs and I didn't even know I'm gonna like those. I hope you react to them more they have pretty much covered all sort of genre. I like seeing new people get into Stray Kids cause they are no ordinary group and they deserve to be known and recognize even more. They are the only group I actively support, I've listen to a lot of Kpop songs and watched other kpop groups but only Stray Kids captured my attention. Their songs are unique, yes there are some generic ones but most of it are experimental. They combined genres seamlessly. And lastly I know most of the comments already told you that they create their own music but I can't stress it enough the 3 members who mostly create their music made me even more sure that I am supporting a great group cause of how involved they are on their crafts. All of the 8 members are so talented and have great personalities as well. I hope you react to them more.

I feel like you would like Xdinary Heroes. They’re a Korean rock band under JYP, they have 3 albums and a single and all of their songs are amazing! They don’t have many music videos yet but they also have live clips of their songs and covers on their channel. I recommend their cover of Tomboy and Love Me Right if you want the heavier rock sound. Great reaction by the way :)

Stray kids music is somehow in between Instead of weird I would say experimental since they produce their stuff. So if u try to check out their music from beginning u can see the progression on their style with different switch up of genres. I listen to mostly rock kind of beat which stray kids have tons of it then slowly start to fell in love with hiphop because of them. ❤ My all time fav of theirs “hellevator”, “double knot”, “victory song”, & “voices”. Oh btw, their most weird song for me are “tortoise and hare” and “side effect”. Its not for everyone tho but worth to check out. All the best on skz the journey!

yes he is very close with twice because they were training at the same time, stray kids is jyp, the "radio show" you were talking about was just one of his lives, he goes live every Sunday, so that's what that was

Like some people already said Stray Kids have very few love songs, and the few songs they have that focus on relationships tend to be breakup songs or something of the sort. Most of their songs are pretty deep and the main focus is on self reflection, mental health, self praise etc, not really lovely-dovey shit hahah. They also make their own music, they created their own logo and the leader of the group even picked his own members. So they’re a self made group through and through. They’re also one of the heavier kpop boy groups in terms of music style. And I'm not sure who told you that BTS is a group that makes heavy music because they’re definitely WAY more on the pop side than Stray Kids. I discovered BTS in 2016 and the music they made in the first few years of their career was very "hip-hopy" but the music they’ve released since like 2019 has been a lot more "pop-y". BTS also have a lot of love songs, especially compared to Stray Kids. So I doubt the current BTS would fit your music style, (unless you check out solo work from some members), and this is coming from someone who grew up listening to rock and heavy metal.

Me personally I listen to a mix of boy groups & girl groups cuz more music for me to enjoy. But when it comes to actually getting to know the members and see their personalities I definitely only watch boy groups for that. Idk I’ve never really had a “connection” with girl groups.

Stray Kids 🔥🔥 Reaction to God’s Menu or S-Class next? It’s their recent comeback and you gotta do an album review to their newest release ‘5 Star’ too literally no skips!! Stray Kids are also the only boy group I’m stan right now for the same reasons you listened why you can’t get into male groups but I can assure you that Skz just got that special sound that no one can imitate because they are the minds behind their weird but good music. Like S-Class their newest release is a very good example. They even choreograph dances and their leader picked the members himself which makes their bond even more special so yeah they are pretty much a self produced group with creative minds.

I realized how when I see a singer/person more on the pop side, I recommend total different songs or even ballads form skz, if it is a rapper/hiphop listener, there's another kind of songs to recommend, and now is this kind of edm/hiphop inducing skz songs. THANKYOU SKZ FOR HAVING SO MANY GENRES, there's always a song that i can recommend from the group depending on the music taste 😭 Sorry, being amazed at their discography again, cause its not something you can do with all music groups, anyways bye and thanks again

For anyone who’s into a lot of experimental and noisy sounds Stray Kids are definitely the right fit. They’ve covered dozens of genres at this point and they don’t seem to be slowing down with their most recent album considering the title track alone had like 4 different vibes in one.

SKZ are heavy in hip hop and rap. That's their core. They do a lot of genre mixing. You'll find rock and edm in there. They do less love songs and slow songs. They are known for having created their own musical genre called Mala, because their music doesn't fit in any other genre. I'd say Stray Kids is more aggressive than BTS. BTS does a lot more of the love songs, in my opinion. Their lyrics always have several meanings. Lots of deep thoughts about life and mental health and personal growth. And also a good amount of calling out haters and that kind of thing. They have fun with that. I haven't watched any of your other videos (yet), so I don't know what you are into as far as recommendations go. Maybe these, since you said aggressive and weird: Super Bowl from 5 STAR. Hall of Fame from 5 STAR. Thunderous (has an MV). BEWARE from SKZ2020. Maze of Memories from SKZ2021. Tortoise and the Hare from IN LIFE. District 9 (has an MV). That should get you started. Have fun!

Actually stray kids has like barely any slower songs, and they’ve only got 1 title track that’s like “a love song”. Stray kids are known for being loud and aggressive in their songs, they’re even called “noise music” bc they use a lot of EDM and they’re very rap heavy.

Okay, for one thing, Stray Kids have many, many genres. Lately, they've focused heavily on rap songs, but they also do rock, EDM, club beats, etc. I recommend Side Effects and Heyday and... really, anything. If you don't do ballads, they have plenty to keep you happy. Also, the one you recognized, the blond vocalist who's friends with TWICE, is the leader, Bang Chan. He's also responsible for the genius of their music along with Han and Changbin. They're self-produced (I think Venom was a collab production with another producer) and they are heavily involved in all their music. They write their lyrics and compose their music too, and they also have a hand in choreography.

Thanks for your reaction!! If you like rap your should check 3 racha "3 racha" or "zone" of both, theyre killers (3 racha is the group name for the producing team which includes Han, Changbin and Bangchan)

Beginner's Guide since you like metal: God's Menu Back Door Thunderous Easy There are 8 members, Bang Chan (oldest, leader), Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N.. They are a bit different because instead of the company choosing people, they let Bang Chan choose who he wanted since he had already been training at JYP for 7 years. They debuted as a nine member team, but the ninth left the group after a year. Bang Chan and Felix are Australian, they all understand English, most of them speak well. Lee Know focuses more on Japanese. All of them can rap/dance/sing though they do have preferences on what they like to do. Chan, Changbin, and Han, called 3Racha, write and produce all their music and the members often collaborate with 3Racha to make mix tapes or singles. Almost all of the time there is a deeper meaning to their songs. They have over 150 songs in their discography in the five years they've been together.

One thing I think can give you an idea of Stray Kids place within K-Pop, a lot of K-Pop stands call their music “noise”. They also produce all of their music which I feel like not quite a lot of groups do.

Yeah Stray kids have some slow songs, but almost none of them are about love. They've written most of them from just different struggles in life like mental struggles they've gone through and others can relate to.
